What an utter shambles

What an utter shambles. Avoid!!
In a nutshell so many mistakes were made by Gorvins. Our case was then passed to a senior solicitor who said she "wanted to turn things around" and agreed with all the mistakes that Gorvins had made. The senior solicitor took over the case and the first document she posted to us had the same mistakes on it. So...... I told her enough was enough and we would no longer be using Gorvins. She didn't even have the decency to reply or acknowledge my email. Jokers! Would NOT recommend at all.

I used Gorvins to purchase my first property and was impressed by how well they communicated and made the process very easy to understand and manage. Meg was fantastic in supporting us, great communication, patience and excellent customer service. I would recommend and would definitely use them again.

Lisa has been very helpful and…

Lisa Chambers took over my Personal Injury case in the middle of the pandemic. She regularly informed me of any updates through emails and ph calls. I could have not asked for a better solicitor. She is well versed with her field and she's good at what she does. I would recommend her to anyone.

Personal injury.

Recently I had the pleasure of Gorvins Solicitors to represent me in a personal injury claim they were professional and kept me informed about my claim regularly Lisa Chambers was so professional in the way she managed my case if I had to talk with one of her team they were equally professional thank you Lisa. Tumultuous relationship

The relationship with the solicitors at Gorvins has been really tumultuous. Sometimes using a wrong approach towards us, we were often feeling hopeless and frustrated. We were giving some time line which they rarely met. It has been chasing them every day. Our solicitor wasn't a good communicator. Telephone communication sometimes almost impossible, they always used to say "send an email" when we needed an answer straight away. Eventually I had to report to one of the Managers who helped us a little bit to speed up the process. I would not recommend Gorvins at all if you prefer, instead, a better and smoother journey.

Careless and misleading

I’ve been shocked and utterly appalled by the service our buyers have received from Gorvins. Despite multiple reassurances they would make a set completion date, the day before completion we still hadn’t exchanged and we had to pull the plug on the move. There is barely any way to contact the solicitor in question. At the last moment, it turned out some basic checks had failed to take place and now we are in move limbo indefinitely. We feel we and the rest of our chain have been misled. It has cost us untold stress and anxiety and so I have no idea what it has done to their poor clients, our buyers. Please please avoid this company at all costs.

Gorvins were the conveyancers for a…

Gorvins were the conveyancers for a simple sale on my late Mum's property. It was simply awful and stressful. The solicitor involved delayed the sale by 2-3 months, so people in the chain lost the stamp duty holiday (and almost pulled out). The delay would have been longer but for my intervention - I felt I was doing all the work. I was told information had been sent to the purchasers solicitor - it had not. Communication was poor. Gorvins did not act on behalf of their client (me). What should have been a very simple sale of a property turned out to be excessively stressful for no reason other than Gorvins. I would give zero stars if I could.
Update to my review: I have had a reply from Gorvins asking me to delete my review as it was Gorvins Residential who dealt with the sale of my late Mum's property - this is NOT the case. It simply shows further incompetence on the part of Gorvins.

Awful Experience

Gorvins were the sellers' conveyancers for our purchase. Awful experience!! In my opinion they delayed our purchase by at least 3 months and it would have gone on longer if our own conveyancers hadn't carried out investigations Gorvins were supposed to do but simply ignored. We almost walked away from our dream home due to the frustration of the process not moving forward and our conveyancer not being able to get timely responses from Gorvins. I would give zero stars if I could

stressful, frustrating and depressing

Honestly, you just couldn't make it up. They haven't a clue what they are doing. We're in our 6th month of trying to buy a small, new build flat which should be the easiest thing to do. Paperwork always has missing or wrong info, no communication, no customer empathy. the whole company is a mess. It doesn't matter who you speak to, nothing ever gets done. We have been promised exchange for just close to a month now and although we are again promised this will happen tomorrow, I won't hold my breath. What ever you do, don't hire a van or plan any work holiday until you actually have the keys in your hand. Use a local solicitor instead.

Terrible service

We used Gorvins when purchasing our new property and from start to finish their service was appalling.

Firstly, we had to constantly chase our contact here for any information. She failed to respond on multiple occasions and did not keep us updated on the process. We eventually were given someone new to deal with and he was better.

However, some of the documents they sent us over were incorrect. They sent us over old documents, which stated we had both a washing machine and dishwasher in the property. When we arrived, they had both been removed. The estate agents contacted the buyer, who informed us they sent updated documents to their solicitors stating these would not be part of the sale. These were then sent on to Gorvins but NEVER passed on to us. This put us £700 out of pocket, as we had to buy new items.

We have tried to contact Gorvins MULTIPLE times and although they have acknowledged it was their fault, we have received very little response. We were offered a measly £100 to cover the costs.

We are still actively trying to resolve this matter but we are consistently ignored by Gorvins.

Even before the issue arose, their service was poor and this has been the final cherry on the cake. We are shocked and appalled by their services.

Would rate at no stars!

Would rate at no stars!! They have caused nothing but extreme stress, distress and financial lost. I have the misfortune of my buyers using these.. never again would I consider selling to anyone who uses these as their conveyancers. They have numerous case handlers dealing with a sale and purchase and equally all seem completely incompetent. They have delayed the whole process and said they were ready to exchange 3 times so far…and then last minute they said they are not ready, resulting in my mortgage funds having to be returned. They tried blaming a delay at one point saying searches were not back when I found out direct from the council they had them already for over 3 weeks. I missed out on the stamp duty deadline due to the countless errors on their part so they have very kindly relieved my bank balance of £2500…And to top it off I am still waiting to exchange. Someone I know used these and ended up losing 2 properties due to time and errors as they are 10 months into the process. Please spend a bit more and get someone who can do the job and who are not using what comes across as call centre untrained staff! I really don’t see how they are still able to practice after how awful they conduct their business which reading the reviews, my experience doesn’t see to be an isolated experience!

I urge you to avoid this firm

We were buying a property for which the seller used Gorvins. It was a truly awful experience due to the total inability of our solicitor to get any contact or information from Gorvins. I would urge anyone considering using this firm to think again

Unbelievable

Absolutely terrible, to the point I was unsure if the service was a scam. Had Bethanee Tomlinson, never heard from her for the first 3 months. Very simple chain free purchase took 6 months. She didn't respond to the majority of emails, and the responses I got were so full of spelling mistakes it was concerning. Didn't answer a single question I had about the purchase so had to trust things would be OK. My estate agent was incredible and did pretty much all the work. I wrote a complaint to head of conveyancing Lorraine, who responded saying she would pass it on to the right person and I never heard back.
Upon completing I have now found that Bethanee has sent paperwork incorrectly so my name isn't on the lease yet! This is holding up my ability to do anything. When informed of this, she apparently sent it correctly and has got it wrong again but now won't reply. I consider this highly negligent and am now having to speak to the legal ombudsman to get a resolution to my conveyancing that began in January. Please, please avoid, use a local solicitor you can visit.

WARNING do not use this firm for your…

WARNING do not use this firm for your conveyancing.
Read all the negative consecutive comments below and draw your own conclusions.
I had the same abysmal, shameful service, slow, incompetent, no communication.
Selling only, very little achieved in 5 months even sent the wrong property details to buyers solicitors.
When I tried to contact them about this received an insulting letter not to contact or bother them!
Only other communication was to inform me that their offices were shut due to Euro football final!
Complained to director Lorraine Lockie (who also did not have the courtesy to reply) and terminated my services, managed to get a refund.
5 months of wasted conveyancing time nearly lost buyers.
Gorvins level of service and customer care has reached a new low and should not be in business.
REGULATION AUTHORITIES - Take note and look at this firms conduct.

Incompetence verified by the legal ombudsman

We used Gorvins to deal with two simultaneous property transactions in October/November 2018. It has taken us until September 2021 to finalise a complaint against them via the Legal Ombudsman, who found their service was unreasonable on all four counts of our complaint; including (but not limited to) inaccurate legal advice.

Initially the staff turnover was evidently high, with conveyancers changing so often, other solicitors and agents found it difficult to know who to contact. After weeks of this, I liaised with the purchasers solicitor myself.

When Gorvins wouldn’t answer the phone on the date they’d agreed exchange and completion, I had to stand in protest in their office until their head of department intervened to take the file off the conveyancer. The service was abhorrently shocking and stressful from start to finish.

I submitted a complaint, which Gorvins did not respond to at all. However, after moving into one property, we discovered Gorvins had not advised us of a right of way over our land. We asked them to look into the issue in lieu of the complaint we had previously submitted.

A ‘deputy head’ of department, who we’ve since discovered is not legally trained, provided us with a letter to give to our neighbours. Unfortunately, that letter contained incorrect legal advice, refuting their right of way that was actually prescribed by deed. Apart from falling out with all our new neighbours over the issues, we’ve also incurred around £4K in expenses to include paying an adequate solicitor to defend the mess Gorvins left us in, and reposition a pedestrian gate we had installed.

To add insult to injury, Gorvins senior partners only ever responded to us at the mention of a claim in professional negligence. They ignored correspondence, and even failed to comply with the Ombudsman arising in their referral to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Stay away from this company at all costs. I genuinely hope this one review prevents another vendor/purchaser from going through the difficulties we’ve experienced in the last two years at the hands of these cowboys.

Avoid like the plague!!

I dont even know where to start. If i could give a minus rating, i would!!
This company was recommened by our mortgage advisor. He served us well with a previous purchase, so we thought this time around would be the same.
How wrong could we be!!
The sleepless nights, stress and upset this company have caused ourselves and the 1 other party involved in the sale/purchase of our house is despicable.
Our conveyencer had no interest in his job. The 3-5 times within the 6 months this process has taken that we did manage to speak to him he sounded like he had just got out of bed. He had no interest in his clients atall.
We put all of our trust in this company and was let down massively. They make a mockery of the profession.
The icing on the cake, it has taken 5 days post completion to get our equity transfered to us, and we have recieved less than stated on our completion statement!!! So we are still stuck with this company until this is sorted.

Please, we beg. Do not use this company.
It has been the worst 6 months of our lives.

Incredibly Slow, really poor communication, AVOID!!!!

Our buyers are using these solicitors & they are HORRENDOUS!!! All the other solicitors and agents in our chain have acted professionally, promptly and with top class customer service, but these guys (who act on behalf of our buyers) have delayed the whole completion by almost a month now. They use a cowboy search agents who we know received search results from the council 3 weeks before they bothered to pass them onto Gorvins, but Gorvins REFUSED to chase them, despite us providing evidence from the council that their search agents had them! They are now delaying yet again performing another search that should have taken 2 days and it is now a week later with still no word. Horrific company, with horrific suppliers - AVOID!!!!! They are potentially jeopardising the whole chain sale as a few of us will have to cancel the sales if we do not complete before the next stamp duty incentive expires (due to the significant increased expense around £4k in our case), which is looking likely the rate Gorvins are delaying matters.
