Rented a camper through Goboony and had…

Rented a camper through Goboony and had nothing but trouble, even getting stranded twice in Italy. Their road assistance (not Goboony, but another company) was very good, but Goboony did nothing to help us resolve a dispute with the camper's owner. Their so-called "geschillen" process doesn't do anything and isn't even recognised by the camper's owner. The owner even said that, whatever the outcome of a dispute, they had no legal basis to do anything.

So please do yourself a favour, use a more respectable way to rent a camper (Roadsurfer or similar). And if you still use this platform, pray that nothing goes wrong with the vehicule during your holiday. Goboony is only it in to get a profit and not in making dream holiday happen.

No camper holiday sadly

The camper owner pulled out of the deal saying they had decided to sell the camper. All of my money was returned however they had all my funds for a few months (good way of earning some interest !). I felt gaboony did zero in protecting me from this cancelled holiday, wasted holiday time from work. I wouldn’t look to use this service again. Your better off hiring from a proper hire company.

Utterly unacceptable experience

Utterly unacceptable experience with their "support" team.

I paid £1,200 for a van over the Christmas period, only to be handed a faulty vehicle that made our trip impossible. What followed was even worse: complete radio silence from Goboony. Despite multiple emails and repeated requests for someone to call me about my refund, I heard nothing until January — and even then, responses have been slow, evasive, and dismissive. They still haven’t acknowledged my multiple requests for a call, nor have they refunded the money for a service they failed to provide.

This isn’t an isolated incident either. In 2024, I booked another van through Goboony for Boxing Day, only for the owner to cancel on Christmas Day itself. We were left stranded up north with no onward travel. Thankfully, Quirky Campers stepped in at the last minute and saved us.

The lack of accountability, communication, and basic customer care is appalling. Hoboony has taken my money without delivering the service promised, and their refusal to engage or resolve issues speaks volumes.

I will never use or recommend Goboony again, and strongly urge others to avoid this company.

All vehicles on the platform are required to undergo maintenance and mechanical checks as standard. However, as a peer-to-peer platform, it’s ultimately the owner’s responsibility to provide a working vehicle.

I’ve reviewed your case in detail and can see that, due to the vehicle being returned due to unforeseen issues, the owner has refunded the earnings to you in full. Goboony has also agreed to refund the service and booking fees, which have now been processed by our team.

Regarding the booking in 2024, we’re very sorry that the owner cancelled at such short notice. We can see that the cancellation took place on the morning of Christmas Eve, and our team alerted you immediately, shared alternative options, and offered to contact other owners directly to check availability. While we understand that last-minute cancellations are incredibly frustrating, our team did everything they could to support you at the time.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our customer experience.

Easy to use

Easy to use, fast and efficient. I was put in touch with my chosen vehicle owner and within the hour our hire was confirmed and deposit paid.

Too early to give a full review, so I'll be back

We opened our Goboony account a couple of weeks ago to advertise our motorhome for hire. The initial setup process was straightforward, and the customer service representative was helpful in answering questions and assisting where needed.

Within two weeks we received three enquiries, which initially seemed encouraging. However, only one resulted in a confirmed booking, with the other two proving to be a complete waste of time. We appreciate this may be part and parcel of online platforms, but it was still disappointing.

The website itself is well designed and generally provides all the information required to hire or rent out a motorhome. That said, the commission structure is where Goboony really lets itself down. On a booking costing the hirer just under £800, we receive £420, while Goboony takes nearly £160 in commission alone.

What is particularly irritating is that Goboony also charges commission on our £50 exterior cleaning fee, despite having absolutely no involvement in the cleaning process whatsoever. Frankly, this feels opportunistic and unjustified. The remaining balance is absorbed by insurance and excess costs, and while insurance is of course necessary, there is little transparency around how much of this is retained by Goboony.

We will continue using the platform for now, but unless the commission structure becomes more reasonable, it is difficult to see how this represents fair value for owners.

Expensive insurance

We have used GoBoony before and had a great experience previously. Now, we really struggled with the searches: trying to narrow down the available Motorhomes in particular locations was frustrating. And then the cos of the GoBoony insurance is a massive deterrent. For two weeks, we’re paying more than our annual motor insurance… in London. Bad.

Inaccurate stats support lazy owners

Once an owner replied to our request, the process went very smoothly. However, multiple owners did not respond at all which makes the whole process very frustrating with no recourse to identify owners who can’t be bothered.

There should be an option to be able to report lack of response and highlight this against owners to show the whole picture on how responsive owners really are. As it is the statistics are weighted and inaccurate. ie. An owner could respond nicely to 10 out of 90 requests ignoring the rest, and will therefore get very favourable reviews on a very poor performance.
