Great value.
I ordered 12 bottles of cava and the quality was really good. The price was very reasonable and delivery was quick and hassle free. I would highly recommend this company.

Ireland: Avoid – You pay, then you get nothing
I placed and fully paid for an order of 24 bottles on 30 August 2026.
Today is 9 September: no dispatch confirmation, no tracking and no response whatsoever.
I have repeatedly contacted Garrafeira da Ilha through their customer service channels. Nobody responds.
They have taken my money and then ...SILENCENo explanation. No communication. No indication of when, or even whether, my order will be dispatched.
Potential customers deserve to know this before handing over their money.

Beware of making a purchase from this company!
Having placed an order, paid £120 for wine and delivery and received confirmation. My experience of dealing with Garrafeira went down hill from there on! I was advised that goods were with UPS who advised me that goods had entered the UK and I now had to pay £94 Import tax and handling charge. I was not mad aware of this at any stage of my dealings with Garrafeira and after emailing them my concern, to date have not received any reply or explanation. Realising I had no option other than to pay. UPS advised me that goods had been cleared, emailed me a delivery date on which they failed to deliver. I rescheduled, stayed at home to be available and was then advised that the driver was unable to deliver to my home address and delivered to a local drop off/collection Post Office. Not Happy would be an under statement about this whole transaction. I would certainly not do business with either company again!!!

We completely understand your frustration. In addition to the unexpected UK import charges, you experienced repeated delivery issues and ultimately had to collect the order from a local collection point.
Following Brexit, alcohol shipped from Portugal to the United Kingdom may be subject to VAT, Excise Duty, customs clearance and other import-related charges determined by the relevant UK authorities. These charges are not collected or retained by Garrafeira da Ilha.
However, we also recognise that the delivery experience itself was extremely disappointing and sincerely regret the inconvenience caused.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that the combination of these issues resulted in such a negative experience.
