Really simple to use and gives a good indication of what’s possible - maybe sooner than some would expect. Lots of variables can throw things off course but that’s life. For anyone that hasn’t looke... See more

We only have one aim, to give savers direct access to, or allow trustees, employers and providers to provide tools their pension savers need, to improve their retirement outcomes. Put simply, there are plenty of tools which tell pension savers if they take A each year, earn B returns, their pots will last for C years. For almost everyone these offer no practical help, as nearly everyone has other income or savings to put towards retirement. Included in these are State Pensions, Final Salary pensions, ISA savings and part time work for example. Some of these are taxable, some are not. Our tool is the only fully holistic planning tool that can be used directly by individuals without expert input. Our tool answers the one question pension savers actually want answered, "How do I use everything I have, to get the after tax income I want in retirement?". You can visit the Guiide website for much more detail and to try it for yourself.

Easy to complete. Much more informative than general pension estimates and the adjustments for different scenarios are extremely useful. Reassuring or a reality check, either way it’s good to know where you stand.

Great tool as an MVP, just the type of thing I've been looking for to replace my less than simple spreadsheet :) Really feature rich and can't stop playing with this. shame this isn't open source as I'd want to contribute as a developer.
I have loads of ideas that would enhance the experience:
- Allowing you to add tags or names to the different elements e.g. defined benefit and personal pensions - so being able to say which pension is which will help with visual tracking.
- Clearer totals of current and projected pots at retirement age, in the Haves section and on the Dashboard.
- Show the annual retirement payment also in real terms across the tool not just in the wants section e.g along side the calculated values at the end and on the dashboard. This gives folks a realistic figure of what they will be able to afford at the time.
- Set multiple Pensions with individual growth rates, as one fund may have a different risk factor to another so the ability to vary this at a granular level --as an advanced option.
- Expand annuity granularity e.g. for health and postcode - advanced option
- Allow granularity on the projected pension contributions e.g.
percentage increase can be varied from the 2.5 percent. may want to contribute more than the base per year.
- More granular contributions in future years - fixed per month or year in each of the years leading up to the retirement date. Can be an advanced option
- One off pension contributions expected on a certain year before retirement e.g. windfalls, to be added to pensions (up to max limit by HMRC) or Savings - again as an advanced option
- More scenarios, though i can't think of any - perhaps more granular control of them (as an advanced option?) - though the ones mentioned are a great start!
All in all really good to see the graphs, the scenarios and actually work out what we can do to get to a target.

Great tool to help understand retirement income.
Will be even more useful when the version for couples is developed.
If I could change one thing it would be to be able to adjust inflation. 2.5% seems very optimistic appreciating it is the average advisors use. The lower your income the higher your level of inflation. I believe mine is more like 4.5% and it is unlikely to improve given food and utility prices.

Great tool if your situation is straightforward. But Guided Drawdown and Couples planning has been promised for over a year now. How about an update and honestly on where you are on this ( … I’m sure there are many complications trying to achieve this)? The blog pages seem to be getting a bit stale.
GREAT TOOL FOR CHECKING YOUR CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION.

This is an excellent tool to model different retirement options.
I have used financial advisors who have worked with similar tools, but to be able to model my own scenarios at home, gives me the confidence that what the advisor is telling me is correct. I had got similar results using my own spreadsheets, but Guide confirmed I hadn't missed anything major. Something this useful that is free to use is rare and very welcome.

It was recommended to me...now I recommended it to others!

Great tool and very easy to use. Helps to give you confidence that you are on the right track for retirement, or an idea of how much more you need to start saving if you’re not quite there yet.
I’ve had to set up two separate accounts for me and the other half though, so looking forward to the launch of the couples functionality.

its good as a rough guide but felt its lacking quite a bit of diversity options for wealth planning to do with rental houses and sales of these in the future as need to take this into account, also wouldn't allow me to retire before 55 so I had to do additional figures myself and realised I would still be dying with to much in the bank so retiring early and going to do it now
in reply to Kevin below, the sales value and other income dont do a till date then account for the sale of the house from so not as straight forward as he says otherwise I would of been able to to use the form, as I did put the figure in others, butbi intend to sell my properties in 10 years 15 year and 20 years giving me different figures thanks

Excellent guide to help planning retirement.

It's a very effective and simple way to assess your pensions, however it doesn't give the option to input figures as a couple, you can lump all the couple's assets into one prediction but that won't take tax breaks into account

Seems instinctive and easy to use but have not road tested over a period of time.
