Great client service
When I bought my Hilo I paid for a year upfront. When I registered for the subscription it said I get a year free, which I have already paid for. I posted a review saying that and Hilo got in touch unprompted and clarified the price, offering me a years subscription. Happy with that.
I was getting inaccurate readings compared to by Omron. However I have calibrated it twice now after the initial usage and it is now recording accurately. I had a call with Iván de la Fuente González in customer service who offered to do a zoom with me to sort the issue, and if it was unsuccessful, to refund, or replace the wrist strap. This wasn't needed as it calibrated ok on the third try, but really impressed with the service.

It was easy to set up but the…
It was easy to set up but the measurements of the Hilo cuff were very much higher than my Omron Evolve. So I’m not confident in the accuracy of the band at all and regret buying it because I feel I don’t have a reasonable idea of what my pressure really is. High readings of the Hilo go to 168/83 whereas I’ve never had that high ever on my Omron which averages 140/75 at the very highest even lower. I can’t fathom why the discrepancy between the Hilo cuff and an Omron cuff. I did find a couple of readings very high like above and quite a few 157-59/80-83 . The concern is the very high readings and so many readings close to 160/80 mark. I just never get these readings ever on my Omron Evolve and I have 2 of them an old one and a new one.

Regret buying this band
Gives different readings to my medical BP meter and keeps losing connection. No response from HiLo customer service. Regret buying this band.

Aktia band 2 years on, no longer Hi BP
I have been using the Aktia band for about 2 years now, and am on my second wristband due to one of the retaining bands perishing. My readings have been most satisfactory, and accurate, as frequently checked against an Omron arm monitor: it is an excellent tool for managing my BP and I have benefited enormously by having 24 hour readings, being able to link cause and effects. Regular calibration is important to ensure the most accurate readings. It also produces useful informative reports that I give my GP. The only down sides are that
1) it isn't waterproof for swimming
2) the reading gaps for movement (exercise classes) and times it doesn't read. Otherwise it would be 5 star.
However, I was so impressed with it, we bought one for my cousin as a gift as she has hypertension. But this is now marketed as Hilo and unlike My Aktia, it says the 1st year is free, then it costs £119 pa to use the app, which I feel is pretty steep, and it won't let you use it until you sign up with your bank details for storage to use the following year. If you wish at that stage to continue. This aspect I found very disappointing, I don't think we would have bought it as a gift had we realised that on top of the initial cost, the band couldn't be used until you committed to this sum in advance. I assumed she would use it for a year then decide if it was beneficial for her and agree to the financial commitment at that date.
Cannot fault it at the moment
So far its been excellent I have cross checked it with my traditional cuff and out of seven readings only two had a 5 mmg difference
I only gave it four stars as the wrist strap was only just big enough for my wrist (I am not overweight) and i struggled to put it on by myself. Another centimetre would have made all the difference.
Why they do not include the large size as standard i do not know?
Needless to say i changed for a 14mm leather strap ( also not keen on silicon)
And I can take it off to clean the device and my wrist as and when required owing to the extra length.
Thats a bit picky but so far the device has worked well and i think its a good investment and a great aid to monitor my blood pressure day and night and to see trends over the week/month. Although I do think £119 is a bit pricy for the yearly subscription whereas Omron and a few other traditional blood pressure monitors apps are free, or at a moderate subscription for the same information, although in a basic form (upgrades for more detailed information in their pro versions are available in some apps) However some rival wrist bands offer their app for free and my apple watch and a fitness tracker that I own also come with free apps and apple also includes an alarm to warn of high readings in real time.
Its been a month and the monitor works well It appears to have settled down. I had one day where the reading period was being missed.
I found the solution was that my hilo was getting grimy (i own a coffee shop) and with trips to the kitchen making coffees etc as well as wearing it for 24 hours it only needed a damp cloth wipe to get it reading properly again. Also i found that rubbing your wrist clear of the band a few times a day made sure the readings were accurate
I am very happy with this product and can recommend it
Technically brilliant but needs strap options
The device is incredible used it now for nearly 3 weeks and it has been incredibly useful in my recovery from manor surgery. Only 4 because of the strap, it is quite small and also brings me out in a rash which if gets any worse mean I won’t be able to continue using it
Hilo is easy to use and set up.
Having confidence in the accuracy
Having confidence in the accuracy of the device is key to its value, also ease of use and how well presented the information too 5/5 well done
Just not good enough for a "healthcare product" provider
- I bought the Hilo W/band because systematic BP monitoring is an essential part of my recovery plan from particular surgery I've recently had.
- Having lost the charger (my fault - we assume, probs thrown away with the packaging), I tried to buy a replacement from Aktiia. Firstly, because my W/band device has no markings on it (batch/ ser nr), it was impossible to tell which variant of charger I needed to buy.
- I couldn't get the web-site bot to recognise my topic so e-mailed Aktiia with the labelling details on the box (fortunately retained) instead.
- After several exchanges - without any recognition of the device labelling shortfall or apology for the ridiculous protraction I was put through - and even though I told them how poorly / vulnerable I was (and still am) - I finally managed to order the correct replacement.
- They took the money on Mar 31, and have yet to deliver the charger. When I chased the delivery (having received zero notifications from them), I was told - quite unsympathetically - that it was my responsibility to chase up the carrier (Royal Mail) and was provided with a link to click to track and/or rearrange a delivery as RM claimed that there was no access available to my property. (I'm in a prominent position in a village High Street and received 2 other deliveries on the day the delivery was supposedly attempted.)
- When clicking the link for re-delivery options, the RM website says "There are no re-delivery options" so I duly informed Aktiia (with a screenshot) and - after another unproductive series of emails - (2 days ago) they said it has been referred to their "logistics team" and will "keep me posted once I have more information".
- Meanwhile, even after 10+ days of pointless wrangling about £25 worth of product, poorly old me still can't monitor my blood pressure.
- From my POV, this is woefully poor performance & just not good enough for a "healthcare product" provider.

Dangerous and waste of money
Started with the Hilo band end of January 2026, as I recently suffered a brain haemorrhage and I’m now on blood pressure medication. As it had been medically approved, etc I trusted the hype and the readings, and consequently my GP increased my medication. However, I have found over time, despite calibrating numerous times the wristband is very inaccurate and inconsistent with the Hilo cuff and my own validated Omron (running at around 20 points higher systolic)- It’s not fit for purpose, (when I last tried to wear it, the wrist strap gave me a weeping sore) - Aktiia Support have been useless, going round in circles and struggling to get a refund, despite breach of consumer rights act 2015. Don’t waste your money. Follow up GP appt booked

Great, if it works.
I ordered a band, and it worked superbly for a couple of weeks. Great data tracking, and very comfortable.
After a couple of weeks it failed to sync to my phone. Assistance from HiLo was terrible, with no technical support for ages. I eventually gave up and requested a refund and even that took forever.
If they sort the technical issue then it's a superb product, but the technical support is abysmal.

Subaru’s taken over by Hilo app is not good at all customer support is atrocious my friend had to throw away the band as it won’t connect to the Hilo AAP when it was Amrita it was fine
My bend has same problem now app hang up and it says it is paired but won’t connect to app
Never buy this unless you want go loose £250
They're after your money
While the HiLo does an excellent job of monitoring blood pressure, prospective buyers should be aware that much of the capabilities of the system are not available to the user unless they pay a monthly subscription amounting to almost £120 a year. For example, all of the functions on the home screen of the app are locked out unless you pay. In other words, while preaching the user benefits of their device, this is just another money-grubbing company, not really concerned about your welfare, but only about how much money they can extract from your wallet.
The response from the company is mere fluff: the functions locked out are sleep, steps, and heart rate - which I get from my watch (costing £40) for no additional subscription. These are hardly functions demanding much more in the way of R&D, or medical validation. At over £200 for the initial device, one might reasonably expect such functions to be included.

I purchased the Hilo band on October 2025…
I purchased the Hilo band on October 7th, and to summarize my experience in one sentence: it is literally helping to save my life.
Over the past months, I have compared its readings with several different medical devices, and I consistently found the measurements to be accurate. It may not always be precise to the decimal point (although in my case it has been very reliable), but that is not the key point. Even when measurements are not perfectly exact, the real value lies in the data over time. When properly interpreted, this continuous stream of information can genuinely make a difference and in some cases, it can be life saving.
As of today, I experienced an issue where the band stopped working. I reported it to support, they promptly asked for a short video to verify the problem, and shortly after arranged the shipment of a replacement device.
Five stars across the board for the product, the customer support, and above all for the vision behind it.
The readings are just not accurate
The readings are just not accurate. I’ve got a normal monitor at home and the. Difference is ridiculous. If anything the bands readings make me worry more so it isn’t good for your health. The doctors have taken my bp on 24hr tape and all good. I want a refund.

In my opinion, a functionally unstable product.
Whilst it works generally well overall, issues of function are abominable.
The monthly calibration just does not reliably work without multiple attempts. Today, six readings and three arrempts failed to produce calibration.
The ‘phone light’ further info readings have never worked.
Earlier requst for service/warranty put me in loop of messages/photos etc with no ultimate service.
At the point of giving up, having been a client from the outset.
Now marketing expensive membership, this looks to me like exploitation of a basically unstable product.

Faulty band and extortionate subscription
Initially I rated the Hilo device high. I bought mine in December and then bought my wife one in January.
However my band then developed a fault where it would keep disconnecting from the app on my IPhone.
To reconnect it you have to unpair it in the Hilo app, forget it in the Bluetooth settings on your phone and then go through the process of pairing all over again in the app. Not a major issue but it needs to be in the charger when you do it which you don’t always have handy especially if you’re away from home.
I have had numerous sporadic communications with the Hilo “help” team where they advised to me to do various normal things like - turn it off and on again, turn my phone off and back on again, update the app, unpair it and pair it again Zzzzzzzzzzz. Then they ask me to send the data log from the device to them. This I had to do twice. I had to chase for a response and their answer was a normal IT cop out that it was not their device at fault but my phone, a newish IPhone 16 Pro Max.
To cap all this I now discover that if you don’t renew the annual subscription at a mere £120, the band becomes useless within 30 days! When I bought my Hilo the subscription renewal was only c£79 but if you didn’t want to renew you just got limited data and only a rolling 7 days worth of blood pressure data.
I think having this faulty device and realising the change in subscription goalposts has increased my blood pressure…….. bit counter productive.
Faulty devices which are not replaced and extortionate subscription fee makes this one to completely avoid.
