Queen of the Ocean - Nothing short of captivating

Hosting Queen of the Ocean was an absolute pleasure for us at Oddfellows On The Park. Working with Emily and the entire crew was seamless from start to finish. They provided excellent venue support and were incredibly flexible with the event layout, accommodating all our needs.

The crew was not only professional but also friendly, making the entire experience enjoyable. The performances were nothing short of captivating, leaving all our guests thoroughly impressed. In fact, the feedback from everyone who attended was exceptional.

Truly a memorable evening. The immersive nature of the event truly immersed both our staff and guests. We even overheard one guest remarking, "Oh God, this is awful," upon hearing the simulated noise of the ship hitting the iceberg, which perfectly illustrates how deeply engaging the experience was.

Unnecessary bad language

Went to see Scrooge in Bournemouth Pier this evening. Had high hopes because this novel is a favourite. However, we left early because of the amount of bad language from the Scrooge character. Why? It brought nothing to the story, didn't add to the fun and was quite unnecessary. Maybe Histoire Productions should think about putting a warning in their blurb. Then those of us who find this language offensive could choose not to attend.

Queen of the Ocean immersive theatre and dining event at The Bowden Rooms Altringham

What a fantastic evening. On arrival, we were greeted as if boarding the ship, immediately creating the correct atmosphere. There were lovely displays and information boards giving some history and insight into some of the characters we would encounter during the evening. During pre dinner drinks, Captain Smith and the other cast members mingled and playfully interacted with the guests which was rather fun. Most of the guests had gone to great effort to dress so up it was hard to tell who were cast and guests apart which added to the experience.
The food was great and served efficiently.
The show was immersive, interactive and great fun. Glad it wasn’t too immersive and we stayed dry!
Enjoyed it so much I have booked the Overlook Hotel and Scrooge immersive theatre and dining events for later in the year.

Queen of the Ocean, Bournemouth Pier

I am obsessed with Titanic so HAD to experience this night. My partner was dragged along under sufferance but got into the spirit of things and we both assembled marvellous First class 1912 outfits. We arrived to fabulously dressed other passengers and a young man took our coats and put them in the cloakroom. We needn't have worried about needing them apart from on the pier since it was STIFLINGLY hot in the venue. Much too small a venue for the volume of folk present. We were led to our table which was tiny and very cramped and found our name cards which had the pre-ordered menu printed on the back. I agree with other reviewers that the theatre company should supply printed copies of the only surviving menu from that night. I have seen people complain about the food but being a total Titaniac I knew exactly what we would be getting. We were brought our complementary cocktail and I have to say the table service was efficient. About 7p.m. Captain Smith appeared and lots of folk were having their photos taken with him or posing alongside the "Queen of the Ocean" backdrop. There were also various small exhibits around the room including a board which I swear said "Thomas Andrew" instead of "....Andrews". LOL. There were also two screens up either side of the room with the sea on them...shame we couldn't see the real sea outside the window but to be fair, it was dark outside. The company are missing a trick here, there SHOULD be backdrops of the Titanic's beautiful dining room, especially during the points in the evening where we received any of our three courses. When the performance finally started I rather enjoyed the Captain's ironic optimism about the journey and was delighted when he spoke directly to me, I was dressed to the nines and feeling Regal. Three maids also materialised and one sat at our table to tell us she was getting wed. The food when it arrived was okay, it was what I had ordered and about as average as one would expect. I was disappointed at the lack of creamed carrots with my main course though, we received carrot batons which looked suspiciously as if they had come pre-cut in a bag. The performance was okay, and having done walkabout theatre myself I believe the cast were doing their best...although I agree with other reviews that there should have been cast members peppered amongst the paying passengers, present at the tables and no one would be any the wiser. Some parts of the evening did drag on a bit and I saw a few glum bored faces in the room, apart from the people throwing booze down their necks and giggling. The screens now showed Titanic but very poor graphics and not a soul on board, there is far better on youtube. Also the ship sinking up to her nameplate on the hull ( incised actually) was a bit odd when a few minutes later she had unsunk herself again. The narrative from the actors was also confusingly mismatched to the screen which was displaying a minute by minute synopsis of Titanic's last hours. Also hearing "Blue Danube" on a loop was irritating. There really should be live music from a string quartet, although I will let the company off for having both "Song d'Automne" AND "Nearer my God to thee". Also the singing of a hymn mid meal was a bit incongruous!!! The evening culminated in the screams and cries of folk drowning and a solemn small roll call in descending age of those lost. There are also some fab shots of the ship now, complete with rusticles. All in all not a bad night, I enjoyed it but it needs improvement, glad we didn't pay Savoy prices for it.

Hi Inga,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on the event at Bournemouth Pier. As a company, at Histoire Productions it is always important for us to receive feedback to help us to progress, and improve our events. Much of your feedback I agree with, for example, the show would be wonderful with the backdrop of the first class lounge, live music from a string quartet and more actors to play roles such as Molly Brown or Bruce Ismay to sit and be part of the first class lounge really would be fabulous. Our long-term vision is to one day have a fixed residency somewhere to create a first-class dining suite based on the Titanics and have live music throughout the night from Wallace Hartley and his band. We are also very passionate about the Titanic here so for us this is a project that we are determined to achieve. At present, as we are building our business we have to be realistic about what we can do in a variety of different venues over the UK, within a time scale that suits and a cost that also appeals to a wider demographic of people.
It is obvious that you are a Titaniac for noticing the different music and understanding their relevance. Your comments regarding the facts on the screen and what was happening in the room is something we have juggled with and again is something that is tricky due to the amount of time we have to perform compared to the timing of the ship's actual descent but is always something we look at and tweak.
As for the food and room temperature comments, I will send these to Key West themselves although I would like to add that working with the team at Bournemouth Pier was fantastic and we really were welcomed and they were a brilliant group to work with.
I hope that one day when we have our residency you will come and join us once again.

Terrifyingly terrific night at Overlook…

Terrifyingly terrific night at Overlook Hotel. From start to finish we had a great time at this great immersive event. Walking in there was a fantastic atmosphere and the singer was sensational really setting the tone. The actors were great and interspersed their performance during an excellent three course themed meal. We were equally enthralled, terrified and some great surprises. We came away on a high having been involved in a superb performance and really great all round event. Would highly recommend

Queen of the Ocean, Cardiff Queen of the Ocean, Cardiff We went to see the Queen of the Ocean…

We went to see the Queen of the Ocean at The Coal Exchange Hotel, Cardiff on the 29th of April. The actors were really good and the beautiful vintage surroundings of the dining room really set the stage for the production. The story of the Titanic striking the iceberg was told via the actors and large video screens so at times it was very moving. A lot of customers were dressed in period costumes, so it was nice to see so many people who had made the effort. The only criticisms are that the food was quite dry, but I appreciate that this is outside the control of Histoire Productions. A live string quartet would've been a great addition as there would've been on the original Titanic. All in all it was a great evening and we enjoyed our experience.

Riveting performance

The retelling of the Titanic story was simply but movingly told. The proximity of the actors added to the intimacy of their stories. It was cleverly conceived and well acted.
One sour note was the appalling rudeness of some of the audience, who talked and laughed throughout. I wonder if the cast members might be a little more stringent in asking (in character) for people to be quiet. One girl was openly giggling while a character was praying. It perhaps could also be pointed out before the show that there will be moments when silence and respect is required. Also PLEASE don’t use the modern version of Eternal Father, but the one that would have been sung in 1912.
But still worth the money and I’m glad I went.

Hi Sheila, we are glad you enjoyed! Thank you for raising your concern, we will certainly do our best so it will not happen again (we are sure Captain Smith did not appreciate such behaviour of other guests either!). We hope to see you again in the future! :)

Amazing!

A wonderful, emotive performance that really captured the true essence of the evening. The actors were both sensitive and professional in their delivery of the story and the atmosphere created, was at times, haunting. The food was also delicious.
We had a fantastic evening and really enjoyed the experience.

Chernobyl

Chernobyl. Went to see it in Sheffield and while we had high hopes, we left very dissapointed.

The actors are very friendly and have good presence.

There were 4 actors playing multiple roles and a sound man who could be seen at all times during the production as the curtain was drawn back and he was next to the big screen. Very few props and I would struggle to see how this was “immersive”.
Microphones were intermittent and the performance had a break about 5mins in then nothing else for the 1.5hrs.

Overall I felt quite bored. The bits you really wanted them to play out were rushed and then other parts seemed laboured and you wanted the “story” to move on.
You didn’t quite “feel part of the event”.
Being sat down perhaps impacted as it was a struggle to see the front stage from just over half way back and there were lots of single empty seats all over the place.

Big shame as this could be an amazing experience with a bit more fine tuning and thought. I won’t say exact details as it would contain spoilers.

Chernobyl Immersive experience - probably worse than the real disaster

Went to see the Chernobyl show on a recent tour to Birmingham. The venue was very cold and consisted of school benches.

The immersive experience consisted of 3 actors playing multiple parts in quick succession - and clips from the Chernobyl TV show (this was the best bit). Every 5 mins there would be a 20 minute gap. Microphones kept cutting in and out. Immersive is the wrong word for it - rubbish is the right word!

Lots of people left half way through - I wish I had done too!!

The entire evening was great

The entire evening was great. The food was delicious, the catering staff attentive, courteous and efficient and the actors were wonderful. Starting from being light hearted and jovial to how the tragic event unfolds, they never broke character once even with the interactions where you could get into the role with them too and they’d ad lib back. The table decoration was lovely too and the entire night was handled professionally and portrayed so well and sensitively. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have just attended the Titanic…

We have just attended the Titanic Production at The Midland. If it wasn't for the exceptional food, service and venue, I would be extremely disappointed. The 'production' is very limited and the props are abysmal to the point of cringeworthy. Needs a complete overhaul as overall, it just doesn't work. The piped noise of the engines and music at the beginning is terrible, just classical music would be better. Or, given the price tag, live music would be more appropriate. Can't help feeling the event is using the prestigious venue as a launch pad for an under par performance

Fantastic Queen of the Ocean event.

We recently attended the queen of the ocean experience at the Midland Hotel Manchester. 23 Feb 2023. Before booking the tickets I spoke to historie productions regarding accessibility and also a dietry requirement. They where very helpful friendly and approachable. I was confident. Making our booking. On the night the cast where very very professional, at times I'm sure they could have easily broken character when interacting with the public but they never did at all. They where professional from start to finish. They definitely looked after our dietary requirement. Although technically that should have been down to the hotel staff not the production staff,
(two separate enterties) but yet they where happy to do this. I also noticed how great they where with the children who had attended, and went out of there way to ensure the kids had a great time. Yes a lot of the atmosphere was somber, and this was conveyed very well by the acting. Given the theme sombre was called for. All in all we had a fantastic amazing time totally loved it. After the event finished, we where one of the last, ok we where the last to leave, we got to speak to the actors again, they where very friendly and approachable. I would definitely recommend The queen of the Ocean theatrical dining experience, and would definitely attend again. Infact already planning too. We will also consider any other productions they produce. Thankyou Historire Productions keep up the good work. ( ps Mable grab the fur)
