Public Record – Selective Access to Large Balances During Extreme Volatility

On 21 November 2025, during an extreme market volatility event (approximately 500–600% price movement), I experienced a serious and prolonged access restriction on Gate.io.

For nearly eight hours, my primary Simple Earn (staking) balance was completely inaccessible and could not be redeemed, despite repeated attempts and continuous contact with support.

At the same time, small test redemptions using the same account and the same crypto-asset were processed instantly, while the main balance remained fully blocked.
This clearly shows that the platform was operational and that there was no system-wide outage or general congestion.

What occurred was a selective, balance-size-dependent access restriction, coinciding exactly with the most volatile and price-sensitive market window.

Access to the main balance was restored only after volatility had subsided and prices had materially reversed, eliminating any realistic ability to exit, rebalance, or protect the position.

Throughout the incident, Gate.io support relied on generic, copy-paste responses such as “high traffic” and “system delay,” while disregarding clear, timestamped evidence showing that selective access was taking place.

The estimated financial impact of this incident is approximately USD 260,000, reflecting denied access, missed exit opportunities, and consequential losses directly linked to the timing and duration of the restriction.

This matter has been escalated beyond customer support and submitted to multiple supervisory authorities.
It is not a routine consumer complaint, but a market integrity and operational conduct issue involving unequal access during extreme volatility.

I am posting this to ensure transparency and to encourage other affected users to come forward so this behaviour can be assessed as a pattern, not dismissed as an isolated technical issue.

I'm a VIP4 user who has been using gate.io for a long time. Withdrawal requests I submitted 12 days ago are still in the "being verified" status. I'm also receiving the "your account has been placed under protection" error and cannot create new withdrawal requests. My account has UID: 46821354 and I opened a support ticket with number 30908211 12 days ago, but they only say the issue is under investigation and do nothing else.

Scam - locked funds unable to withdraw - invalid verification links repeatedly sent - change the security settings locks your account for 24 hours after advised to change - a repeated loop. The firms purposely makes it near impossible to get your funds off the exchange. - Do not trust

My ticket was closed, but I still haven't received a solution for my problem. I replied to the opsgate.com
email 10 days ago, but I still haven't received any answer regarding my issue, not even a confirmation that my email was received. I have never seen such a terrible work style and attitude toward customers as your service has shown.

Opening an account and funding was easy. I added about 25 usdt. withdrawal however was such a pain and practically impossible. In the end I decided that spending hours struggling to withdraw about 25 usdt was a waste of my precious time.
The lose of time and energy is much worse than losing this 25 usdt.
Hopefully this review will save someone from wasting time and energy (and money) on this clunky unprofessional platform.

I have been using Gate.Io for quite some time now and up until recently loved the platform. The problem arises when you actually need help.
I am in the process of a token retrieval and I can NOT for the life of me get any help. Initially I was told that this process would take no more than 24 hours. All questions I have asked are simply ignored and I receive a copy / paste answer. I am waiting on almost $3000 and they simply do not care to answer.
I doubt I will continue to use Gate after such shocking service. I can only hope that somehow I get my funds returned even though as the blockchain shows they are clearly sitting in the nominated deposit account from Gate.

For a platform that claims to value its VIP users, this is absolutely unacceptable. The lack of transparency and communication is shocking. This is a scam. If you buy cryptocurrency here, you'll regret it deeply, especially if you buy spot 5S or 5L. You'll lose everything. This is my personal experience. I deeply regret signing up for gate.com (formerly gate.io). They scammed me out of a lot of money. Be careful; they'll slowly steal your money.

I purchased 2016 XRP5L ETF tokens on the Gate.Io website.
I recently went to check the balance and there were only 2 tokens left.
After contacting support, I was informed that they had done a consolidation.
Do not use the Gate.IO platform, they changed without prior notice to users, just a post on their page. The company knew that the value of the ETF would increase, and they carried out this maneuver that harmed users without prior notice, direct communication such as email, or any warning in the application itself.

I was naive and invested $2,000 USD in a copytrading strategy 30 % charged, developed by their "top bot master". I didn't make any changes to the strategy whatsoever, that should be and two AI bots were terminated after 10 days, which resulted in the loss of money. Support "politely" explains to you that this is your fault. You don't wanna be there, believe me!

After creation of my account on gate io, passed my kyc, deposit money, they are blocked my kyc.
In the same morning.
They sayd I have restrictions in my country, they work on solve the problem.

But I continue to not be able to withdraw my money, cause my kyc is bloqued.

How a company like that allow pass kyc if my country is not accepted??

I have been trading in Gate.io for 2 years now and i have decided to close my account for the following reasons.
1. Most of the customer service team is dragging appeals. They do not care about the lost time of the users.
2. Appeal section insisting on video proof, but uploading cannot be done with low size limits.
3. Team "specialists" are unable to differentiate the genuine user and the scam and repel the genuine user. My last P2P issue was a cancelled order by the buyer that I haven't received funds for or communicated to the order, the buyer intentionally or by mistake activated a dispute, and specialists couldn't resolve it for 3 days.
During the past many times, issues related to P2P decisions were given late, after several days.

This is a scam exchange. They listed a scam token in Alpha. I bought it because I believed the exchange before. After 1 hour they suspended trades in this coin. They still saying there is no liquidity. They didn’t give any warnings before I enter the trade. Unable to sell this scam coin now. Stupid scam exchange. Be aware of this scammers! I had around $321 worth of CIRUS in my Gate.io account. On July 22, 2025, the token was delisted. After that, I was informed that only up to $100 worth would be bought back via a form — the rest will not be returned.

This is completely unacceptable. The delisting notice wasn’t clear enough, and no proper withdrawal period was provided. As a result, users like me are now stuck with unusable tokens and significant losses.

This behavior is not what you expect from a “global” exchange. I demand full compensation for the funds lost and urge others to be extremely cautious with Gate.io.
