While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

I put my email address in and with 2 days, someone was tried to hack my Microsoft account and Facebook. Got notifications to the email address I put in.
I just checked multiple email addresses that I have used over many years and its findings accurately found webhosts where I had submitted my email addresses and were subsequently hacked. This did, of... See more

Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) is an online service that allows individuals and organisations to check whether their personal data has been compromised in known data breaches. Founded in December 2013 by Australian cybersecurity expert and Microsoft Regional Director, Troy Hunt, HIBP has become one of the most trusted resources for breach awareness and security education worldwide. The service aggregates billions of records from publicly disclosed breaches and provides a simple way for individuals and businesses to search for their email addresses or domains to see if they appear in any incidents. Trustworthiness has been central to HIBP’s reputation. It has always operated with transparency, openly documenting breach sources, handling sensitive data responsibly, and offering services like domain verification so organisations can monitor corporate email addresses securely. Its partnerships with law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, and major technology companies such as Mozilla (for Firefox Monitor) further reinforce its credibility. Over the years, HIBP has expanded to include features like password exposure checks (Pwned Passwords) and API integrations for developers and security teams. Its mission remains the same: to make breach data accessible in a responsible way, helping people understand and mitigate risks after a security incident.

Great service
Really useful service for checking if your email has been compromised. Ignore the 1 star reviews here, they don't seem to know what they're talking about / complain about one non-intrusive ad which exists to ensure the site stays up.

I tried it and got no information about my email address, just a place to buy 1Password. I’m just wanted to see if I had been compromised, not to be solicited into buying a password security site. Very disappointed
Does its job!

Found out I was ‘pwned’ eight times, it displayed legit details such as sights I’ve signed up to. Then gave info on how I can protect myself, changed my password instantly.
Legit and useful
A friend got hacked recently. We traced back the origin (reusing passwords and one got leaked) thanks to this web.
(Even though it only asks for the eMail address (I don't want to end up in more mailing lists), I checked Reddit, Trustpilot, Wikipedia and Google and didn't see any red flags so I trust this page)

This is one of my top ten favorite sites! I use Have I Been Pwned on a daily basis not only because it's great for knowing if your address has been leaked, but also because there are a ton of illegal websites on there like cracked.to or blackspigot and its good to know if people you're dealing with are up to illegal stuff.
It is a very good site
It is a very good site, i did verify my email adress and a while ago it was ''pawned'' and with that sayed i changed my password immediately
Haveibeenpwned is a great site where…
Haveibeenpwned is a great site where you can type in your email and see if it was compromised in an account breach from a website. For example, if you have a MySpace account with your email '*******@123.net' then you would be able to see how many times that your email could have been compromised and how many times has your password been pasted from your account. If your email is found to be breached from a site hack then you should definitely change your password for that email and any accounts that you're using that email for.
you should never give your passwords…
you should never give your passwords out I had someone tell me about this today and it does not sound trust worthy
So useful.
A site where I can check if I am the subject of a data breach and subscribe to future alerts. What's not to like.
Information
The Website itself tells you whenever your account has been hacked, or got caught in a security breach.
Despite the little review, I’ll still give the site 5*
