A great idea but unfortunately not…

A great idea but unfortunately not usable by my elderly relative. The button takes quite a bit of pressure to press and my elderly uncle just doesn't have the strength in his fingers to apply the pressure. I see why they need the pressure to stop accidental presses but it really does take quite a press to make it work.

Works a charm

Works a charm. We take it horse riding and when out and about. Stays connected with no problems with my iPhone as I double check before I leave the house. Would recommend

Bought this device so my partner could summon me quickly if she had another stroke. The bluetooth connection between the phone and the button keeps dropping out even when the devices are in close proximity. Advertised as "SOS", button and it's primary function is unreliable. Useless.

Not convinced on its reliability

**UPDATED REVIEW LOWER DOWN**

I recently purchased two handi sos. One for my wife and one for my mum however the experience with trying to get my wife's working consistently has given me zero confidence and in fact is possibly less safe as you could end up in a scenario where you press the button and believe a message has been sent but in fact it hasn't.

I'm summary getting the button to connect the phone app was fine, it found it quickly, however since then we've found the app closes down randomly or fails to send. Nor does there seem to be a way to ensure the app comes up when you restart the phone (unlike my doorbell app for example).

My wife uses a Samsung s20, one of the most popular models that's fully up to date so not some bizarre make.

I've put two stars simply because my wife is savvy enough to check the app is running before going out walking the dog but as the other device is for an elderly and vulnerable person I could never actually trust it to work.

I've emailed for advice and will update this review if a solution is found but the faqs, instructions and information for trouble shooting is very poor.

**UPDATE**

After trying several options to get the app to stay always on it still didn't work. In communication the seller suggested that this was due to OD changes in iOS and Android however its worth noting I have two other apps that are always background running for my doorbell and burglar alarm so I think they need to look at this.

In the end we tried it on an iPhone 10, Samsung s20 and s21 and none of them kept the app open, worse we found that even when we opened the app and triggered the button it only sent texts some of the time.

The one positive is the seller refunded us quickly after we sent the devices back and for that I have upgraded to three stars.

However, I can't help buy think that this is quite an unsafe product as it provides a false sense of security: when you press an sos button you need to know it works.

Life saving product

This is an excellent product for my brother who has had two strokes, during which, he couldn't work his phone for 4 to 5 hours. The one push approach is great. Set up wasn't very easy as we initially got it to work with his phone (Android) but it took a while to work with my iPhone, not sure why. Now that it is working it can, potentially, save his life. So £40 well spent.

This company do not include any…

This company does not include any instructions with their products and they offer no support to anyone. They lie about how to set up an SOS Button, you cannot just insert a SIM into the Unit you have to firstly insert a SIM into a smartphone to set it up, unless you use an old SIM which has already had it's voicemail deactivated. They do not mention to you that all SOS Buttons needs voicemail to be deactivated before the SIM is inserted. You have to scan the bar code on the box with a smartphone camera and download their app, yet they advertise it as 'YOU DO NOT NEED A MOBILE PHONE! You also have to download the user guide from google to see how the SIM card fits in (like which way up it goes) and they do not mention that you need a NANO SIM as all of their support staff think that you insert a Micro SIM which is not correct and this lie caused me days of frustration. I have got these lies in writing from them to prove it. If you have a problem (or you just give up after days of trying to get it to work) and need to return the SOS Button then guess who has to pay the postage - YES YOU! This is a very bad company to deal with and their products are poorly made and should be avoided at all costs. Let me put it in a nutshell for you - When you buy an SOS Button from this company you are ON YOUR OWN as they are of ZERO Help and the cheapest SIM card you'll get is £6 a month so this will be a cost on top of whatever you have paid for the SOS Button. So you might want to consider an SOS Button Call Centre Service instead in fact I can tell you now that you will thank me for telling you to take that option instead as Handi Technologies and their products are abysmal.

I’m a bit confused about this review, as it appears you cancelled the return request after speaking to our customer service team, so I would assume your Handi Call is working fine.

To address your issues: you ordered Handi Call, which as stated on the product page does not require a phone to make calls, but a phone is needed initially to programme the Handi Call’s contacts.

The Handi Call user guide is online and available clearly on the Handi Call product page. This is to save unnecessary use of paper.

Regarding the SIM card size, I’ve reviewed our team’s response and they clearly state that if you have the incorrect size sim, you can use sim adapters (the small pieces of plastic or card that come with all SIM cards and can also be purchased for £1-2.

Regarding returning items, we offered you the solution to your issue which appeared to be that you hadn’t slotted the SIM card in then screwed the cover on. We then offered you a full refund if you were to return the item. You did not confirm that you wanted a refund so a return label wasn’t sent to you, and instead you cancelled the return request.

Please do get back in touch if you cancelled your return request by mistake.

Love this product

Love this product. I had one of the original items which I think was much more robust. I think the new version is a bit flimsy.
On the plus side at least i can change the battery now so it will last longer.

I am MD of a security services company

I am MD of a security services company, and I am very impressed with the Handi SOS. We are now issuing this to all our security officers so they can get assistance quickly and discretely. In a hostile situation, an attacker is likely to try and stop you from using your phone to summon help. With the Handi SOS, one simple press can alert up to five contacts and give your precise location. This means we can dispatch response officers immediately and reassures our security officers that help is on the way.

The Handi SOS review

The Handi SOS, is part of mine and my familys day to day life now. I have been a close follower of the Handi SOS and have watched it evolve in to the great product you and I see today.

With the Handi SOS I feel safer and I have that extra layer of support, like a safety net.

My wife is pregnant at the moment and you never know what could happen at a drop of a hat, so I do not let her leave the house without clipping the discrete little button on a part of her clothing.

99.9% of the time, you will not use this item's true function, however on the 0.01% time I know I will have this product to get my loved ones or myself the help and support we need.

I cannot recommend this product any more than I have, it's great.

Staff Safety is key

I am a manager within a criminal justice agency, namely a youth offending service. I came across the handisos after I had an issue where one of my staff witnessed a serious assault whilst with a young person she worked with. At the time she was attempting to call the police, management in the YOS whilst trying to manage the situation. I then started to look for support for staff when in these situations and found the handisos. Since purchasing the handisos, staff have informed me that they feel more supported and safe. On reflection in the aforesaid situation if my worker would have had the handisos at the time, then her focus could have been purely the situation. Staff safety in just on click.

As a panic button

As a panic button for when I have called over this is an amazing bit of kit, my wife uses hers for when she is horse riding should anything happen whilst on a hack.
Time will tell on battery life but I’m impressed so far.
