Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 69 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the pricing, finding that the final cost was significantly higher than initially advertised due to hidden fees and taxes. The booking process was also a major source of frustration, as customers often believed they were booking directly with the hotel but were instead redirected to a third-party site. Reviewers frequently reported issues with the website's misleading design, which mimicked official hotel sites, leading to confusion and unexpected charges. The payment process was criticized for including undisclosed service fees and currency conversions. Furthermore, many people were unhappy with the cancellation policies, which often resulted in losing the full booking amount or incurring additional charges, even when attempting to cancel immediately.

Mimics hotel websites

Mimics hotel websites. Total scam. Do not book on this website. I called 24 hours after I realized how dishonest this site is. They would not refund my money and promised a supervisor would call me (which never happened). Run from this site!!!!

Scam @ getaroom.com

Like others, I thought ( and should have checked ) that I was booking direct with the hotel’s website for a room rate of £136. An additional 50% was taken in “service” and “tax” charges making the cost 35-40% more expensive than a respectable site like Booking.com. Their activities need to be taken down

Same as most other comments

Same as most other comments - be careful, you think you're on the official hotel website but you're not. They charge the advertised rate then add a "tax recovery" charge and a service fee. We ended up paying 60% more than we expected! Don't use them they're con artists.

Scammers

These people take fees they call hotel fees! The hotel itself never have these extra charges. It’s in VERY small writing when you finalize the booking. It doesn’t give you the total price anywhere else! Totally scammers, and I’m afraid there are many more people that will do this same mistake! And they will steal more money!

If I could give them minus stars I would. I thought I was dealing directly with the hotel because of the interface of their website. When I saw the booking fees of nearly €150 I cancelled - within 2 mins - then saw that they'd charged me €500 cancellation fee! They refuse point blank to just cancel the cancellation - their system doesn't allow it. Supervisors don't ring back. Don't use these people. It's an absolute scam.

Don't book via this website and be careful as it looks.like you are booking direct. There was no option to check my booking before it went through. I realised I had made an error straight away but absolutely no way of contacting them! They have numbers but none work. Plus the hotel will tell you your booking is via booking.com but it isn't and they won't speak to you either. I feel conned! £150+ poof gone!!!!

Efforts to recover money has been fruitless. Basically got told "tough Luck"

Deceptive business practices

Deceptive business practices, pretends to be the hotel itself or the hotel's agent but applies £35 in extra charges at checkout for nothing. My 'fault' for not cross checking with other providers but they appear legit and I (naively) don't assume companies will behave like this when they will do themselves so much damage with atrocious reviews. What they have done is probably legal but dishonest and exploitative, so I hope everyone else checks up and avoids them. Go direct, semi-legal scam company.

And the hotel they booked doesn't know anything of my booking.

I want all of my money back and it's not possible

ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!! Don't book with them .

SCAM! Booking never made

This review applies to Priceline, getaroom.com and guestreservations.com, as all three appear to be shells of the same entity.

I made a booking though guestreservations.con for a hotel stay in Spain this summer. My booking made through Guestreservations was never subsequently booking with the hotel I was to stay at. When I contacted the hotel directly to make a query ahead of the stay they informed me no booking under my name had been made. Guestreservations.com tried to provide me with fake confirmation numbers which the hotel confirmed did not exist and didn't even match their confirmation number format. Nearly €600 was charged for a reservation that never existed. The company is now claiming there is a no refund policy on the booking (WHICH IS NON-EXISTANT!!) All documents showing this have been sent to the Priceline customer service team and they are refusing to acknowledge the booking was fake and will not offer a refund.
The confirmation for the booking was when entered into the guestreservation.com site, redirects to a getaroom.com page with booking details. Both sites have Priceline operating as their customer service.

THESE COMPANIES ARE SCAMS. AVOID!!!

SCAM🥲

1. I wanted to book a room at Milling Hotel Windsor and followed the link: millinghotelwindsor.guestreservations.com. This site is affiliated with getaroom.com, but due to its domain name and visual design, it can easily be mistaken for the hotel's official website.

2. The site displays prices excluding taxes, in euros—which is unusual for Europe—so the price may appear lower than it actually is. The final amount is only revealed right before payment, in very small print.

3. Then you have two options: do nothing or cancel the reservation. If you click the cancel button, the site instantly cancels your booking and keeps your money. They have no intention of refunding it, as the contract includes a vague clause in fine print: “if you are unable to check into the hotel, no refund will be issued.” In reality, I can't check in because my reservation was already canceled.

4. Their customer support only has a U.S. phone number, which is difficult to reach, and email responses take at least 7 days.

5. Nearly 11,000 reviews with an average rating of 1.4 suggest this is a scam operation that preys on people’s inattention.

Dishonest business

Dishonest business. Scammers. Don’t book through them. A greedy American business out to scam people. Took my money of $1,300 and I have no booking so no accommodation. Typical American evil company. They go under name guest reservations. Refund my $1,300. Thieves.

Scam

This site spoofs the official hotel site and then adds an extremely high fee - in my case an extra $110.99
Do not use them. You think you are on the official hotel website. You book and get an email from guestreservations and after the charge goes through you get hit with the high fee from getaroom. I get to the hotel and they say I booked through expedia. Then my Amex bill says I booked through priceline. Total scam.

Deceptive practices.

I was attempting to book directly from what I thought was the hotel's website. I feel like Getaroom.com disguises their site to intercept customers who really don't need their service. I booked a room that was priced at $152. While reviewing my credit card account I noticed that I was being charged $229 total for the room. I checked the reservation and discovered nearly $60 in service fees on the reservation. Fortunately for me I was able to cancel this reservation for a full refund and rebook on the hotel's actual site for the same price around $168 total without the unnecessary service fees charged by getaroom.com.

Absolute ripoff !!!

Absolute ripoff !!!! I booked a hotel believing it was the Hotel website; I paid with my credit card and it wasn’t until I read the final account that there was these various charges without it seems any recourse .
When booking the hotel, it was stated that I could cancel up until 24 hours prior to arriving as in my case that was necessary due to personal circumstances.
Reading the website after everything was finalised, there is no way to obtain a refund.
Once again, a massive scam !!!!!
