Fantastic service and a lovely friendly family business

Gerard’s are just the sort of auction house you want to do business with. In this day and age of high commission charges as a buyer with little tangible to show for it, Gerard’s are different. Sensible commission charges, with the convenience of their own bidding platform online and an in-house P&P option - increasingly hard to find as auctioneers seem to be pushing buyers to expensive 3rd party options. Their customer service was very friendly, personal and helpful. From winning to receiving my lot was just over a week, which is excellent (thanks to Carole). All in all it means I will happily bid or sell with Gerard’s. A breath of fresh air.

Gerrards came to a venue local to me seeking old gold and silver jewellery, etc. I took along a small selection of old gold chains that I would never wear again. I was happy to receive a much more substantial sum than I could have expected. Debs was very friendly and helpful in checking the quality of my items. Would def recommend a visit if you have unused jewellery that, like mine, may otherwise end up being binned.

Very unimpressed with the way I was treated. Items were literally 'shoved' back towards me over the table, possessions that might be worthless to you but are of sentimental value to me. You also say on your website that you had a special interest in vintage musical instruments so I brought some along and they were rejected with hardly a second glance. I also brought some gold but you didn't have the necessary equipment to test it was real and of what quality - how pointless is that?! Complete waste of my time. Wouldn't come again nor recommend anybody else do so,

Was a bit sad going to the selling venue, but the ring I had was not going to be forwarded to a relative, there are none. I don't know if I dealt with Debs or Lizzy, but the compassion she showed me was so caring, which I really thank her for. I feel the price I was given was extremely fair, I had no idea, but I was happy. Would totally recommend this company, real people and compassionate.

I took some items to Gerrards for valuation. Their examination and weighing was cursory and they offered me £350 for several items. I refused their offer and approached a different company who have paid over £1300, correctly weighing the same items and identifying the different weights of gold.

Edit in response to reply from Gerrards: I took the items - two watches with gold bracelets and two gold rings to Abergavenny on 22 /11.

I am a big fan of auction houses that provide their own packing and postage service. They are usually much cheaper and quicker than having to organise a specialist courier. For this purchase from Gerrards, Carole safely packed up and sent a nativity set with lots of potentially breakable items at a fair and reasonable cost.

I can’t thank Gerard’s enough for their help with a very frustrating situation. The Royal Mail stole/lost my mums engagement ring being send by special delivery to be remodelled. Despite supposedly being covered, they refused for months to pay me compensation without proof of purchase etc. How could I do that with a decades old ring and my mum having died 16yrs ago. All they would give me was 8 1st class stamps!! Gerrards provided me with a valuation to replace. I can now use this to make Royal Mail compensate me. I am VERY grateful for this as well as the helpful demeanour and good communication.

Excellent description along with really clear Photographs ,and accurate details of the related cost after the hammer price Including the cost P&P .I received my Package just over a week after the auction and was notified when it would arrive .the item was very well packed and arrived safe and sound and was obviously packed with care .I would rate my transaction with GerrardsAuction rooms at 100% satisfaction .

Great descriptions and photos of items and easy to register and live bid.
Invoice automatically includes the shipping cost (very reasonable for excellent packing and special delivery, to cover insurance).
Once invoice paid, received items within a working day.
Will definitely hope to win lots in the future.

My Victorian ring is just as beautiful in real life as in the photos. Online bidding was simple. Payment was easy. Overseas delivery was smooth. Very happy.

Bought an accordion from these guys. Was pleasantly surprised to find they have their own packing department. All arrived safely, and as I'm the other end of the country I couldn't have had an easier way of arranging delivery. Many thanks!

I would definitely buy from this auction house again. Carole was extremely helpful, and when my parcel arrived I was impressed with the care taken in packing my items. So many other auction houses leave you to your own devices when it comes to shipping, which can be expensive and incur a long wait! Not here!

I visited a valuation event in Coupar Angus today. I was very unsure about what would be involved. I had a selection of gold, silver and costume jewellery. I was extremely happy with the amount of money I was offered and accepted. There was absolutely no pressure and the whole experience was quick and professional.
