NOT USER FRIENDLY
The money in the child's wallet always kicks back to the parent wallet and I am constantly transferring the money back.
I wish there was an apple watch…
I wish there was an apple watch component to this. My son doesn't have a phone yet, but he does have an apple watch. I wish he could get notifications/reminders on his watch.

Love the greenlight card it is teaching my child how to manage and save money and spending expenses
Easy to set up; exciting possibilities
I found the application very easy to set up and it's an effective way to teach my kids about finances at a younger age. The phone app is easy to use, but I'm on a computer all day and wish I could use my browser to administer the accounts, rather than only my phone.
Card gets locked without warning
Card gets locked without warning. App is slow or doesn’t work
Worst card to get for the kids with…
Worst card to get for the kids with everything out there you might as just go to your bank and add a card, My daughters card got hacked twice and being in America the transactions are being made in the UK or DE - and it’s from quick turnarounds like temu or SHEIN - I’m not happy about the security measures for these cards it’s not good for the kids to even learn from when they are having their money stolen right under their Noses if they aren’t paying attention. There’s a breach in security and it needs to be taken care of immediately or shut down the program. Should be an embarrassment and a shame to take peoples money. Go with God.
Throw the app away

It's a wonderful app to teach your children and your grandchildren about the life of saving and investing and it has a nice layout on giving your children are grandchildren money when they do little things around the house and you can send them money anytime you want to and it has a wonderful way of keeping up with your children it tells you we're there going and that's really nice for their safety it's a most have .
Do yourselves a favor and hire customer…
Do yourselves a favor and hire customer service people who speak English. Or some other commonly used language of the universe. I speak five languages and couldn’t understand one word the person was saying. What should have taken two minutes took over an hour. Very frustrating. I have now cancelled my card
Great until the card got hacked
Great until the card got hacked, then absolutely no customer service even though I reached out. Waited 2 weeks for something to be done, nothing was done, no communication at all, so closed account after deleting payment resources just so nothing else would be stolen. Don't know if I'll get any of my money back that was stolen. No communication from greenlight. Just automated responses.
Unauthorized multiple withdrawals and poor trustworthiness
I had a deeply disappointing experience with the Greenlight card. They withdrew money from my checking account without my approval, which is completely unacceptable. I never authorized the transaction, and yet the funds were taken without any prior notice or consent. This breach of trust has left me frustrated and concerned about their practices.
I reached out for support, but the response was inadequate and did not resolve the issue. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Greenlight to anyone. Trust is essential when dealing with financial services, and unfortunately, Greenlight failed to uphold that. Proceed with caution if you're considering using their services
My mother died in 2024 and my sons…
My mother died in 2024 and my sons greenlight account was under her name. I tried to cancel many times because they would not give us access to my sons greenlight savings without giving them a copy of her death certificate so the kept withdrawing from my bank account. The total of the savings was up to 75 dollars and they continued pulling from my account from November last year until this last August totaling just over $300.00. They refused a refund that amount and only offered my son $40.70 instead of the full amount. This company is a thieving lying group and I strongly suggest you pay attention to the amounts they pull from your bank account. There were months where they would hit my account 4 times in a single month.
kid stranded 700 miles away because of this service
Yeah, be aware of a couple of things before you rely on this company:
Their customer service call center is, across the board, absolutely unintelligible due to poor audio. No, it's not me, it's them. I can hear everyone else just fine. You will not be able to make out what anyone is saying if you have to call them.
They flagged my daughter's card for "fraudulent charges" and shut it off. The fraudulent charges? A bad scanner in the NY subway, which she explained when we called her about the multiple 2.90 charges all at once. These charges did not show up on my ap, nor did they show up in my daughter's ap. We found out when she discovered the card was locked. No warning, no notice. I called and got it straightened out. Or so I thought.
Overnight, they shut down the entire account, leaving my 18 year old daughter stranded 700 miles away from me in a NY subway with no money and no warning before dawn this morning, with no explanation of why they'd done it, no warning that they'd done it at all, no nothing. She found out when she found herself stranded.
I spent the day setting up something with my credit union, who was actually very interested in helping get an emergency solution in place, something Greenlight was WILDLY uninterested in doing.
So if you opt to use this, make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you have a working Plan B for when this happens to your family.
This system worked great for us for many years, but endangering my daughter like this is an absolute deal breaker. Beware.
Also, I did look up to see if this sort of thing happened to others, and there are a lot of complaints with the BBB. So do your due diligence and don't find out the hard way when your child get endangered.
Debit card never works
Debit card never works. Will charge you 5.99 a month for something you can’t use. Not worth it for a service you can get for free using one for your banking services. Total waste of money. Had to call and talk to someone in India anytime daughter tried to use card.
Very expensive and continued to charge…
Very expensive and continued to charge a monthly fee for 10 months after cancellation. Customer service is some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. Why waste your time and money with a place like this when you can create a free checking/ savings account for kids for free at your local credit unions.
What an easy way to help myteen
Lost card replacement
Child lost card. Paid to have it replaced. App says delivered after 8 days. Now 14 days and card has not been delivered to my monitored, work address. Now replacing the card but again another 7-10 working days unless I pay for expedited shipping. I recommend finding another card with better customer service.
Incompetent & Rude
We set up an account for our daughter, and they had no trouble taking the initial money, but by the time we got the card a hold was placed on our account claiming it was a business account when it was our personal checking account. They refused to talk to me even though my wife set me up as an authorized user.
They asked my wife for a bank statement, which we sent, but they then claimed it still didn't have the necessary info and insisted we needed to send a non-existent different statement. My wife was hung up on twice after receiving warnings for being upset. We ended up cancelling the account altogether, but they get to keep our first subscription payment, which seems to be what they really wanted.
