I love this safe

I love this safe, I keep all my valuables in it. I have a small box and mounted it to the wall and slid my safe into it and secured it with the wings. Great and easy to use..

I like the safe but...

I like the safe, which I bought about a year ago. However, it recently ran out of batteries and I have misplaced the backup key. I tried contacting support to get a replacement key, but there is no answer on the support phone line (1-800-485-8904) and no response from email support (Support{at}SmartSafe.com). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Update - I did see the response below last night, and I did also receive an email response this morning with an offer to send a replacement key for a fee. However, before any of that, I decided to brake into my own safe since I hadn't received any response to my prior communications. Unfortunately, there is some damage to the device, but I think I can still use it.

Fantastic customer service and support…

Fantastic customer service and support from Mitch who really took care of me.
I actually made a mistake in registering the safe owner as a regular user which caused me to not be able to have rights to manage the safe as owner but the issue got resolved in less than 30 mins.
The Smartsafe XL model arrived in a day!
Quite robust and very exceptional value for the money as it is much larger and more solidly built than the Bolt and worth every penny.
Highly recommend this division of Motorola and the Smartsafe XL product especially.
Thanks for a great customer experience !

We responded to this customer right away after his first request for assistance. After trying to assist with his initial problem here was his reply...

"So OK now it’s telling me I have invalid credentials and that my token is no good. Somebody please call me and get this thing working or some I’m gonna return it to you busted up in 1 million pieces. I don’t know why you tried to make me a new account I already made an account but it’s telling me my credentials are invalid once again someone better be calling me soon to the number below or I’m sending this piece of shit back."

We still tried to assist, but unfortunately we were not able to find a satisfactory conclusion for this customer. We stand by our product and our customer service.

I'd say the safe is a solid 2.5

I'd say the safe is a solid 2.5. The connectivity is a joke. There should be an NFC chip that I can use my cell phone to unlock. But that's not why I gave the safe a low rating.
I followed the setup instructions - word by word. Still, the fingerprint reader works half the time. The other half I have to wait 10 mins for it to reset ( Like everyone who has ever owned an iphone, I know how to register a fingerprint ). The customizable code never took. Despite multiple attempts. Thank god you have a key, which has to be stored in a much cheaper safe, in another part of the house. I'd say the electronics for this safe is half baked and should be revised given the price.

Great upgrade

Recently renovated my home and my GunVault safe no longer fit with my new closet shelving. I decided to replace it with the Motorola Smart Safe XL.

I'm very happy with this purchase. It's great with kids, as I have realtime notifications if it is opened or tampered. I also like the interior LED lighting.

A few things to know:

1. This safe is more of way to deter theft than a way to prevent theft. If you need protection of high value items, I would go with something much heavier.
2. The fingerprint reader behaves inconsistently for me. I do not depend on it - may not work well in a stressful situation to open the safe.
3. You cannot remotely open the safe via the app until someone "wakes" it with a button. This is not intuitive at first.

The app is very much an MVP release. Lots of opportunities to improve the usability. The app is oddly designed around owning a fleet of safes. How many people have more than 1 safe in their home? The home screen should default to the features you're likely to use - 1 click to open or check on the status.

I also would have liked the option to purchase in a white color to match my closet. Not a big deal.

I had to cut the power cord to run it through a drilled hole in my closet shelves. Would have been nice if the safe was designed to run on a 5V USB input like your phone (micro type B?). Would be easier to run the cables to power this.

Terrible service

Never received product seems like a scam unable to trace or track no help from company I never said they were stolen I said they never arrives I was at home waiting and when you claimed it was delivered one was here I was here and I have a front camera which shows no one came to my home

Seriously frustrated and dissatisfied

Seriously frustrated and dissatisfied original date of order was 01/26 order was not properly processed and or shipped after extensive emails to Mitch and support order final arrived in unacceptable condition safe package was open keys were missing lock was scratched??? Unable to set up pending response and adequate resolution in a timely manner just sent several documented e-mails photos and video to Mitch and support a simple purchase has turned into an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience too many emails to get the unit as well as too many requests for tracking and to finally receive a defective units and missing keys is beyond comprehension on any level hopefully this company make a severe wrong a corrective right in a timely and efficient manner

Multi user doesn't work, support unhelpful

I bought this safe specifically because I need multi-user access with different codes. I've been unable to add any additional users either from the safe itself or from the app and support has been unhelpful, just sending me the manual (which I already had and had followed) rather than helping with any troubleshooting. Also of note -- it appears that even if multi-user were working, every user will need to be associated with its own email address/account. There is no way to just add an additional code to grant temporary access without some hassle on the part of the temporary user.
