Scammers@heart

Scammers I used Apple Pay to buy Pokemon cards . I was sent an empty box over a week later (AFTER THEY HAD CHANGED THE TITLE AND DESCRIPTION POST SALE ) they are clearly trying to “stop botting” and failing so have turned to scamming people instead don’t use this company.

PS the price was the same as a sealed box and I didn’t receive order details until 3 days later after and them putting on their website they would be keeping a % of any cancelled orders also I don’t use bot so using that as an excuse is a joke

Hi Joe.

Apologies if I've missed it, but I can't see an email from you about this. You've obviously very welcome to send this back for a refund if it wasn't what you expected.

Like many companies, we do sometimes break down boxes and sell them as specific parts. This one, for example, we wanted some of the promos to use for prizes with our children's clubs and then sold the other items to recoup the cost.

Apologies if you didn't find it clear - it was in the short description near the price, in the main description, and in the title. Regarding the timing - the listing did also have a red banner across the top explaining there would be a delay to sending that item. I would value some constructive feedback about how we could make it even clearer to customers who look at the page (obviously, if customers are using bots, I can't do much about that if people aren't double checking what they're ordering)

If you're worried we changed anything in the listing, the order confirmation email will have the original title in it. Feel free to send that over to us if you think that it was missing an accurate title or image.

Accused of Botting for Using Apple Pay — Unbelievable

I ordered three Prismatic Evolutions “surprise boxes” from Gamers@Hart after a stock alert was shared in a Discord community. I checked out manually using their website, no scripts, no automation, nothing but a straightforward Apple Pay transaction. Pretty standard behaviour in 2025.

A few days later, I received a partial refund. According to them, the stock was accidentally set to “infinite,” and VAT wasn’t returned due to a backend error, one they admit affected multiple people. Then came the kicker: a not-so-subtle implication that the issue might be tied to bot usage.

To be clear: I do not use bots. I purchased three items, not thirty. I didn’t hammer the site or exploit anything. I used the same checkout method thousands of people use every day, Apple Pay, which takes about 5-15 seconds to complete. Their own public response to a previous review said someone placed an order within 2 minutes of the listing going live, and somehow that alone raised red flags. Are we now equating fast checkout with fraud?

If your infrastructure can't distinguish between legitimate orders and actual abuse, that's not a customer problem, that's poor systems design.

Instead of owning their mistake, this business implies bad faith, withholds full refunds, and puts the burden of proof on their customers. Their response to a similar case on here was to ask the buyer to prove how they browsed the website. Really?

This is not how a trustworthy business behaves, small or not. If you're going to sell high-demand products like Pokémon, you need the systems and maturity to handle demand spikes without accusing customers when things break.

Gamers@Hart, you won’t be getting my business again and I strongly advise others to steer clear unless you're comfortable being treated like a problem instead of a customer.

Another kicker: they basically ended their email stating that the use of bots wastes their time as they now need to look at thousands of emails instead of utilising their time elsewhere.

Bots are a real problem in this industry.

In fairness though - we did admit the mistake of making the listing live accidentally, and we dealt with that immediately and everyone was refunded within a couple of hours of their original orders.

When we realised there was an issue with how some people's refunds had processed, we fixed it within one business day.

I understand you feel targeted by the email asking people to reconsider using bots, it was clear in the email that we knew some people had been 'caught in the crossfire' of an excessive load on the website. I must admit, some other people on your discord channel (assuming is the same one) responded with a little more empathy.

Refund Deduction Without Justification

I placed an order with Gamers@Hart and later cancelled it within the legally allowed 14-day period. Despite this, they withheld part of my refund, citing a blanket policy they apply to large or Pokémon-related orders.

I was surprised to be accused of using automated software (“bots”) to access their site — something I absolutely did not do. No evidence was provided, but they still insisted on keeping part of my money unless I could prove how I browsed their website.

Under UK consumer law, specifically the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers are entitled to a full refund when cancelling online orders, unless clear exceptions apply — which I was never shown during checkout. Their deduction appears to be a punitive fee for frequent cancellations from other customers, not based on my individual case or any proven wrongdoing.

I tried to resolve the issue reasonably, but they refused to refund the withheld amount and ended the conversation when I mentioned I might leave a review.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend shopping here unless you’re willing to risk part of your refund being withheld without clear legal basis. I’ve since reported the issue to Citizens Advice and my payment provider.

EDIT: No, it was not 70 minutes later — yet another inaccurate claim. This just reflects the kind of small family business operation you’re running here. Making assumptions instead of relying on facts is not how a responsible business should operate.

And for the record, if I were actually using what you're accusing me of, it certainly wouldn’t result in a 2-minute checkout. I suggest you keep all the so-called "evidence" of these accusations in a secure place — I’m sure my bank would be very interested in reviewing them as well.

I suggest everyone to take their money somewhere else as these people have no idea how to run a business.

EDIT: So it's against the rules to share the product link between friends? You guys are a joke of a business. Keep pushing this attitude and insinuations, but when things start falling apart, don’t just blame the economy.

Thank you for highlighting our policy on recouping banking fees on refunds for a very specific set of cases (large orders of some games, including Pokemon, where we have had problems of people making large orders and then very quickly asking for refunds). This is not a punitive measure, but serves to recoup genuine costs to the business of some systematic practices with specific games that add an unnecessary cost to our small, family business. Please note, when we issue a refund we pay a fee for the refund, and the original fees by our bank and by our payment provider.

I can see in your case, you made two orders. One for 20 Prismatic Booster bundles, which you asked for the full order to be cancelled because you had accidentally ordered 20 rather than 2. Both were placed less than two minutes after the listing went live. Then around 70 minutes later you realised the mistake and asked for a refund.

Your second order for 20 'surprise box collections' we had to refund because they were accidentally made available when we did not have any stock. As an indication of the problems we have with pokemon, accidentally setting those surprise boxes to 'infinite' meant we took £13k worth of orders in 20 minutes before we realised the mistake. Almost all of those orders were placed very rapidly, much faster than a human would typically go through the check out process.

We explain on our website that for Pokemon we reserve the right to charge 5% on refunds to cover banking charges. We reviewed your case and made it a 3% charge to better represent the actual loss to the business.

There are many reasons why people may make mistakes, or check out too quickly. Use of bots is one.

We would note this clause does not cover the vast majority of our customers who may want to return a board game - T&Cs are in the 'refunds' section of our website.

Please see our last 1 star review. We have a policy of disengaging as soon as a customer hints that giving them special treatment would result in a more favourable review.

EDIT: There isn't much need to do a back-and-forth over every point, but I'd just like to be clear it isn't the checkout time that was 2 minutes; the time from adding the items to our website to the completion of purchase (for example, the Surprise Collection boxes went online at 17:49, and you had completed a transaction by 17:51 - that time may be an hour out as the website doesn't compensate for BST).

Absolutely outstanding

Absolutely speechless on how great this store is. Instant postage, free shipping, good prices, package secured like a tank, you could bash an ork with it into a smoothie and the game would be fine... I even got a handwritten "thank you" card. I mean, we're setting an impossible standard for other places here ;)

Thanks a lot and all the best!

I feel bad leaving this review but please read before buying

I feel bad leaving this review as the shop owner (Peter) seems quite nice but I have to let people know my experience.

I ordered a blister pack of 3 destined rivals Pokemon packs for next day delivery (on a Friday). I wasn't expecting it to be delivered the next day as it was a weekend the next day. However, when I still hadn't received it by Monday, I sent them an email. They claimed it would be here Tuesday because the product was "missing a ‘banner’ at the top of the page explaining there would be a delay shipping these items".
I feel like this was an understandable mistake to make but I didn't even get my product until Wednesday. As a result, I wanted to ask for a refund for the delivery fees as I paid for "next-day delivery". The company at first seemingly agreed to this but then later when I contacted them again they claimed this was not what they meant.

Overall, I feel like they are nice people but when they make a mistake, they are not willing to do what's best for the customer. Instead they prioritise profit as "refunding postage fees would take out all the profit for the packs".

I have tried to write back to them but my emails are seemingly now getting ignored.

Thank you for your review. What you've stated is correct - the miscommunication is that we meant we would happily refund and cancel the whole order, not the delivery (next day delivery is the only option we have - all items bought at our store are 'next day' if in stock. As you say, anything with a slight delay usually is clearly marked). We have a very large restock of Pokemon at a time when it's in high demand, and therefore a much larger set of orders to process than usual.

We did slow email contact when you offered a 5 star review if we refunded the postage. While I understand this was probably offered with all best intentions, it could look like we're attempting to 'buy' positive reviews, so we usually disengage with those kinds of requests as a matter of policy.

I'm glad you got your cards with a short delay, but apologies for the miscommunication around the timing for being able to send them out.
