Unforgettable journey through Bosnia with Halal Travel Guide!

I just completed the October 2025 Sisterhood in Bosnia trip with Halal Travel Guide. When I booked this trip, I was looking forward to discovering beautiful Bosnia and its timeless charm, but I left with so much more: a deep admiration for the resilience and unwavering faith of its people, priceless memories, and amazing new friendships and sisterhoods along the way.

A big thank you to Brother Nedim, our travel lead and Bosnia’s “unofficial ambassador” to us. He is such a kind and funny soul who kept us entertained while sharing his deep knowledge and love for the country.
Sister Melissa, our wonderful coordinator, ensured everything ran smoothly and kept us organized and on track with such warmth and professionalism, while also sharing touching stories of her family and the lasting impact of the Srebrenica genocide. These moments made our journey even more personal and moving.

Appreciation also goes to Brother Almir, who shared his wisdom during our visit to the Tunnel of Hope and Old Town, beautifully connecting Bosnia’s history with its rich Islamic heritage. Sister Mirna gave us an insightful tour of Mostar and its layered history, while Brother Dino went above and beyond to help with transportation and share his local knowledge.

A heartfelt mention to our gracious local hosts, Auntie Anya and Uncle Munib, who not only opened the doors of their home to share their culture and delicious food with us, but also their arms and hearts. Their hospitality was truly unforgettable!

In response to a comment wondering about possible encounters like bears or boars, the only “wild beasts” we saw were the adorable kittens roaming through the parks and cobbled streets. ;) 🐾

HTG provided us with a wonderful introduction to Bosnia. We learned a great deal about the history, visited beautiful places, and experienced the warmth and resilience of the people. Traveling without worrying about halal food or exposure to inappropriate experiences was a treat. Nedim and Melissa went out of their way to attend to special needs and to take good care of us. I would definitely travel with HTG in the future if I have the opportunity, and I highly recommend them.

The Bosnia tour was absolutely amazing. From the moment I landed and was met by Nedim and some of the group members, I felt completely at home.
The tour was very well planned and the accommodations were very comfortable. I did prefer the hotel in Mostar because it was simpler and felt more like a home.

The Halal Travel Guide team went above and beyond in every way. I felt completely safe and cared for throughout the trip. Brother Nedim and Sister Melissa weren’t just guides: they shared their hearts, their history, and deeply personal stories about the war that gave so much meaning to every place we visited.

Their passion for their country and people showed in everything they did. And the food - was delicious and lots of variety.

This was more than sightseeing; it was an experience rooted in faith, culture, and humanity. I can’t recommend Halal Travel Guide enough.

This is our second trip through HTG. Our recent trip was to Bosnia. The trip was organised very well. We were informed our daily schedule prior to the trip and we were sent reminders everyday. Our tour guide Nedim was amazing. He went above and beyond in order to make our trip enjoyable and memorable. Transport was clean and comfortable. We took regular breaks on long drives. He kept us entertained all rhe time. We would definitely recommend this company if you are wishing to experience a well organised and memorable trip.

Eating Halal was easy. Opportunity to pray salaat in Mostar/ Lukomir & Sarajevo
I would recommend not to do Srebrenica the day after visiting Lukomir. Instead do Sarajevo whole day, then do Srebrenica on 5th day, return back to Sarajevo same day, then on 6th day return to Mostar for those flying out of Dubrovnik Airport (Čilipi airport) - this is less tiredness & gives more time to sightsee Sarajevo

I signed up to join the Bosnia trip but was unable to due to visa issues. The HTG staff was very accommodating and provided a fair resolution. I plan on joining them on future trips inshaAllah.

I travelled with four other ladies on the Wild Bosnia trip which took place from 16th - 21st September 2025. Despite enjoying most of what the trip had to offer, a major incident occurred which comprised my safety whilst undertaking a hike. Despite being told by HTG prior to booking
this trip, that it was suitable for individuals who had not partaken in hiking before, essentially it was suitable for beginners etc. I was left behind alone, whilst the group partaked in a small hike prior to wild camping. I was left alone in the woods for over two hours. I decided to take a walk, but I was extremely anxious being on my own, coupled with the fear of something bad happening to me etc. Imagine if I had tripped or hurt myself, how would anyone locate me as there was no phone connection? I didn't even have water with me as I forgot to take it with me, because I was so overwhelmed with sheer emotion of what had just happened. Bosnia is also known for its wild large animals, such as bears, wild boar, wolves, and various deers. My safety was severely compromised.

Leaving a team member alone for over two hours - if this had occurred in England, there would have been damaging consequences for the company. Despite feeding this back to HTG team, they immediately dismissed the unprofessionalism and lack of care that had taken place, and instead have put the blame on me by not disclosing I had fear of heights or ocd as a medical condition etc. I would like to make it clear that these aren't medical conditions, and this also includes phobias. Instead of taking responsibility and accountability of what had happened which was against ethical practices to what they promote from an Islamic perspective, I was made aware that I would not be able to book again in the future. There is no love lost and there are many other reputable companies out there, but what is extremely dissapointing is for an apparent professional company like HTG to NOT acknowledge that they had not followed the health and safety regulations and this could lead to a legal implication if escalated further. It was also fed back to the host in Konjic whose accommodation we were based for most of the vacation, and even she agreed that this was truly unprofessional. I got told by HTG, that I had not disclosed such fears on "medical forms", however despite disclosing my dietary requirements, none of these were communicated to the host. There was another lady who was travelling within this group who specifically had made it clear that she can only eat gluten free, again this was not communicated to the host. Two other ladies had not even received medical forms.

To anyone wanting to book with HTG, please don't be fooled by glossy brouchers and do your research before investing your money.

Also, it was made apparant that this trip had originally had the scope to sign 20 people, but only five actually joined, misleading the host to believe that a larger group would be joining, causing her a loss. Five ladies including myself had joined the trip. Three of us vowed that we would not be travelling with them again in the future. In addition to the above issue, there were communication issues. Also we were told that we would have HTG accompanying us on this trip, but this was not the case. Another lady, who had travelled with HTG prior to Spain, also confirmed that she was also misled by the team, that HTG team would be travelling with them, which did not happen.

Simply, if you don't want your safety to be at a risk, or want to experience a professional service, then please refrain from booking with Halal Travel Group.

Asalaam aleikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatahu, Just returned from a trip to Kazakhstan. Would thoroughly recommend it! We went as a family & had such a wonderful time, full of adventures such as hiking, water peddling across a beautiful lake & climbing sand dunes (not as easy as it sounds!).
The views, sunsets & sunrises were awesome as was the company of our fellow travellers all of whom were lovely!
Loved learning the history of Kazakhstan & stopping off at mosques to pray.
My highlight was getting to meet Soumaya & Sami Hamdi & their wonderful children. Such an inspirational couple mashAllah! Their team of Gia, Gulmira & Rashida were also so helpful & thoughtful, always ensuring we were comfortable & well cared for.
Would definitely recommend this company & am already looking forward to travelling with them again!

I had the most amazing experience traveling to Kazakhstan this summer with HTG alongside a friend, and I can confidently say it was a trip of a lifetime. From the very beginning, everything exceeded my expectations. We were able to do so many adventurous activities—exploring the breathtaking mountains, stunning canyons, serene lakes, and the beautiful natural landscapes of Almaty. Each place we visited left me in awe.

Beyond the landscapes, what made this journey truly unforgettable was experiencing the rich culture of Kazakhstan. Learning about the country’s deep history and its strong Muslim heritage gave me a new perspective and appreciation for its traditions. Every city we visited felt alive with culture, hospitality, and warmth.

The accommodations were also excellent—the hotels and guesthouses we stayed at were comfortable, welcoming, and provided a wonderful balance of rest after our explorations.
Another highlight was the people. Not only did I make amazing new friends on this trip—whom I know I’ll stay in touch with—but we also had incredible support from the HTG team. Gia and Soumaya were always there to help us with anything we needed, and our guide, Gulmira, was generous, patient, and full of knowledge. She made sure we were comfortable at all times and answered all our questions, truly becoming a friend along the way.

Traveling with HTG has opened my mind to joining many more trips with them in the future. It completely erased any fears I had about group travel and instead filled me with gratitude and joy.

I would wholeheartedly recommend HTG to anyone looking to experience not only the adventure of a lifetime but also the warmth of true cultural exchange and lasting friendships.

Traveling with HTG (Ḥalāl Travel Guide) throughout Bosnia was an absolute delight from start to finish. As a premier travel guide group, HTG sets the bar high—and then exceeds it.

The quality of the guides was exceptional. Each one was not only a deep well of historical and cultural knowledge but also incredibly personable and engaging. They made our group laugh, think, and feel with the rich Bosnian history. Whether we were exploring centuries-old sites or strolling through the streets of Sarajevo, our guides brought the tragic-turned-hope history experience to life and made every moment enjoyable. Dino, Selma, Melissa, Nedim, and a guest star political analyst Sami Hamdi were what made be experience memorable, life-changing even. The tour package included fun activities like water rafting and serious activities like the Srebrenica memorial, and the guides made recommendations that were worthwhile, especially the cable car overseeing Sarajevo.

The food? Unforgettable. The carefully selected restaurants served up authentic Bosnian cuisine that was both ḥalāl and absolutely scrumptious. From in-season figs to smoked beef strips to the naturally delicious gelato recommendations, every meal felt like a celebration of local flavor.

Our accommodations were equally impressive. The 4-star hotels HTG booked were consistently clean, quiet, and comfortable—perfect for unwinding after a full day of sightseeing.

What really sets HTG apart is their attention to detail and genuine care for their guests. You’re not just booking a tour—you’re joining a thoughtfully curated experience designed for Muslim travelers who want to explore the world without compromising their values.

The Bosnia expedition tour was my first organized tour and it was an outstanding experience. Met some very wonderful people (organizers, other visitors and the Bosnian people) and had many memorable moments. It was truly a long awaited family reunion ❤️❤️❤️.
I'm very proud of my Bosnian brothers and sisters. Allah is with you and He will never deprive you of the reward of your deeds in this life and in the afterlife.

Well what can I say. I am not an easy person to please and now... I really have no words to describe it.What an absolute fabulous first experience with HTG! Above expectations! A MASSIVE THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to Sami, Soumaya and all at HTG! (Selma...Dino....Melissa......Nihar our hero and driver...and our other drivers....) just a BIG THANK YOU to everyone! Arranging the trip took away the headache of having to plan our days out with no timewasting or having to look for halal food etc so our time was well optimised. Thank you for sharing us your stories, and giving us a thorough history about Bosnia through your knowledge and more importantly for me personally was to make sure that the information that I had researched/watched about the 1992-1995 war before I stepped into Bosnia was correct. I'm sure all in our group returned home with something positive and reflective in our individual lives and I too feel I have left a part of my heart in Bosnia. If only the trees of Bosnia could speak as they have seen so much! The ummah of this country are an inspiration to us all with some of the most kindest, bravest people I've met. Halal, fun, history and whats more you know your money spent on this trip is going to help support businesses/ people who are less fortunate. I also have to mention I couldn't have spent time with a better group of people of all nationalities. We have become one big HTG family :)

I will forever remember the mothers of Screbenica and now I have a picture frame of 'The Tunnel of Life' in my living room to remind me of those who sacrificed their lives for survival. A way to remind me that when times are hard you must keep going.

All I can say is thank you to our HTG team for making this trip truly a unique experience. Alhamdulillah we met as strangers and left as family members. My experience was unique and special. The itinerary was curated so well and attention was given to all the details. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly.

I know I will be going on other trips with this group and encourage all my family members and friends to go as well.

We had such an amazing trip & experience in Bosnia, thanks to HTG. We got a unique insider's perspective on the history and current realities. We were so well taken care of. We came as visitors and left with great friends (our guides).

I travelled with HTG for the first time in June 2025, I joined the sisterhood trip to Bosnia. I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience. From start to finish HTG have provided an amazing service. I had a number of questions prior to the trip and Gia was wonderful in assisting me with all my questions. The trip was executed very well, the itinerary was great and we were taken to all the best places (I experienced rafting for the first time and Subhanallah the landscape were beautiful and it was an amazing experience) , the hotels we stayed in were top class. Lunch was provided and all the places we were taken to the food was delicious, service was amazing and some of the view were stunning Mashallah, particular the restaurant in Mostar! A huge shoutout to our guides Melissa, Selma and Nedim, all three of them were wonderful. They were kind, accommodating, and had so much knowledge of Bosnia, sadly including first hand experience of the Genocide...It was truly emotional and eye opening.... They made us feel really welcomed and really looked aftered us! Honestly we felt like long lost family by the end of the trip....If you have been thinking of going to Bosnia or joining a trip with HTG, do it! Insha'Allah I would love to travel again with HTG.
