Only use HelloAsso if you want to alienate your customers.
We have previously used The Little Box Office for ticket sales. The only reason we swapped was it was all in English, and we wanted to sell more to French speaking customers.
This was a big mistake. HelloAsso say they are free - but they have hidden methods of getting money. In short, they are dishonest in their approach and resort to what amounts to emotional blackmail to get our customers to donate to HelloAsso.
In the end we have had to add warnings about these methods to our web site, where we have linked to HelloAsso for ticket sales. We're stuck with them now for this event, but will NEVER use HelloAsso again.

We are very sorry if your experience with our platform was not satisfying.
HelloAsso is a free service for non profit organizations and 100% of the money they receive is then transferred to their account (without any fee). The only way HelloAsso is getting paid is with facultative contributions from people who choose to support us when they are making a payment on our platform. Thanks to these contributions, we can remain free for all of our +250K organizations.
When they use our platform, people can choose whether they want to support us or not and they can also change the amount suggested if they want to. We really want to apologize if your participants felt some "emotional blackmail" when they made their payment. This is not what we want. If our platform was not clear enough about anything, we are sorry. Your participants can contact us at contact@helloasso.org if they want a reimbursement of their contribution.
We really care about what our users share us about our platform, it helps us to get better so thank you for the time you took to share your opinion.
