I own a Gloster outdoor teak sectional…
I own a Gloster outdoor teak sectional couch. I live by the beach.
Quality of the furniture is very good... except that the various furniture sections were connected using wingnut butterfly screws that are NOT stainless steel. Result.... heavy rust after 3.5 years... in another year or so those wingnuts will disintegrate and I will be unable to disassemble the sections (which is necessary for proper yearly cleaning/treatment of the teak). I contacted customer service asking for them to send stainless steel replacement screws.... answer was basically "no". I asked for non- stainless steel replacements. Once again..."no". I will say they were very responsive. But, ultimately their attitude was "You live near ocean.... you should expect these screws to rust.... you're on your own." Hmmm....I don't buy that reasoning... especially when using stainless steel screws for outdoor furniture ANYWHERE would seem to be standard practice, especially at these high- end prices. I will go and remove all the rusting screws and replace with stainless steel screws... at my cost. Gloster will not reimburse. Stainless steel screws are not cheap. Yes... this is all somewhat minor but Gloster should have offered, at the very least, to reimburse me.
