I definitely hold Lily in high regard as her extensive knowledge, experience and patience in me changed my perspective and experience with the recruitment process.

I’ve currently been dealing with the reading branch. I’ve only left a few bad reviews in my time but upon reflection I’m quite infuriated with how I’ve been treated and my time that has been wasted. I won’t detail all the things wrong or name names because it’s not worth my time and I’m not that cruel, but I’ve seldom seen such unprofessionalism and complacency from a company, I was not surprised to come and read the majority bad reviews on here, extremely and unusually below par, I wonder how the ones of them who actually take pride in where they work aren’t quite embarrassed. If we are all sharing this experience you must sit back and realise you’re perhaps the problem, I doubt they have the capacity and accountability to come to that conclusion. Unfortunately in general recruitment consultants are the worst commissions based workers. They’re leeches doing the bare minimum, doing very little of the uninspired and easy work they’re required to do to make money off the hard workers that make the mistake of allowing themselves to be targeted by them, but I will say this company, as far as recruitment consultants go, are especially shoddy. They all sound quite smug and pleased with themselves on the phone, but it seems to be a misguided sense of confidence, as they are a very below average company of workers as far as skill and competency is concerned and I can imagine the type of people they take on to work with them. Their professionalism and customer service requires work, desperately, the lack of that would be fair enough if they were good at what they do and got effective results. There is nothing to gain from running a half-a***ed company full of inherently un serious people who do work that ultimately will largely be ineffective, and only be a hinderance and not make peoples life better. These are peoples lives that are in your hands in many aspects, we are in a cost of living crisis and messing around with peoples employment, opportunities and money is not okay. For anyone reading, if you must go to a recruitment consultancy (you’d be so much better off going to companies direct but unfortunately people like these ones have slotted themselves in everywhere to inconvenience and milk people dry) do not use hays, I can only imagine their other office locations are similar.

I applied for a job local to me but didn’t hear anything back so I rang them……. they said they would email the company to see if they would accept my application as I wasn’t from the industry (which was a bit odd for admin and it never mentioned anything in the job description) was told they would get in touch with me on the Monday - no response! Rang up on the Tuesday and was told the company was having a meeting about it that day (odd) and they would let me know the outcome by the end of the day - no response! Thought I’d give an extra day and rang up on the Thursday and the contact was on the phone but was told they would call me back - no response! Rang up on the Friday and was told the company had recruited an internal applicant so the post was no longer available 😔
I decided to get in touch with the company for feed back regarding my application and was told they never received my application and because the recruitment agency failed to send them many applications for the post they decided to advertise internally!!

What an absolute disgrace from this agency! I would certainly advise you all to steer clear!

Constantly having to chasing wages having Abbey Simmons cancel my pay on a Friday because they told me 1 hourly rate then they decided to change the rate with out telling me and now refusing to sort money I'm owed. Avoid this company at all costs unless you enjoy being constantly messed around and lied too

Following the pandemic, I left my career in the legal sector. In early 2021, I made an impulsive decision to embark on a career in the education sector. I called Hays Recruitment and spoke with Laura. I had zero experience in this field, but Laura was determined to help me to become a School Attendance Officer. Laura has been patient, professional, kind, encouraging, and empathetic. I have had the opportunity to work in many well-known places of education. Laura is an amazing Recruitment Consultant, and she has been consistent throughout. Thank you for everything, Laura. I appreciate you! You definitely deserve a pay rise!

Got accepted for a job in May, was told to fill out the form ASAP to help with the job process. The communication is awful, I had to constantly ring in for updates. For a recruitment agency that is a massive red flag.

Anyways was told that i fit the bill and all the information was in check so I thought perfect, i'll start in a week. NOPE!

I ring in next week and they're like your advisor has left and there are huge chunks of information missing and is needed for processing, so i got assigned a new advisor. WHO AGAIN AWFUL COMMUNICATION SKILLS!

It's now been over a month since i got the job accepted and i've heard nothing back, i'm tired of ringing in when they should be ringing me and updating me.

WHY HASN'T THIS COMPANY BEEN SHUT DOWN YET!?

Didn’t get paid until 8 weeks after I did a shift at a school. I was specific about what I wanted in terms of work and was made to feel like it wouldn’t be a problem to find, although had nothing offered to me at all. You will be forgotten about and you won’t get employment, unless you’re not picky on what you want to do. Really disappointing, won’t be returning.

I applied for a job that I was pretty much perfectly matched to, wrote a concise cover letter explaining how my experiences covered the requirements of the position (as it may not have been immediately clear on my CV). Didn't hear anything back from the recruiter. So I called him up, left a voicemail with my phone number, but I have not received any call back. Quite clearly a useless agency, and I cannot recommend this agency to anyone. It's worth noting I applied for this position within 24 hours of it being posted so am fairly sure it can't have been filled already. AVOID!

They haven’t a clue what jobs there advertising for I was told I was starting a warehouse job driving forklift when I arrived there it was a labouring Job and management is very aggressive I would recommend anyone to stay away.

Really poor consultant (Beth). Had one opportunity with her and we had several calls throughout the process, had two interviews with the client and then never heard anything from her. Completely ghosted.
4 months later she called me with another opportunity, apologised for not contacting me before and we started the process with the 2nd company, then got a 3rd company. Interviewed for both of these and again completely ghosted.
Her service is terrible.

Dont recommend this agency especially dealing with Paul Joyce havent got paid for the work I did in "Flootplast"...

They are a shambles, you work for them and if your contractor they have an issue if you ask for a little extra money, whilst there creaming of the top. If you leave a role they dont want to give you another one, as if there there the only company out there. Be careful who you kick on the way up. No one is going to be happy being paid crumbs and having the mick taken out of them

Knocked me for wages then blocked me a week before Christmas. No joke proceed with caution trades bloke is blagger.

Abosolute Omnishambles. Totally useless. Use it if you don't want to pay your staff for months on end. Totally useless pre-historic IT systems from another millenium. No wonder their share price is at 10 year lows and at long last their CEO been shown the ejector seat. Do not use unless you want your business to fail.

This company somehow contacted me through whatsapp. It felt like a scam and I feel like it is a scam, so I didn't bother to answer them. Job requirement was: the person has to be older than 20 and it is commission based, no prior experience needed. However, they did not provide me with which company, what industry, what is the specific requirement of the job. So clearly a scam. Please avoid this company. I know desperation for work would make us fall for this type of scams, but please don't fall for it.

They don't respond, they don't care about you. Surprised this company is still alive.

Fu*cking scammers!! As promised I worked one day and they even bother to pay money, “system is broken”, ffs, i*iots!! Not even answering emails :D how they still functioning as a “company”.

"How very professional", I haven't been looking for a job in over ten years, when I asked Hannah, how she got my number and details she simply basically went on to send me a load of information about a job I had no interest in, I had the unfortunate timing of having the message open while I was at my job which I love as I initially answered it believing it was a customer, my manager saw it and now thinks I'm looking for another job..... Thanks for that.... No respect for consent of contact, no respect for the fact that I wasn't interested in whatever horrible job they had lined up for me to apply to and no respect of privacy for data, when pushed for how their company obtained my information which is something I have an absolute right to know, she told me she was busy.

Received a call this morning from the Kent branch because I applied for two jobs in slightly different sectors and one full and one part. After 30 plus years of working with vulnerable individuals and families in various roles in social housing apparently they could only see a one dimensional applicant, no transferable skills and god forbid no driving license. They were aggressive and hostile and clearly called for an argument. If you are going to work for these guys use the Victoria branch where they are much more professional.

Woeful experience with Matri Westlake. All friendly while she is putting you forward for a vacancy, but then ignores emails and phone calls and ghosts you. Poor service.
