I had an incredibly frustrating…
I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Gerber Collision. I brought my vehicle in for panel repair, and while they claimed it was fixed, it clearly was not. I did my due diligence and pointed out that the repaired panel was noticeably larger than the matching fender on the opposite side. They took it back, supposedly to correct the issue—but within less than five minutes, they returned it and claimed it was “fixed.” Nothing had changed. It was a total scam.
I requested that a Gerber representative take a closer look. She told me they had "changed the bracket" and that "this is how it is"—essentially telling me to take it or leave it. That level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. When I asked for proof of the so-called defective parts or even just photos, they had nothing to show. That speaks volumes.
I’ve disputed the payment through my credit card and will be getting fully reimbursed due to Gerber’s dishonesty and failure to provide the service I paid for. Shame on them for treating customers this way and thinking they can get away with such behavior.
I won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to think twice before trusting them with your vehicle.
Great service
Great service, car looks great. When I called everyone was polite and got my questions answered. Matthew was courteous and kept me informed of my repairs.
Gerber Collision Did Wonders on My Vehicle
Gerber Collision Repair on Foster Drive in McDonough, Georgia did an AMAZING job on my 2018 Altima! Huge High-Fives to Randi, who was my service advisor. She was absolutely great, professional, friendly, and communicative throughout the entire process.
Terrible
Terrible!
I purchased a car that had minor front end damage (drivable) and came in for an estimate as I was paying out of pocket. Advisor came out with an attitude and the personality of an undertaker. Asked where I purchased it and I said an auction and he snapped back that he wouldn't even look at it. Rude and unprofessional. I will surely be sharing my experience elsewhere to warn people of your lack of customer service/professionalism.
What wonderful people and service.
What wonderful people and service.
Someone ran into my car and did damage, which is usually the beginning of a nerve wracking experience. The process of getting my car repaired went smoothly, because the people at Gerber Collision are thoughtful, do great work, keep you posted about repair progress, and make getting the rental back a breeze.
When I first looked at this company to…
When I first looked at this company to repair my vehicle, I saw numerous reviews about how well they communicated with their clients. I wish I could say I had the same experience.
I was in a head on car accident 12/9/24, the damage was pretty severe to my car. Going through the insurance I requested Gerber for the repairs after hearing their reviews. I feel like this was the first mistake.
According to their text message update system, the repairs to my car were supposed to be completed 1/17/25. I received a text message from them on 1/9/25 saying “Hi Jordan, we are nearing completion. If we encounter any delays, we’ll call you.”
1/17/25 - I called the office to confirm what time my vehicle would be ready for pickup, the receptionist Judy said that the estimated completion was now 2/3/25. I was understandably confused and requested to speak with the mechanic for the case - Chris.
On the call with Chris he said that the radiator he ordered arrived cracked and they had to wait for a new one. Fine by me, but would have appreciated an update. I further requested regular updates on how it's progressing. After being blindsided by a delay that should’ve been told to me, I think this is understandable. According to Chris, the estimated date of completion was “middle of next week” (1/21-1/22).
After this phone call I did receive regular updates from Chris who was supposedly managing this repair.
On 1/23 I was told by Chris “We’re just about there. It’s looking like we’ll have it ready for the calibrations late tomorrow morning. I have the request set up, so everything should be pretty streamlined.”
On 1/24 I reached out about the status of the calibrations. I received a text from Chris stating “They actually haven’t made it out here yet. That's a good thing though, we just got it all buttoned and ready maybe 20 minutes ago. They’ll be here this afternoon to do them. I’ll let you know once they arrive.”
At 3:05 PM on 1/24 I received another text from Chris stating “I just called the calibration company to get a timeframe. They let me know their mobile tech. Has been tied up on the same one all afternoon. They’re doubtful that he’ll make it out to me by the end of the day”
I proceeded to call Chris and hear it from him verbally, he told me the calibration was delayed because the unit was stuck fixing “some european car” all day. Following this phone call I did request the manager give me a call, and decided to take a trip up to the shop to see the status of the car.
And I'm glad I did.
I arrived to the shop about 30 minutes after the phone call and was greeted by Chris stating “Ok, I was wrong” he did not go out to see the car at all, and “I was severely misinformed.”
I was brought out to the shop to see my car missing the front bumper.
How is that “buttoned up and ready to go?”
I requested to speak to the manager (Cornell) after this discovery. The phone call that ensued involved the manager saying that he took over repairs of my car, not informing anyone I can only assume. That he ‘didn't like the way the fit of 2 ends caps were’ and ‘had them replaced’ - thus requiring the bumper to be removed. This was never informed to anyone apparently, as the supposed mechanic Chris didn't even know the status of the vehicle he was giving me updates on. They were very apologetic during this meeting, but that can only go so far. The new updated completion time is now 1/30. We shall see if this is actually the end of this situation.
To their credit they did extend my current rental car (after having my car for 44+ days).
From the initial delay that was not mentioned to me until the date of pickup, to the numerous followup delays, to the state my car was in when I was told it was “all buttoned up” with the bumper missing. Due to the sheer lack of communication from this company, I cannot recommend them to anyone, and will actively steer people clear of this business.
Awful, lying company who constantly makes excuses that it's not their fault.
I'm putting this review across all the social media sites I know.
My insurance company sent me to Gerber for my no-fault accident to my driver and passenger side. "Ever since they worked on my car, it's never worked the same again."
They did a good job with the exterior work. However, when you have "internal issues" after they fixed it, they would just lie and make excuses that it's the make and model of my car. They say my issues are not due to the major impact on my car - Lies.
When I discovered they never hooked up my "left turn signal," making me drive without one, they didn't even apologize to me. Two people I spoke about this, the receptionist and another service specialist. No apologies or acknowlegement "for their mistake" from either one of them. I could have gotten into another accident without my turn signal.
When I told them my car no longer beeps like it did "before" I came to them, they said my car never had this set up and to go back to Honda. Honda says all cars beep when you hit the keyfob - Another lie.
They also never secured the "liners" under my car causing the liners to scrap and drag when driving.
The other major issues I've had was my car "alarm" that would always go off by itself.
When I spoke to them again about this, their excuse is "it's a common issue with my make and model" - Another lie according to Honda.
Then when I tried to get them to look at my alarm system that kept going off, they said the diagnostic cost is $350 and that doesn't apply to the repair costs like other autoshops do.
I had to pay out of pocket to fix my alarm. The stereo company that fixed my alarm issues said it was the sensors that got "knocked off" due to the major impact to my car.
I even spoke to another customer I met at an auto shop saying this company is awful and will never go back.
All they do is make excuses after excuses (lies) that it's not their fault. They didn't hook up things right when they finished my car. And I know the impact of my major accident caused these other internal issues that they don't want to fix and make things right.
This company suck
This company suck! They don’t know what they’re doing and the ladies all have attitude problems if you want your car repaired correctly do not take it to this company. I witnessed one of the workers cussing a customer out after the customer called and complained about their repairs I had a bad feeling about this place Farmington mi location need to be put out of business asap!
Subpar work and won’t provide transportation
I recently had work done on my front and rear bumpers, and the quality is disappointing—there's excessive orange peel, making it look like it was done by an amateur. When I tried to schedule an appointment to have it corrected, Gerber refused to provide a loaner vehicle, even though they need my car for the entire day. I have work and other commitments and can’t spend the whole day waiting. It’s unfair that I should bear any costs or inconvenience due to their subpar repair work.
Unprofessional
Very difficult to work with. Wouldn't give me a window of when they would be coming out to do the work. Had to replace parts 3 different times as they were using off brand parts. Was yelled at by staff. Highly unprofessional.
What a mess
What a mess. I was just in there and they have no idea what is going on. The women are all confused and the long hair one is toxic as hell.
What a smart ass.
Don’t go here.
Great job on my brand new rav 4
DO NOT GO HERE
DO NOT GO HERE
My insurance company recommended them and they didn't do a good job. Made them redo it, they had it two more weeks and still looks like a highschool shop class put it together. Fender and bumper don't line up, They used cheap aftermarket parts and told me they used OEM parts. No comunication, Verry rude after I pointed out what was wrong and then they told me "thats the best that they can do". Go somewhere else!!! Gresham Oregon
my insurance company recommend I go the…Gerber bad idea!
my insurance company recommend I go the Gerber Collision in Melbourne FL on Hbiscus Street. I was happy with the previous service I received in the past at Tire Kingdom, but my insurance company said I needed to go to a shop that could do more sophisticated repairs. Big mistake!! Gerber had a local Firestone replace 2 tires however, Firestone never tightly secured one of my hubcaps. I have never lost a hubcap previously even when I hit 2 different curbs. I requested from Gerber, at a minimum, a used hubcap. I called Gerber at least 8 times over the last 3 months requesting the status of my hubcap. I was told repeatedly they would get me one.
They never did! Do not go here!
Terrible workmanship and customer service
The work performed on the vehicle was poor as they left swirl marks on the vehicle. They also cut corners to make insurance company happy. The repair shop does not care about the customer and when it was time to get them to correct a problem they refused to take the car back. Do not recommend anyone to go there. This shop should be closed down if others see the review. I would give them zero stars as they are in bed with insurance companies to make the work cheap and that is what they provide a cheap job.
I had a great exoeruence with gerber
I had a great exoeruence with gerber. Don Sr. is especially nice. the receptionist seems more assertive after she got glasses. I wish you had coffee. Questions were well received and answered by all! Thank you….
Don't use Gerber Collison
I brought my car in to Gerber Collision for an insurance collision repair. The estimator left off part of the damage to the car in the claim, causing me to have to file a second claim with a second deductible. They also damaged my stereo and would not fix it. They even tried to bill my insurance company to repair it when it wasn't damaged in the accident I had, it worked perfectly fine when I brought my car to them. And now, the tire sensor keeps coming on when the car is warm. I feel very taken advantage of and disappointed in the quality control in this country. They should have repaired the stereo and tire sensor and not charged me a second deductible to fix my car.
The location in my town has a lot of…
The location in my town has a lot of kids working there. The painter sucks and messes up the paint jobs. They let boyfriend and girlfriends work up there together. They also let people who are related work there. Half the tech call out of work and show up late and the writers flirt with the body techs and text them after work hours. The manager tries to be more of a friend than a boss and is also very flirty in her text to employees and I’ve found her to be a bit untruthful about job positions. You’ll probably be waiting a while on your car to be fixed. Don’t even get me started on how the techs can do 20 hours of work in 2 hours and most of the time your vehicle is not getting factory parts. The company buys aftermarket parts that are cheaper. You’re better off using caliber collision!
RUN from this company
I unfortunately had this company do repair work after an accident. The repair required an alignment. They supposedly did so. At least, they charged for it. However, it was poorly done. The car pulls hard to the right. I think they eyeballed it and just charged as if they did. Talked to a person that claims to be the manager. He said that he would have it done again but I would have to turn my car over to them and risk having my car stolen or vandalized. The place he claims to have had the alignment done at is next door. I suggested meeting him there to have it done. But he said that if it was done that way, I would have to pay for it. Why? I have to turn car over to his staff and leave it. Why? Unless plans to claim to have alignment done but not. Plus, probably hope that I would leave something(s) valuable in car. These clowns will NEVER have access to my car again. If I have to pay to have it done, then will take it some place that can be trusted.
This company requires a waiver of responsibility. This should have been a RED Flag. This waiver says Gerber isn’t responsible for ANYTHING that happens to the car, regardless of what or by whom. When I picked up my car, all the doors were unlocked and the passenger window was fully down. They aren’t even capable of basic security. Wholly negligent. They had my car for almost a month. During that time, it rained and high winds. The interior car had dust and showed water damage. I had taken anything of any value in the car out prior to taking car there. However, I did have some junk in the trunk. It looked like they ransacked it. They believe the waiver protects them and can do whatever they like. This is not specific to this location but is a company culture. Look at other reviews. See this is so. Just don’t look at feedback/reviews on their website. They don’t post negative posts. I’d bet they are posted by employees/friends or bought. This type of environment (no responsibility) encourages bad things to happen.
Another concern, would be their payments. They claim they take credit cards but this was a lie. They told me that they will only take debit. They will not take cash either. So forced to use debit. Debit has NO protection from the bank for fraud. Far as the bank is concerned, it’s cash. Could easily change the amount after I walk out the door. Looks like a setup to me.
Don’t know about the body work. Right now it looks good, but let’s see in 6 months. I think this is a re-skinned Maaco.
