This was a very interesting holiday. The trips were well organised and varied. The Tour Manager, the Cruise Director and Cruise Manager were all very helpful and friendly.

Very enjoyable. Excellent GRJ staff and the ship was very comfortable with good staff
Wonderful cruise, lots of interesting places to visit, friendly crew and tour manager.
The ship was excellent and the crew extremely helpful and polite. The drawbacks were : Very early starts for a holiday experience. Extremely noisy at night in the cabin, with rattling doors, air conditioning unit and general noise; sleep was impossible most nights. Co-ordination not good on occasions. Although we had the early Amadeus tour in Avignon, we had to wait 40 minutes or so for the next Amadeus tour to arrive until we needed to join the group for the Palace tour. The Lavender Fields tour was non-existent - a waste of time as all available were the shops and no tour. Joanne didn't give the service expected and many of us were wandering around trying to find the Eurostar coach at Lille for the return journey. Debbie and Lucy were excellent hosts and couldn't be faulted. The Ardeche gorges were magnificent and the tour there was a highlight. The Guides for the various tours were informative, but everyone mentioned too much information was given and endless talks throughout the journeys and walks. The exception to this was the girl who was the Guide in Avignon, an excellent, charming and amusing girl, who gave just the right amount of information. I went on your Danube cruise last year at the end of August and found this to be better organised, without the early morning tours and the co-ordination of same far superior.to the Rhone holiday.
Thoroughly enjoyed. As a whole the experience was wonderful but I would suggest some changes. The lavender farm is a waste of time if the flowers are not in bloom and it was a rushed visit. The Camargue was a huge disappointment- probably better viewed early in the morning. Food on ship was very good, staff lovely, great organization
We had an amazing holiday/cruise with GRJ. The standard aboard the ship was exceptional and the quality of the visits throughout the week was excellent. I highly recommend this trip.
The cabin, food and boat were very good. The Rhone valley was beautiful as were the towns we visited. The experience was spoilt by the cruise leader who treated the passengers as though she was running a care home for dementia sufferers
Comfortable cabin with walk-in wardrobe; excellent food; friendly, efficient staff and a good range of excursions by train, coach, petit train and on foot. I star deducted because of long delay to board the ship initially at Lyon after a very long, hot day of travelling starting at 4 am. We were all tired, disappointed and tempers were frayed. Little explanation or apology was given: not the best start.
5 stars ...
It was a fantastic holiday with lots of fantastic excursions and beautiful views. We would love to have had a choice to stay longer in some of the places and not have to rush back to the ship for lunch every day especially the Ardeche.
Wonderful holiday. River cruise was excellent. Visit to Pont du Gard and Roman Arles were amazing. Beautiful ship was the Amadeus Provence. Trains to and from the ship on time and very well organised, much better than flying
First class holiday! Faultless planning and organisation by the GRJ team. Superb care and attention by the on-board cruise team (Lucy and Debbie). Michelin quality food and drink on the Amadeus (and lots of it). Outstanding customer service by the Amadeus ship crew. Knowledgeable and engaging tour guides on every excursion. Friendly atmosphere, meeting some lovely people, especially Cheryl, Rob, Moyra and John. Thank you everyone for making our holiday fabulous. This was our first river cruise and the experience has got us talking about our next one (with GRJ of course).
Very good experience.
Well organised interesting programme
Wonderful holiday
This trip was all it promised to be and more! As well as a well planned and relaxing holiday, we got to know a number of lovely passengers and were in awe of the friendly, patient and efficient staff. I am hoping to book my fifth trip with GRJ soon.
Overall a very enjoyable cruise. Bill Sanderson, who escorted us to and from the ship, was very efficient. Cabin was well-appointed and clean, though an occasional smell of drains from the shower. Food was mostly excellent with the odd shortage, eg orange juice at breakfast. Trips were very enjoyable with well- informed guides, though mostly early morning starts! It was a pity that the top deck was closed much of the time, especially as the weather was so hot, and we were not able to make use of it as much as on previous cruises.
Good tour itinerary, excellent food and comfortable cabin with attentive cheerful crew and waiters.
Fabulous holiday - well organised, great trips The Amadeus Provence was a comfortable boat offering great food and more importantly fabulous crew. Would recommend very highly
Did not meet expectations. Cruise was poor when on board boat. Food was only OK and at times poor. Wine was average. Ran out of draft beer. Staff partied till 2.30 in the morning and kept half the ship awake. Trip to Beaune did not include the most important building in the town. Wine tasting in a shop can be done in the UK. Noisy air conditioning. No travel options given although they were available. Travel host on rail did not speak French !!
