We have in the past ordered wines from Hic and always been happy with process and delivery.
They state delivery will be within 7 working days from placing the order, and if the customer hasn’t heard within 10 days to get in touch.
We waited seven days and contacted them by email. What went wrong this time. No reply. Resent the email. No reply. Customer service on this occasion
NIL. Customer service is key to any good business and improvement to communication is needed.

Lovely small wine merchants

I had a great experience using Hic! Wine Merchants. They had the wine I wanted and delivered well packaged within the seven days they stated in their communication with me.
The wine was a competitive price as I had three bottles for the price I was quoted by other companies for two, so I was very happy. I also had a personalised handwritten note from Andy & Michelle included with my wines unlike other companies I've used in the past. I shall certainly use Hic! again in the future.

Hic! Is awesome!

Hic! Have a wide selection of wines at great value prices, smooth end to end experience couldn’t fault it! I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely hand written card from Andy & Michelle welcoming me as a new customer. Thanks team Hic! I look forward to ordering from you again :)

Just treat customers kindly and fairly

*** Updating this review in light of the wholly false and misleading response from the business owner to our original truthful, evidenced based and fair feedback.

You can judge for yourself the truth of what happened here based on our review and the response.

There is no malice in a truthful and evidence based review of a business and its customer service and we did not say we were financially out of pocket, Hic is in the process of refunding us.

Many of us want to support small businesses, and we don’t expect, as I was lectured, ‘Amazon delivery times’, but asking for an update is a reasonable behaviour.

To respond to Hic’s comments - we were verified customers of Hic and have the emails to prove so, including confirmation of the order and their subsequent cancellation of the order as they were unable to fulfill it.

Having received confirmation of our order on 23rd November for six bottles of wine we then heard nothing, so on the fifth working day (they say 5-7 working days for delivery) I sent an email simply asking for an update but still nothing from Hic.

Finally, I got to speak to ‘Andy’ who advised they in fact only had three bottles of the wine ordered in stock, after lecturing me to read my confirmation email. Maybe spending a couple of minutes sending a one line update to a customer would go a long way to securing more repeat business rather than wasting time having to respond to fair and evidenced feedback.

Andy thought it helpful to inform me that they didn’t actually have enough wine to fulfill our order. He then went on to lecture on ‘order fulfilment’, when sorry would have sufficed.

Rude, totally disrespectful and definitely, as we all know, poor customer experiences travels far quicker than good ……

It’s so disappointing having to spend, what little free-time we have available, defending our business integrity against narcissistic individuals like this. This person is not a customer of Hic!, they are not financially out of pocket, yet they have chosen to vent their frustration and attempt to maliciously discredit our business, just because they didn’t get what they wanted, when they wanted it…is this one rule for one and another for small business?

Clearly, through their interactions, they view themselves as far too important to read and respect our communications, alongside the associated terms and conditions they agreed to when placing an order.

This individual placed an order on Saturday 23rd November. They received an order acknowledgement email by return, which clearly states our aim to despatch all orders within 5 to 7 working days.

However, here we are, at so called “Trustpilot” (where it seems any keyboard-warrior, from anywhere, can type anything they choose) and in less than 5 working days, we’re defending a totally unfounded review written with every intention to undermine our business integrity. Why not head over to Judge.me to see over 1400 verified reviews that provide a balanced, fair and objective view of our products and service?

The ‘lecture’, was in fact given to us by this individual and specifically focussed on how we should run our business, both in terms of order fulfilment, including the product journey and subsequent customer notifications. Moreover, we were also educated in the legal ramifications of this transaction which apparently leaves us in "breach of contract”.

Clearly, a quick read (if you can be bothered) of our terms & conditions (agreed upon at the point of purchase) would make you aware of our position in terms of any contract.

Finally, we do have this wine in stock (there are presently 3 physical bottles in store on the shelves, yet more in the warehouse on transfer) and this order would have been shipped well within our predicted delivery window had this customer politely left us to it.

Patience is a virtue...something Elizabeth would do well to heed.

NB: This customer has "UPDATED" their honest and truthful review FOUR TIMES in less than 24 hours.

Fabulous company

This is my second order from Hic and they are fabulous - the wine arrives almost immediately by DPD despite a 7 day suggested arrival and is securely packaged with a lovely handwritten card inside - highly recommend 🤗

Sell gorgeous, well-researched drinks, but not replying to emails. Decided to order elsewhere, because it's for an imminent occasion. A friend has mentioned the same thing, unfortunately.

Poor experience

Poor experience. Ordered and paid for 12 bottles of 2020 vintage wine on 8 Aug. No delivery. Contacted Hic and was advised that they took order but only had 8 bottles of 2020 vintage. I agreed to take delivery of 8 x 2020 vintage and 4 x 2021 which was to a lower standard that what was ordered. Hic then sent 5 bottles of 2021 vintage, 7 bottles if 2020 vintage without notification of further change. Clearly a very small company with lack of stock/ warehouse control.

Be very wary of ordering wine from this vendor. Not a great experience. Better to stick with larger merchants.

As always there are two sides to a story!

This customer was emailed promptly regarding vintage shortfall but failed to acknowledge our original correspondence.

Clearly, upon despatch, there was a picking error on our part, which then resulted in an aggressive email by return from the customer stating they were not happy and (as seems to be commonplace with small business) was seeking to extort monies in the form of compensation.

The customer was offered to have the entire order collected and refunded in full, but refused.

Consequently, the correct vintage bottle was subsequently found and duly despatched under separate cover. So, ironically customer succeeded in their original goal. Needless to say no further correspondence from customer or even a courtesy thank you, but we did fulfil this order in its entirety as agreed by the customer.

A shame we have to spend extra time defending our integrity online against obnoxious individuals like this.

Good service and a broad choice of…

Good service and a broad choice of wines. Being able to mix single bottles is a plus for me as I like to discover something new without committing to 6 or a dozen at a time. Jut had the Mystery case which has an intriguing selection and appears to be offers superb value as the individual bottle prices add up to way more than the case price.
First two bottles did not disappoint and included a sensational USA 'Phantom' red blend. Well pleased, will soon be back for more.

Very Good Service

Delivery on time in full. Excellent robust cardboard packaging. High quality NZ Chardonnay from Dog Point and Greywacke which was good vfm. Would definitely recommend.
