We have just returned from a week at Grobdale hosted by the Hunter family
Myself my wife and our dog were made to feel very welcome at our top class property the Croft.
This property is presented to high standard with a stunning bathroom bedroom with a super king size bed kitchen with all the fittings including dishwasher and views of the Scottish countryside that are breathtaking.
The local area includes great walk coffee shops serving excellent service and food and restaurants and pubs within a 20 min drive.
Great place to unwind with a fire pit at night and a few beers as you look across the beautiful valley
Gorgeous Grobdale it's the business!
We've been really lucky to have stayed at Grobdale several times and it really is 5*. As you hit the drive, all your tensions, worries and anxieties seem to disappear and you feel like you've arrived in paradise!
Sarah, Andy and Lauren are the most charming and brilliant hosts and can't do enough for you. The accommodation is total luxury, the views from every window, stunning. It's a proper classy place, yet totally relaxing. Lots of lovely, thoughtful touches, each time I've visited we've enjoyed a different welcome pack.
The farm is wonderful for young and old, eggs to collect, pigs backs to scratch and I'm sure Sarah would allow you to shovel a bucket of manure, should you wish!
We're all nature nerds and the wildlife in and around the farm and local area is off the scale. Red kites, cuckoos (our first ever!), crossbills, deer, hare, the odd eagle (if you're lucky), red squirrel, owls and more. You just end up pointing stuff out for fun!
Loads of stuff to do, loads of places to visit, in fact you're a bit spoilt for choice.
Our fav haunts:
Love, love, love Threave Gardens and Osprey platform
Chips from Moore's at Castle Douglas are hard to beat, mind you chips from Polarbites at Kirkcudbright, eaten on the harbour looking out for the resident otter is top notch.
We've done Laggan outdoor centre.
Ate at many of the cafes and restaurants locally in what can only be described as food heaven, Gatehouse of Fleet.
And we're constantly up and down the A75 visiting the different coasts & bays, nature reserves and other fab & free places.
Grobdale and Dumfries is one of our fav places in the world and holds special memories for us a family.
Standing at the farm gate, staring at the Loch, with a brew in my hand, aint no place I'd rather be!
Absolutely wonderful holiday! Beautiful cottage (we stayed in The Dairy), lovely countryside, loads of fab places to visit and Andy and Sarah were just the best hosts. Favourite trip was the kite feeding station, a must for anyone interested in wildlife. Will definitely be back. Thanks
