Greenfrog Scientific - weather station
I bought a 'complete' wireless weather station and feel it needs a review after it finally died last year. The unit, pushed still by Greenfrog was an Aercus WS3093. This weather station is still advertised on the UK web site along with spares, but the unit is discontinued and no spares are available. This is important to know as I have found while it worked OK after just two years it needed a new transmitter and UV / sulight sensors had also failed. In the end I bought one from eBay at £50. The unit is not cheap initially costing £145 so not cheap over five years. Dont expect spares back up! I do not know if 5 years is an acceptable life span for this type of out door equipment but personally feel short changed slightly.
The unit when working did a good job of all the functions and transmitted about 18m to my base station in the house without trouble. I had great fun with it while it worked. I find the Green frog out of date web site with inaccurate information displayed shoddy and will probably not deal with them again without further detailed research.
