Biased to push naratives
This isn't a good website for Game developers. They don't do enough research to make sure the data they're working with is accurate. There's a ton of evidence for this but one of the more recent ones is their article titled: "Data and player sentiment highlight the value of authentic LGBTQ narratives". Their source in this article is the GLAAD Gaming Report. That is an organisation that has motivation to push the narrative that this is what gamers want. They don't mention this in the article. If you do your own investigation and look at the data and figures in their report, you can clearly see how they've fudged the results by targeting specific audience groups who would likely provide the answers that they want. What they should have written about is the reality is that 80+% of console gamers are straight men. There's a lot of data to support this including Capcom's own recent survey results, which they could have referenced. Guess what straight men don't really want in their games? LGBTQ narratives and romances. At best they'll sit through it and wonder why it's there, at worse they'll refund the game/trade it in and rant online about how bad the devs are. This site should be asking why 90%+ of the games that have these things shoehorned in do worse both financially and in player reviews? And more importantly why are sites like Gamedeveloper.com not competent enough to pick up non this. There's a ton of examples like this on this website. Here's the thing, Game devs, if you want to believe these narratives are what players want then go ahead. It's not my company or money you're wasting. It's not me who'll be out of a job when the games don't meet sales expectations. A website with this name and purpose should probably care more about how what they publish affects the long term job prospects of the people who read their site.
