Great Ribs
Easy reservations, warm atmosphere, great value, good choice of menu and if you like ribs, go for them every time.
In an industry that so often disappoints I was impressed.

Lovely setting, Service painfully slow 20 minutes before being asked if we wanted a drink, then waited another 10 minutes before our food order was taken, which then arrived 30 minutes after we placed the order. Portion size for Pork and chicken dishes very small for the price. Bill arrived with 12.5% service charge added we had it taken off and paid what we thought for the slow service. Will not return.
Place is great and the service was attentive. However, the fish & chips batter was poor and the fish tastless as were the chips.
Then there is the 12.5% service charge automatically added. I am no fan of this practice! My thoughts are pay your staff a living wage, you charge enough! The cost of the drinks and food should be the headline price and no more. I tip as a true gratuity when I want, and how much I want, depending on various criteria.
I would have been more than happy to add a reasonable tip, but this service charge practice is insidious and negative to get it adjusted. A bad taste left after a good afternoon. It is rapidly becoming common practice since Covid and has caught on in pubs now. As such, I will reconsider going into such places that do this.
Very disappointing.
Booked for a double birthday celebration which was not acknowledged at all.
Restaurant was quiet but the service was very disjointed and the meal itself was mediocre at best.
Had been a favourite place to go but probably won't return.
Waiting staff were fine. Resonable food but the waiting time! Main meal was 25 minutes. Dessert was over half an hour! Waitress asked the manager to adjust the bill to take account of this. He removed the 12.5% tip which was optional anyway and in view of the service we would not have paid. He could also have visited the table to explain the delays. Not nearly as good as it used to be.
We had a very enjoyable evening last night to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. As we were a large group we pre-ordered which made the evening run very smoothly. The staff were very attentive and the food was fantastic. I have eaten there before which is why we chose it. Beautiful setting and somewhere we would come back, even though it is a place for a treat as the price are a little higher than other places. Thank you for making the evening very special for my parents.
Very attractive pub, lovely decor and delightful garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately not a great deal of choice on the menu and the meals were small and overpriced. They should double the amount of food on the plates or halve the price.
Ordered premium burger meal and asked if the chips could be replaced with salad. Though the burger was good the salad consisted of only some leaves of lettuce. When the server was asked if that all there was to the salads it was a firm yes and walked away. At least there was a tomato in the burger. Had I known how poor the salad was going to be I would have stuck with the chips. Be nice if they had sweet potato chips as alternative. Venue was good otherwise even if the server was stand offish, must of been a long day for her.
Called in here on the off chance to book for a family Christmas dinner after a terrible experience elsewhere, they couldn't have been more helpful. Sadly, I don't have the name of the guy I spoke to initially who was absolutely amazing, he showed me the area we would be sitting in, beautiful and cosy, and all subsequent communication was easy.
What a wonderful evening we had, nothing was too much trouble and the lovely Jill was so sweet with our toddler, giving her a special plate and special cutlery amongst other things. The equally lovely Molly was so kind and helpful too as we're all the staff.
The food was delicious, very generous amount of vegetables, nobody had to wait. The choice of a Chilean Merlot complimented our meal perfectly. We never felt rushed or hassled at any time. After our meal we retired to the bar where we continued to enjoy proper real ale.
Our overall experience was so good I would recommend The Gomshall Mill to everybody and we will definitely be going there again.
