Stay away from Hexo!
They try to cheat every customer they can!
I commissioned Hexo to conduct an EICR and PAT for my property, and the technician attended the property on 20th to carry out the on-site inspection. During the on-site visit on 20th, the technician did not point out any non-compliant issues or raise any concerns about the electrical installation. However, I received an email from them on 24th stating that the inspection failed, without clearly specifying which parts of the electrical system were non-compliant.
I immediately replied to them to clarify that I had the entire property fully rewired in 2021, and a valid electrical installation certificate was issued afterward. All electrical work passed the inspection in full compliance with regulations, with no defects identified at that time.
What troubles me is that Hexo team is unable to provide clear written details specifying exactly which parts are now non-compliant, nor can list any concrete issues. Despite this, and asking me to pay nearly £3,000 for the proposed remedial works.
Furthermore, Hexo's communication has been extremely unsatisfactory. Before I confirmed and booked, they emailed me multiple times every day to follow up. Now, however, they barely respond to any of my messages regarding this problematic inspection result.
I therefore have reasonable grounds to believe that they are charging me unreasonably and excessively. And failure to provide professional, detailed explanations for the alleged non-compliance and maintain proper, timely communication is completely unacceptable. The way Hexo is handling this matter feels misleading and exploitative, and I reserve the right to pursue further complaints and appeals regarding this unfair and unprofessional service.
DO NOT BOOK! They are cheats trying to make money.
I live in a modern 2 bed flat with 300 similar apartments and none of them have had their EICR fail as they used other companies.
The electrician who attended was unprofessional throughout. He opened multiple sockets during the inspection and did not properly reassemble them before leaving, which raised immediate concerns about the quality of the work.
More concerningly, before leaving he offered his own private services and suggested I contact him directly to carry out further work outside of the company. This felt inappropriate and undermined my confidence in the integrity of the inspection.
At the time, I was clearly told that everything was “100% fine” and that I should expect a satisfactory report. However, I later received an “unsatisfactory” EICR with multiple issues flagged costing £££ to fix, including incorrect details about the age of the property.
Given that this is a modern building and other flats have received satisfactory reports from different companies, I have serious doubts about the accuracy of the inspection.
Overall, this was a disappointing and concerning experience. I would advise others to proceed with caution.
If I could give this electric company zero stars, I would. Dealing with them has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Their customer service is practically nonexistent—endless hold times, unhelpful representatives, and a stunning ability to pass the blame without ever solving anything.
Billing is a complete mess. Charges appear out of nowhere, explanations are vague at best, and trying to get a straight answer feels like pulling teeth. And when something actually goes wrong—like outages or meter issues—don’t expect urgency. You’ll be left in the dark (literally) while they drag their feet.
What’s most frustrating is the sheer lack of accountability. No follow-through, no communication, no sense that they value customers at all. It honestly feels like they know you don’t have many alternatives and take full advantage of that.
Avoid if you can. If you can’t, brace yourself for a deeply frustrating experience.
Very efficient and professional. Turned up on time and did a very thorough job with certification. Will use again.

I chose this company because they offered a very quick appointment, at the time I specified, and offered the cheapest quote (£137) which had to be paid upfront.
They arrived on time and the inspection was completed in about an hour or so.
Sadly, the report (failure) did not arrive until 9 working days later. It might as well have been written in Chinese for all the good it was and made hardly any reference to the "so called" deficiencies so that I had to email them to get guidance to what they alleged were problems. They NEVER answer phone calls but you have the option of a call-back. The report included two estimates £1100 or £500 depending on whether I chose renewal of plastic consumer unit (with metal) or just replacement of 2 RCDs and a single CB.
Considering that the existing plastic consumer unit replaced a cast iron fuse box 13 years earlier my opinion of the cretins who drafted the regulations to remove metal fuse boxes and replace with flammable plastic was not benevolently enhanced...but they learned in 2016 that metal was safer after all. Who knew?
After deducing which items needed sorting I purchased the necessary parts (£123) and installed them myself, a straightforward DIY job. Thereafter, unhappy with Hexo's service, I employed a local electrician (by recommendation) to carry out another inspection which included checking my work. He told me that apart from relabelling the CBs and disconnecting an unused round pin 5amp socket NONE OF THE OTHER SO CALLED DEFICIENCIES needed to be rectified!
Conclusion:- The low price of Hexo's inspection is a cynical attempt to drum up expensive work.
Cannot recommend.
From first enquiry good comms.
Appointments kept including time slots.
Very professional and thorough.
Engineers all trained to very exacting standards.
Knowledgeable of current regulations.

Stay well clear of this company! Work was left wholly incomplete, and what work was done was dreadful.
No response from their company, and we are presently seeking legal advice.
I recently had a really good experience with Hexo Electrical on two different occasions. They were quick to get back to me and made booking really easy, giving me a clear time window and even giving me a reminder my phone the day before my appointment which was really helpful.
The engineers turned up on time, were both friendly and easy to deal with, and clearly knew what they were doing. The work was done quickly and one took the time to explain everything he replaced, including what to do if anything comes up in the future. Overall, just a really smooth and hassle-free experience with great service. I’d happily recommend them to anyone needing electrical work or checks.

Really solid service from start to finish. Communication was clear and prompt, and they kept me updated ahead of the appointment, which makes a big difference. The engineer arrived on time, got straight to work, and handled everything efficiently without any fuss. Professional, knowledgeable, and easy to deal with. Would happily use them again.

I have serious doubts about this company, because i had them do an EICR test on my rental 1 bedroom flat, the report was that it needed £364.00 worth of remedial work to be done. When they returned to to carry out the said works, my tenant told me they were present for no more than 10 minutes. i'll let you draw your own coclusions. Thankyou.
Good and efficient. The engineer was on time and was speedy!

I was really impressed with the speed of the follow-up by Hexo Electrical Testing, as well as the communication prior to our appointment. We received a reminder call ahead of the appointment, which was really helpful. The engineer turned up on time (which is often not the case in my experience!) and all the necessary work was done quickly and efficiently. The engineer was super friendly and clearly knowledgeable. We felt like we were in good hands, start to finish. As somebody who has worked in property for decades this experience was amongst the best.
