Godney Arts House is a self catering farmhouse in Somerset sleeping up to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms all ensuite. A stylish fusion of old & new, with unique art & interior design at every turn. Our concept is simple – to offer an alternative to the bland. We want to share our passions in art, design and interiors, we create a quixotic atmosphere, we defy convention. Your stay at Godney Arts House will be a memorable and enchanting experience. Throughout the year we aim to show case national and international artists. A unique way for you to share our vision. Much of the furniture, fittings and artworks are for sale, making Godney Arts House a living gallery. We try to tread lightly on our environment. When renovating both buildings we have taken positive action to enable sustainable living in each property by minimising pollution, waste, energy consumption and water usage. 100% green electricity PV panels producing electricity Water sewage treatment plant returning clean water to the watercourse Recycling all waste Old school insulated curtains are double lined for added warmth Godney Arts House feels remote: a tiny hamlet in the wide-open spaces which are the levels; criss-crossed with ditches, humming with birds, packed with history, but you’re only 15 minutes drive from Wells and Glastonbury and an hour from Bath and Bristol. Jane (a designer) and artist partner Simon have created a delightful gallery inside their 18th-century gentleman farmer’s house and much of what you see is for sale, from the art on the walls to some of the up-cycled funky furniture – even if you don’t buy anything you’ll come away filled with ideas for your own space. It’s a clever mix of old (flagstones rescued from Glastonbury Abbey during the dissolution of the monasteries) and new (industrial lighting, rubber floors in the showers) which not many folk would attempt – never mind pull off perfectly. You’ll sleep like logs in bedrooms with no light pollution and no noisy traffic, there are heart-stopping views from most windows, a sweet little garden to potter in and plenty of room at the copper-topped big table for long, chattery meals – or a good pub a few doors down. Best of all, everywhere you look there is something worth looking at.
