The product might have been amazing. I needed to evaluate multiple types of restoration softwares. When I asked about the trial, they asked me to fill out a 100 word review in exchange for a free trial. No details about what that meant, or what it included. After a few days (going back and forth to show them I actually dd the review) I got a one week trial with 50 credits. A photo restoration might be 16 credits, so I can try 2-3 photos max. I told them I was evaluating this for my photo restoration business I started and got a response saying I was lucky I got my one week trial because, "...these processes rely on high-cost AI servers." Lost one potentially large customer. I deleted my original review and left this one.

I made a new purchase of Hitpaw and installed it on my computer...It worked great however I later registered Hitpaw using the wrong email address causing me to lose access to the program. This was my mistake. Technical support got me back up and running in no time. I am a photographer and use Hitpaw to edit shots and enhance the visual quality of my pictures.

I bought a one-month subscription of the VikPea video conversion software to convert 10-15 old videos of my son when he was a baby. I paid 69 euros for it, and the only way to do this was a one-month subscription...no other easier option like a one-off. Then, I missed the cancellation for a day, and they recharged me again. I reached out to them explaining this, and telling them I would not need their services as it was a true one-off, and they refused to refund, they even tried to upsell me. The software is not that good, works so so, and then the pricing is a scandal. Would never use them.

The software is practically unusable. It constantly freezes, crashes, and interrupts the processing, making it impossible to get any real, usable output. In my case, I did not receive a single properly processed result.
The business model is even worse. You pay for a subscription, but when you actually try to use the product, you are forced to buy additional credits/points. This feels like a deliberate cash grab and a misleading pricing scheme designed to extract more money after you have already paid.
Overall, this product is poorly built, unreliable, and a complete waste of money. I strongly regret this purchase and would not recommend it to anyone.

Wanting to upgrade some very old videos twenty or more years old this seemed the perfect answer. What they don't tell you is that your home PC must be of a gaming standard for the graphics card to ensure a quick transfer. I don't have one, didn't find out until I queried the tech dept asking why a 45 minute video had taken 26 hrs to downloaded less than 21% of the donor video. Their answer was to buy some credits on line, and go via the Cloud, but I soon discovered I would need more than 2000 to convert this file, at an estimate cost of $200 at a special introductory rate. An upgraded graphics card would cost me more than that, about £250 in the UK, so a non starter. Stated I would be applying for a refund as the whole thing was less than five days old, but was told there would be no refund as there programme was good, the fault was my computer not being powerful enough.
Good news, bad news. Good news - I only had a one month subscription which I am in the process of cancelling. Bad news - it cost me £50 to find out. Almost seems like a scam because they do not advertise there computer requirements in the blurb. Very misleading to us non tech users. Give these people a miss, they want your money by buying credits to speed up any transfer process.

I never received the free trial and within a day realized that having to buy the credits in addition to the software was going to be too expensive. But Hitpaw has a hidden clause and does not actually refund anything within 7 or 30 days. Unlike many competitors. Very bad policies and customer service.

March 10 addendum - in the end it took 5 emails to get my full refund. While this may seem like good customer service, keep in mind if I had given up after 1 or 2 emails, I would have received a 30% refund. They kept trying to give me less than 100%. My credit card bank would have reimbursed me the full amount, but that isn't the point here. I will increase to 2 stars, but that is mainly due to my persistence.

Tried this photo editing service for a month.

At first it was great! Other than the fact that its deathly slow and they force you to buy "tokens" to speed up the rendering process. Oh well. Photography is expensive.

About 28 days into my 30 day auto renew subscription I logged in to upscale some snowy owl photos, as a wildlife contractor for places like Rachel Carson, The Department of the Interior etc I have deadlines and such.

Right where my *tokens* usually are it said "buy"....wouldn't let me use the program at all, basically the same screen you first get before you subscribe. So I assumed that maybe it wasn't a subscription, so I put in my credit card info and clicked buy. BOOM...program worked again. I was happy. Upscaled my photos and went on my day.

Until the next night when they auto charged me AGAIN. Did some more digging and it turns out I had 2 subscriptions. Well if I was already subscribed, why did the software not work the night before? Probably a glitch yeah. I mean those things happen, easy to work out with customer support.

So I emailed customer support, explained the issue, sent a screenshot showing that I now had 2 subs, not 1, and how that happened. Simply asked for a refund on the one I just bought because I already had a current one and something on their end made my product not work without again purchasing it. Its only $23 so I didnt care that much.

Waited a day and got a reply email. Where the CS agent essentially called me stupid in the worst display of the English language I've ever seen, told me that i should have known it was a subscription and they refused to refund either of them, full well knowing their software had told me i NEEDED TO IN ORDER TO USE THE SERVICE. Their "Solution" was for me to spend another $130 and buy their lifetime license *which btw you still have to buy stupid tokens for it to be worth half a piece of animal excrement because without them it takes 40 minutes to render a single photo*. No discount, no "lets look into the technical glitch" just........buy even more.

I cancelled both photo subs and the video sub on merit alone. Will be going back to Topaz Labs. Yeah their expensive but they can spell and don't screw people over or nickel and dime them $0.25 per photo to have them rendered within the calendar year.

HitPaw has a number of good products. The one that I am currently using is one that can reduce the video file size by many magnitudes and still retain good quality. Also, the process itself is fast and efficient. If you ever need video file size reduced without loss of quality, definitely try this product.

One thing to be careful about is re-installation of the app in multiple devices. It does not matter that you have valid reasons for installing in new devices (for example, your previous devices crashed and no longer work). This is because the system sets a limit on the number of unbinding times (removing the app's association to previous devices) to 3.

After 3 times, things become more complicated

The software works well and meets my expectations.
Customer support was responsive and helpful in resolving my issue.
Overall, a good experience.
