Old Gwernyfed is our 16th century home which includes 200 acres of woodland. Gwernyfed Wood is sourced solely from this woodland, we harvest the wood under our sustainable woodland management scheme, transport it to our yard only 1 mile away, where it is processed into a variety of different firewood products and then kiln dried in our own biomass kiln to a moisture content of under 20%. Kiln dried wood burns cleaner and hotter, and for longer, so with Gwernyfed Wood you can be assured of the highest quality product.

Great wood wool fire starter that work

easy web site , fast delivery next day , pay with Paypal. Local UK produced goods so no ship or air miles which has to be good for the UK and Welsh economy.
As a wood wool fire starter these are just the best I have used so far.

misleading product description



I ordered a 25-litre box of beech wood, but when it arrived, the box was only about a quarter to half full, with the rest completely empty. This means I received significantly less wood than advertised.

On the website, the company states that oak wood boxes weigh between 7–9 kg, but there is no such information for beech wood. This is misleading, because the product is sold by volume (litres), not by weight (kilograms). Mathematically speaking, a 25-litre box should be full, regardless of the wood type.

I also tried to contact the company for clarification, but the email address provided returns an error, so there is no way to reach customer service.

This practice feels unethical and possibly non-compliant with consumer protection standards, as the product does not match the description.
I strongly suggest the company reviews its packaging and product transparency, so future customers actually receive the full 25 litres of wood they are paying for — not a half-empty box.

Lovely - not all broken up

Lovely - they arrived undamaged and look good, most intact - I am afraid its not cold enough yet to try them out but I will try to edit this later after using them. We start using the fire a bit in November to delay the turning on of the full central heating.

Supporting local, small family business

Easy to order from the website, there is no extra added at the end for delivery. My order always arrives quickly. The eco firelighters are excellent for starting my log burner usually only needing one each time so the box lasts maybe all winter.
I like my money going to and supporting a (fairly) local family business.

Go-to place for cold smoking supplies

Fantastic selection of wood dust for cold smoking - go for the selection pack, you essentially get 6 bags for the price of three and all flavourrs are delicious. Dry as a bone and very quickly delivered - nice to know I'm buying Welsh as well.
