I received a message on LinkedIn from a "Human Capital Specialist" at Hays named Danielle Palmer (from Lexington, SC - yes, how absurd) who sent me the following message:

Very strange, very odd. I responded with caution and stated that if this is a legitimate job opportunity, they'd respond with the link and proper details - boom! Profile was immediately deleted.

Contacted me for multiple jobs. Saying I'd be sent via email the job descriptions etc. Would be contacted next day to proceed. I hear nothing from any of it no emails no calls when I finally get in contact they use some bullshit excuse and then proceed to do the exact same and just ignore me for weeks. If you need a job highly recomend look anywhere but here got more chance of finding an opening in a bin

If I could give this company zero rating I would. I don't understand how my son has been struggling to find a job for almost a year, when there are so may incompetent, uneducated and unprofessional people working as recruitment consultants. Absolute waste of time

Poor in my experience too. Sara Smith in particular, was unkind regarding what my interests were and actually sighed heavily and then abruptly ended the call. Not everyone has the same interest in motherhood, thanks.

I was contacted by one of the recruiters for an interview with a well-known company, which gave through Hays, a verbal offer.

3 months later after multiple back and forth emails/calls, I was told by Hays to just find another job. Felt like I was a disturbance to get rid off before the Christmas break. Did I get a specific reason for why the offer was withdrawn? Nope.
I did not depend on this job and of course not receiving a written offer after a week screams red flag.

I was then ghosted for 6 months before receiving a voicemail for a catch up call.

Don't waste your time with them.

Hays have to be one of the worst recruitment agencies I've ever encountered. Over the years whenever I looked for work they're adverts would pop up, I would apply and then nothing, no thanks for you application, no 'sorry you weren't successful'. Their behaviour is absolutely pathetic, their recruiters are unskilled, useless and incompetent to the highest level, seriously how do you end up with that many useless toxic people in your organisation? I can only imagine how useless their management and ceo are.

I will now actively avoid all hays job positions and I would suggest everyone else do the same.

Complete waste of time. Applied for multiple jobs, not heard from a single one of them, not even a rejection email, which makes me think none of the applications reached their destination. On top of that kept getting emails from Hays recruiters with jobs that were completely irrelevant to my education and skill set - replied to a couple of them, not heard back.
What's even more dodgy is that later in the day, I'd get cold calls from insurance and accident claim companies. Avoid!

Very worst Recruitement agency, they don't work for today and tomorrow never comes, they have putted all the fake vacancies on site, i have applied for many jobs and contacted them since Feb until now i have not got any single review and neither viewed any of my application, after calling them they will always say that team member is reviewing i don't know who is that member is working?? Time is more important and i guess this people are just wasting their as well as everyones time.

One of the Worst Contracting Experiences I’ve Ever Had

My experience with Hays.co.uk has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the very beginning, communication was poor and inconsistent. Important details about the role, expectations, and contract terms were either glossed over or completely omitted. It felt like they were more interested in filling a quota than actually matching me to a suitable position.

Once the contract started, I quickly realized that what I was told during the hiring process was completely different from the reality of the job. When I raised concerns, I was met with indifference and vague responses. Hays took zero accountability and offered no support when problems arose.

Payments were delayed, invoicing was a hassle, and getting a clear answer from anyone was next to impossible. The consultants seemed clueless or disinterested once the contract was signed. I’ve contracted through other agencies before and never had this level of unprofessionalism.

If you’re a contractor looking for transparency, support, and basic respect—avoid Hays at all costs. They’re disorganized, unhelpful, and only care about their commission. Never again.

I received a call from Hays regarding a job opportunity and proceeded to apply as advised. However, after submitting my application, I heard nothing back. Despite multiple follow-ups over several weeks, I received no response or update on the role.

The lack of communication and professionalism was disappointing, especially after the initial outreach from their team. A simple update—whether positive or negative—would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning their reliability and commitment to candidates.

Would not recommend based on my experience.

Was contacted regarding a role I applied for, spoke on the phone regarding my CV and was told they would be forwarding my CV and expect to hear back over the next few days. Never heard from them again, didn't respond to my emails. Seems like I'm not the first or will be the last person to be ghosted.

Applied for a job via a local jobs facebook page. I emailed over my CV to the recruiter personally and applied on their website directly. I heard nothing back for around 2 weeks. I then recieve an email to say I was unsucsessful as the job was already gone. I emailed back as the job was still being advertised and the end date of the advert had not passed yet. I was told that there would be interviews next week ad they would see if the company would look at my CV. I'm unsure how could there be interviews if the job had already been filled?I I felt like this was a completed scam and there was no job in the first place. Also after some investigating the salary was far too low for what qualifactions were expected. I should have known something wasnt right as the job was not adversised on the companies official website and just through Hays.

I have been contacted by them and they have also organised an interview with the company based in Glasgow.
I attended the interview and it went well as they were happy about my experience because it was perfect for the job role. After the interview this girl (Linda) just disappeared, she’s not answering on the phone or emails I have sent, asking if I can have any answer.
They are very unprofessional. Better looking for a job on my own.

Contact Aaron regarding a role,(Absolutely unprofessional and not a nice person to speak with) Enquired about the salary on the listing and was happy to proceed. He then decides to ask me instead what my hourly rate is, I told him the Salary amount equivalent is fine, the he just tells me he isn't interested anymore and just hangs up, like what??? That's just appalling coming from a recruiter, Hays need to really monitor this, just goes to show with everyone elses' ratings they don't...

I have had several interactions with so-called "recruitment experts" from Hays, and the experience is always terrible.
A summary:
- I get emails always asking "are you looking for a new role?" and even though I already said "yes", and provided my CV, they always ask the same question (and for the CV).
- Most of the roles have nothing to do with my profile, experience or knowledge. It's completely blind fishing.
- On the rare occasions the role presented to me looks interesting, I never, EVER, hear back from the recruiter again. The phone numbers in the email footer never connect to anyone. They -all- ignore LinkedIn messages and connection requests.

The experience is, pretty much, appalling: "get an email, reply to an email, try to call, silence". Every single time.

I really can not recommend Hays, as every interaction I had with them was unprofessional, and utterly terrible.
