Low fees but unresponsive support
Saxo’s fees are among the most attractive of the Swiss online brokers. But be prepared to invest a lot of time.
1. Account opening: The online registration itself was quick. Then my application was rejected because my registered address was a “c/o” address. That requirement isn’t mentioned anywhere during sign-up. I had to go to my local municipality and update my official registration before I could continue. Stating this upfront would have saved me days.
2. Transferring existing holdings: Several of the UCITS ETFs I wanted to transfer from my previous bank weren’t available in Saxo’s transfer form. One of them is a mainstream iShares fund. For one ETF the system only offered a different product with a different ISIN. I submitted a support ticket, but after several days I still had no reply. The ticket also never appeared under “open tickets” in my account, although Saxo says it would. In the end I had to call just to confirm it had been received.
Bottom line: Good pricing, but onboarding and transfers take far more effort than they should. Better upfront information and faster support would make a big difference.

- Compliance department is a nightmare! They ask again and again for more documents to be sure they did their job and as it seems quite impossible for them to really “Know their customers (KYC)” they keep harassing me, asking for documents.

Avoid Saxo Bank – Extremely Unprofessional Compliance Experience
My experience with Saxo Bank’s compliance department was absolutely unacceptable.
I was simply transferring my own money from my own Swiss bank account to my Saxo account, in Swiss francs. Despite this, I was subjected to intrusive and, in my view, completely disproportionate questions about my employer, income, and tax affairs.
What should have been a routine transfer turned into an unnecessarily invasive and frustrating compliance process. The way Saxo handled the situation gave me very little confidence in how they treat their clients or manage legitimate customer funds.
A bank should make its clients feel that their assets are secure and that they are dealing with a professional institution. Unfortunately, my experience with Saxo was the complete opposite.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Saxo Bank, particularly anyone planning to hold substantial assets there. Think very carefully before trusting this bank with your money.
For me, this experience was enough to seriously question whether Saxo is a bank I want to have any relationship with. I would not recommend Saxo Bank.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. I have called more than 10 times trying to get support, and I was always disconnected because nobody picked up the phone. It feels impossible to contact anyone or get proper help. Extremely frustrating experience, and I absolutely cannot recommend Saxo.
