Horrible company. See their credit card receipt, it shows they charge 600 lobster dinners as "expenses" against filmmakers !!!! You can also see what other filmmakers say about them on facebook message boards !!!!
Check out the reviews on shady film distributors on Facebook and YouTube and you will get an idea how many filmmakers they have screwed over! Avoid these guys at all costs! We’ve worked too hard as indie filmmakers to let someone else take all the money out of our pockets!
They are a horrible and deceitful company! I've talked to so many fellow filmmakers that have also been burned by them. Check them out on predatory film distributor groups on facebook and BBB and YELP etc. They didn't report sales, unreported the actual sales, and stiffed us with inflated "marketing expenses" that they could not back up with verifiable receipts !
High Octain abused transparency on our film. They were not transparent with any quarterlies. Allowed mass pirating of our film across the board. In fact, we had to ask for updates on revenue, their math never was straight forward. Always confusing numbers. then, finally, Galen Christy, CEO, cut off all communications... Fyi... Just recently, HOP has rebranded using different company names. They have been the worst Distribution I have ever worked with since Wild Eye releasing in my opinion... Film makers beware!
They took advantage of us. Told us lies about how much money we would likely see from the sales of our film. Lo and behold we saw a small fraction of those sales. We told them we wanted our film back, at least have the decency to give our film back to us! and they came back with some BS how they couldn't return the film to us unless we paid them a "buy back" fee so they didn't "lose money on us". This company has no shame!
High Octane Pictures is a horrible deceitful company that takes advantage of indie filmmakers. See all the filmmakers comments on BBB website, YELP website, YOUTUBE, FACEBOOK etc. which shows you the volume of people they have taken advantage of. They inflate their costs and never pay the filmmakers what are owed. They told them I had to pay them money to get my film back! SERIOUSLY?. avoid them like the plague!
