Bank Leumi Review

Bank Leumi Review

I will not forget my experience with this bank. I paid 2,350 shekels, and they are still charging me an additional 56 shekels. I did not even want this card in the first place, yet I was charged anyway.

I feel like 2,350 shekels were taken from me, and I did not receive proper help or support from the bank to resolve this issue. I tried to contact them, but unfortunately, my complaint was not handled properly.

Based on my personal experience, I do not recommend dealing with this bank.

Horrible service

Horrible service, especially for non-Israeli clients.
Do you have a non-Israeli ID? Expect difficulties with identification at every single step. Same with non-Israeli phone numbers. The English part of the website is extremely limited. Reaching tech support is one hell of a challenge. A random Israeli on the street is likely fluent in English, but somehow this doesn't apply to their call center workers. If they promise to call you back / send you an email - there's no guarantee that they will. Expect multiple calls stretching over many days to resolve anything.

Leumi`s financial dealings in the region have led to calls for boycotts from some international organizations.

Conclusion:
1. Tax Evasion Scandals: In the past, Bank Leumi has been involved in several legal controversies, including accusations of helping wealthy clients evade taxes. In 2014, the bank was fined $400 million by the U.S. Department of Justice after it admitted to assisting U.S. clients in hiding assets in offshore accounts to avoid taxes. This scandal damaged the bank’s reputation internationally, particularly in the U.S.
2. Money Laundering: Bank Leumi has faced accusations of being involved in money laundering activities, which further raised concerns regarding its compliance with international banking regulations.
3. Handling of Customer Data: Like many large financial institutions, Bank Leumi has faced criticisms related to data privacy and cybersecurity. Customers have expressed concerns over the handling of personal financial information and the risk of cyberattacks.
4. Political Criticism: As one of Israel's largest financial institutions, Bank Leumi has been criticized by some political groups for its perceived alignment with the Israeli government's policies, especially concerning investments in areas like the West Bank. Its financial dealings in the region have led to calls for boycotts from some international organizations.
5. Environmental and Ethical Concerns: Some advocacy groups have raised concerns about Bank Leumi’s financing of industries that contribute to environmental degradation and human rights violations, particularly in the context of its investments in the defense and construction sectors in disputed territories.

Do not go near a BANK LEUMI

It is a terrible Bank to deal with. Customer service is the worst. I have a 2012 Toyota that I am trying to sell in January of 2024. The loan was finished in 2016. I still cannot get them to give me the paperwork/change the computer status to state the loan has been completely paid off. No one has ever come to claim the car against the loan, surely I paid it off. They are the worst in customer service. I have been in Israel for 15 years, I have an American background, do not go near Bank LEUMI

Stay away from this bank!

Stay away from this bank!
They recently spent millions into a new marketing scheme where they say they have the best customer service that is available 24/7...
They might be answering quicker, but each one of their agents is not qualified to understand or do anything related to your account. They will tell you it's fixed, but it's not. We have been chasing them for two months now and keep getting false answers. Stay away if you want to feel your money is in a safe place.

WONDERFUL SERVICE BY DONNA HAGARY

Hi! I wanted to say that I have many issues dealing with Bank Leumi on the App that is not in English and confusing in Hebrew. However, anytime I speak or meet with a Banker, I receive amazing service. As today, by phone, I needed to order a international credit card for travel abroad and DONNA HAGARY was the agent who helped me and she was AWESOME. Donna is quick, courteous, and fabulously friendly and professional. The entire transaction took less than 10 minutes. I would like to ask that my review of DONNA HAGARY be sent to her manager for their information...because she is a pleasant and wonderful agent to work with and one of the main reasons I stay with Bank Leumi. Thanks so much and Hag Sameach!

Bank Leumi deserves less than one star…

Bank Leumi deserves less than one star but the option doesn't exist. Dreadful service, dreadful employees. They treat you like dreck, assuming you're willing to wait an eternity until your number is called.

I am shocked COVID19 terror from Leumi bank!

I am shocked! Israel is not helping at all with the situation with COVID19. We were restricted to walking 100 meters from home and I couldn't go to the bank to put money. I used CAL only 2 times and today in March 2020 and April 2020. Today I receive calls from CAL and they ask for debts! They charged me from my bank and bank had insufficient funds so I got fined for 140 NIS already and I will be charged more fine on CAL. It is outrageous what is going on. Israel is so outdated in bank service. No one country is taking monthly payments on cards and bank accounts and here they charge for everything and non stop!!!!! Shame on CAL! Shame on bank Leumi that charged a single mum in one go! And do not receive any benefits and no money from my ex husband for kids. This is just Israel way of dealing with people! Shame! Shame! Shame! Today I talked to Olga from Cal. She refused to say her surname. Not polite and just asking for money without asking and what if I don't have a job? Rubbish talks about help!
