disappointing throughout

Went here to celebrate my partners birthday, ended up in a room without any ventilation or air conditioning and the room was unbearably hot, a fan provided is NOT a suitable fix when there is no outside air to draw in from the leading to the worst night of sleep we have ever had. The adjoining door only leads to a further enclosed area which can be accessed by anyone, choosing to open this only sacrifices your security in the room, not that opening actually helps. When raised to the front desk, i was told this was my own fault for booking last minute.

I was given the card of management to email, gave a clear description of the experience but they made no attempt to understand the problem, was met with excuses and made no real attempt to rectify their lack of hospitality. After one email reply they stopped replying to any communication.

The breakfast was also very sub par and disorganised. Nothing in the stay truly reflected the price.

Avoid at all costs

Disappointing stay, definitely not worth the deal that was advertised on Secret Escapes.
Hotel was shabby with broken and dirty furniture throughout.
The room was incredibly small, advertised as front facing...but not much of a view.
The bathroom was the size of a broom closet, the toilet holder was broken, the shower was not adjustable so no option to have a shower without getting hair wet. The water would run cold for at least a minute or two, and water pressure was incredibly poor...water would sometimes just completely cut out. There were screws coming out of the base of the bath and the flooring was poor quality. When we entered the bathroom the spotlights weren't working so had to ask at reception to have these replaced which was done promptly, but this should have been resolved prior to us being allocated the room.
Bed covers were dirty and stained and the room was shabby, looked like it needed a good dusting and clean. The room smelled like someone had been smoking in it and this smell was embedded into the upholstery. The windows would regularly steam up, no air con option, and the heaters in the room did not work. The spoon and cups in the room were dirty and looked like they hadn't been washed properly.
The kettle in the room was so small you could just about heat up two cups of water. There was no safety on the kettle so it would not stop boiling when the water was boiled...I found this out the hard way when I burnt my hand on the handle.
Stayed for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned, neither were the towels replenished or toiletries replenished. When I went to ask at reception for more shower gel I was told that they were running low on supplies so had none available.
I had booked this hotel so I could use the spa and get a treatment, only to be told the massage therapist had walked out so there were no massages available as advertised.
Only saving grace for this hotel was the quality of the food. Dinner was served well, although portions were a little on the small side. Breakfast options were really good but food would consistently run out and you would be waiting 5 - 10 minutes for the buffet to be replenished.
Incredibly poor hotel, would not book this again. Avoid at all costs.
Equally disappointed that this is being advertised on Secret Escapes as a good offer...it is not.

Having purchased a Red Letter Day…

Having purchased a Red Letter Day afternoon tea voucher, I phoned early August to book. I was told they weren’t taking any more bookings till after 5th September and I had to call back after that date.
Today, 21st September, I called again. Asked about booking. Was told the only dates they could offer were Saturday, 23rd September or Saturday, 28th October. I asked about weekday bookings. He repeated “those are the days that are available Madam”. I opted for the October date. I asked what times were available answer was “ I was just about to ask you what time you would like Madam” I said 2/ 2.30pm. Answer was “So which time would you like Madam”. I chose 2.30 but said I thought he was being a bit high-handed with me. He wanted me to explain that. I said I thought he was being very supercilious and not at all friendly or helpful. He asked if I wanted to cancel the booking I said no. I asked his name and with hesitation he answered “Paul”. I asked if he was the manager. He refused to answer. I said that was a perfectly normal question and would he tell me his position in the company. He then said “ I am cancelling your booking”. I asked him to repeat this which he did and that was that!!

I recently had the pleasure of…

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at The Grange Hotel and I have to say, it was an absolutely stunning location for a wedding. The hotel is situated on the southern edge of the Lake District in the picturesque coastal town of Grange-over-Sands, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the bay.
The wedding ceremony and reception took place against this spectacular backdrop, with the views serving as a stunning natural decoration. The wedding coordinator at The Grange Hotel was dedicated and professional, ensuring every detail of the wedding ran smoothly. They worked closely with an extensive list of specialised suppliers to create a handcrafted wedding celebration that epitomized style and exclusivity.
The hotel itself is a luxurious four-star establishment, exuding class and sophistication. The rustic yet modern decor gave the hotel a unique boutique feel, and all of the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, making the wedding guests feel at ease throughout their stay.
As a wedding photographer, I found the stunning views and natural light in the hotel to be the perfect setting for capturing beautiful wedding photographs. The hotel's location is perfect for couples looking for a romantic retreat and unforgettable wedding memories.
In summary, I would highly recommend The Grange Hotel for anyone planning a wedding or romantic getaway in the Lake District. With its world-class views, luxurious accommodation, and professional staff, it truly is the perfect place for an exclusive and stylish celebration.
Kindest regards
The Kensington Photographer

Poor experience all round. Definitely wouldn’t return.

Poor customer service, poor facilities, poor sleep, uncomfortable bed, no room service or restaurant open during stay due to a wedding function. Only informed no catering upon arrival early evening with no other way of getting food delivered or from local convenience shops.

Room above smoking section and next to function suite. Music and party finished after midnight. Surely you should have put party guests next to the function suite?

Decor is old and dated. Staff inability to deal with straightforward complaint about pretty standard requirements in a hotel show that leadership team is dramatically poor and the management of the hotel isn’t fit for purpose.

Extremely poor stay and I stay at hotels frequently for work. 4 star hotel should really be a 1 or 2 star at most.
