Customer service nonexistent and id verify virtually impossible

Trying to get someone to reply to help questions is the equivalent of speaking to a brick wall. I've been battling with these people to replace an irretrievable device since Monday this week. The agents are active most of the time but don't let that green dot fool you into believing assistance is just a quick DM away because it is not. Oh and here's the real kick in the groin is that they use a "id verification" service known as withpersona.com. Their Trustpilot review got 1.2 stars because despite using the highest quality scanned image of a valid government id, they NEVER are successful. So after getting past the first hurdle of getting one of AKKO's rep's to reply in a timely manner, if at all then you have the impossible task of having your "id verified" as they call it. It's now been a week since my phone has been gone and claim submitted. Make this right AKKO, you guys somehow have an excellent rating on this platform unfortunately for me that has NOT been my experience. I'm also posting this same review on the BBB website in hopes one of these will get their attention. Its claim #38559

Fast and efficient

Fast and efficient I was able to get my phone fixed in an hour after filing a claim online very easy any questions I had were answered promptly by the representatives at AKKO

Type of coverage

I have had this cellphone insurance for years, and only this week I needed to file a claim. I filed the claim, and within a day, I had a response with instructions on where to take my phone for repair and the amount it was covered. No run around, no double talk. The claim was fast and very easy. I highly recommend this AWESOME coverage!

Recent stress taken away by Akko!

I had a really great experience with Akko. Unfortunately I lost a couple of my devices recently (which was stressful enough), but filing a claim was surprisingly easy. The process was straightforward, everything was clearly explained, and I didn’t feel like I had to jump through hoops to get help.

What could have been a total nightmare turned into a smooth, manageable situation. I’m really glad I had coverage and would definitely recommend Akko to anyone wanting peace of mind for their devices.

Had my phone stolen, akko saved the day

Had my phone stolen, and thankfully I had akko. filed a police report, filed a claim and after some back and forth had my replacement approved. Their system was using incorrect comps so I had to share comparables but they approved in 15 minutes, very prompt resolution.

Claim process was mostly smooth but…

Claim process was mostly smooth but definitly could use some improvements. The size limit for uploads is small, but besides that claim process was not too bad. I filed claim, got approved later that same day. Took it to Apple Store that weekend, and got it repaired. Claim payout took about 2 days since their was some system issues but chat was able to manually send it to my PayPal and took less than 5 minutes.

AKKO is THE way to go when it comes to…

AKKO is THE way to go when it comes to electronics insurance. I’ve been using them for several years now and I’ve never looked back. Seriously only $15 a month to cover ALL your electronics. Plus, the deductibles are only $29-$99 which is a steal. More often than not I’m just doing a screen replacement which is $29 but recently I had to replace my stolen iPhone. Filing my claim was super easy and within 24 hours, I had already purchased a new iPhone and was sent the money to cover my purchase quickly after. Anytime I go to Apple they always ask if I want to purchase AppleCare and I tell them “No Thanks!” And I tell them about how great AKKO is. I seriously well never consider anything but AKKO when it comes to protecting my electronics.

Great Price for a Great Deal

Had a really good experience with Akko. I got it for a good price from US Mobile and I was nervous because I had only ever used AppleCare but it was super painless and I was able to easily get my phone repaired by Apple with Akko paying out seconds after uploading my receipt.

Akko gives me peace of mind

Akko gives me peace of mind. When my phone was stolen on a city street I was convinced of the need for device insurance. I'm glad I found Akko. It's allowed me to keep my replacement in top shape much longer than I have in the past. I've had two claims. The approval process was fast on the first case, but took two days the second time. After that the process was super simple. I paid for the approved repair, and was paid back via PayPal (or Venmo) in minutes. Saved me hundreds.

I had a positive experience with Akko Insurance. The claims process was straightforward and handled efficiently through the app. Customer support was helpful and professional, though wait times to connect could be a bit long. I also appreciate that the coverage works in Canada even though the company is based in the U.S. Overall, a reliable option for device insurance.

AKKO Insurance Saved my s24 Ultra Fast, fair, and actually stress free!

I’ve gotta say, my experience with AKKO insurance was hands-down the best I’ve ever had with any kind of device protection plan. My Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra took a dive into the pool a couple months back—total water damage, phone completely bricked, wouldn’t turn on at all. I was gutted because that thing was basically my life (work, photos, everything).
Filed the claim through their app super easily—just uploaded pics of the damage, described what happened, and answered a few quick questions. The team got back to me the same day, super calm and respectful the whole time. No attitude, no grilling me like I was trying to scam them—just straightforward, helpful, and understanding. They approved the claim in like 48 hours, processed everything fast, and I got a full replacement reimbursement (after the low deductible) way quicker than I expected. Paid out through PayPal in under a week total from filing to money in my account.
Compared to carrier insurance or AppleCare horror stories I’ve heard, AKKO made the whole stressful situation actually bearable. Their reps were polite, quick to respond, and didn’t drag things out. If you’re clumsy like me or just want solid coverage without the headache, AKKO is the way to go. 100% recommend them to anyone—especially if you’ve got a pricey phone like the S24 Ultra.
10/10, saved my sanity and my wallet. Thanks AKKO!

I would NOT recommend Akko

I would NOT recommend Akko device protection. They approved my repair, and said I could go to Apple Store to have my iPhone repaired. I went to Apple Store and paid over $400 for the repair, and then submitted the receipt to Akko and now they are stalling the reimbursement and asking for tons of different email. I have sent them the Apple Store receipt, Apple Store Work Authorization, Apple Store Work Confirmation email AND even my American Express card transaction showing the repair at the Apple Store. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AKKO THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING TO NOT PAY YOUR CLAIM AFTER THEY APPROVE IT.

Literally not a single complaint i can really think of.

The entire process overall — and in all of its little details — of doing business with getakko i would say has probably been extremely easy, transparent, professional, and punctual. Even in the inevitable nuanced, complex situations (like when i had to reach out and work/communicate with them about a claim that began in 1 policy year, but wasn’t finished processing until during a 2nd policy year/period) — they hit all those parameters i just previously mentioned. Not a single complaint from me; so great (if not perfect) service overall I’d say.
