Misleading rental model: you end up paying far more than the real price

I rented a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 128GB WiFi from Grover for €22.90 per month, under the impression that after one year I could pay the remaining amount and keep the device. After already paying €480.90, Grover informed me that I must pay an additional €229 to keep the tablet.

I checked the actual retail price of this device in Germany, and it ranges between €370–€500 brand new. This means that with Grover I would end up paying around €710, which is significantly more than buying the device outright.

There is absolutely no financial benefit in this “rent-to-own” model. It results in a major overpayment, and I believe future customers should be warned. I strongly recommend checking real market prices before entering any rental agreement with Grover.

Update:they just answer and this make me more angry because they don't explain the detail that you need to pay the double of price for any item at the end, so this is a losing game I'm going to send back to them everything this is insane!

With Grover, the monthly payments primarily cover the use of the device and services like Grover Care. Each payment you make reduces the future purchase price if you decide to buy the device. The starting purchase price is based on the device’s market value plus included services, and every rental payment in real money lowers this amount. Please note that payments made with vouchers or discounts reduce your rent but do not lower the final purchase price.

You can choose to buy your device at any time during your rental period, or continue renting until the purchase price drops to €1, at which point you can buy it for a symbolic euro. Best tech Company 👍🤟🏻

I’m a older client from this company, but I can to told honestly this company is one of the best companies of tech which I know. All the time when I rent the tech everything was perfect and how we agreed between each other. I still keep to rent the tech and I will use this company for long time. Definitely I recommend and I will recommend this guys all the time. Best luck for the company and more and more upgrades with the new tech I wish.

Using this service for more than 2…

Using this service for more than 2 years already and i love it. I have a laptop, monitor, headphones and a tablet rented right now. Everything is simple and easy(except UPS being bad sometimes).

Returning, refunding also works perfectly.
Incredible discounts, especially on black friday.

Zero update from customer support

My request was rejected without any specific reason. I have a perfect credit score and history. I contacted customer support to understand what happened but nobody came back to for over a week now. Not very nice.
