Worse company ever

Worse company ever. Never had a contract with them. Electricity and gas moved to Shell Energy as Homeshift energy provider went into liquidation after last tenants vacated. After months of trying to sort agreement with Shell Energy, here comes a debt collection letter from Homeshift via AJJB Law (no prior contact)!!!!. Despite various emails with dates and explanations, still Homeshift persist. They only read part of your response and never answer your questions. This company should not be allowed to trade. Avoid at all costs.

worst customer service experience ever

Summary: A year after moving out they contacted me demanding money that I had already paid to Shell Energy (whom I was contracted with). Awful, unresponsive customer service then made solving this a nightmare, repeatedly asking for the same information and ignoring large parts of any correspondence.

Full story: I have never had an account with homeshift. Despite this a year after moving out I began recieving emails about an overdue balance of hundreds of pounds on my account. After many emails back and forth it became clear that despite Shell energy billing me for the entirety of my tennancy, homeshift believe that for the first month they should not have, demanding I pay them the balance. Getting to this stage was not an easy feat as they repeatedly ignored information or paragraphs of my correspondence (needing to email them my tennancy agreement 3 times for a flat I had moved out of a full year beforehand) and seemed to lack any understanding of what I was saying.

Once I agreed to pay the months bill, things were then made worse by Homeshift forgetting to update my account so it still demanded the full amount (covering periods long before I had moved into the said flat).

After finally paying my bill simply to get them to stop emailing me. I included proof of payment in an email to them - a step they didnt say was necessary but I thought prudent. Only for them to reply and ask for all the information I had just given them in the previous email again. Once again showing how little attention they pay to any correspondence.

Pointless Service

For me a pointless service that was pushed upon me by the letting agency. With hindsight I should have selected and dealt with the service providers directly.
Then I wouldn't have received a final bill 18 months after leaving the property.

Threatening debt collection for debt that doesn’t exist

Originally contacted me over a year after I moved out to clear a small outstanding balance which I did immediately. They confirmed account was cleared and I wouldn’t be contacted again. A year later I get an email chasing me for the same amount threatening me with debt collection and a bad mark on my credit report. When I queried they confirmed I didn’t owe anything. Looking at other reviews it seems this is common for ex customer to get chased years later for debt they don’t know about and in my case debt I didn’t know about and then debt that didn’t even exist! It seems this is common, starting to wonder if this company is a scam

Disgraceful service, bad faith business practices

Had nothing but a bad experience with HomeShift after they were recommended by our estate agent.

1. HomeShift internet did not reach the minimum speeds advertised, and was often far worse than this. It was so bad that I had to tether off my phone. The advertised maximum speed was never reached, the best we had was around 1/6 of this, and almost always below minimum advertised.

2. HomeShift told us our bill would be rising by 40% within 6 months of being a customer. When asked about this the response was supply chain costs. Despite this, I got a quote for the same address from their website which was still the original price, as it was for my neighbours. No new joiner discounts were advertised, so I assume HomeShift’s business model is to ramp up prices midway through a tenancy as they know people won’t want to move at that point.

3. The £75 setup fee is non-refundable, despite the only work required being sending a router. This is particularly egregious when you consider point 2.

4. HomeShift waited 7 months after I cancelled to tell me I owed them money still and threatened debt collection. This is despite having no final bill, and the HomeShift website showing the Internet account as ‘Closed’.

5. HomeShift failed to set up our water, energy, and gas accounts. Would have saved time and effort if we just did this manually.

This company is an absolute disgrace. Do not use them. It’s hard to think of what could have gone worse.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that a company can sell a service that has a paid setup fee, not meet the level of service offered then not refund this fee - how am I supposed to know they wouldn’t offer what was advertised until after it’s installed?

Just say no to HomeShift.

Absolute nightmare. No Trust.

No idea who writes 5-star reviews for this company. Absolute scum.

First of all, a few years back, they haven't told us about extra charges for the account and then when we were moving, they said we owe them £1500 which we didn't have. I set up a direct debit for them to pay it back. Was paying month to month, no delay. NOW they are emailing me with the settlement offer, saying literally this:
"If we don't hear back from you then we have the right to withdraw this offer after 30 days and collections activity will continue as normal. This means your account could be passed to a third party debt collection agency which may result in additional charges or impacts to your credit file."
SO!!! If I don't accept the offer, they get rid of my debt and they are threatening that my credit file can be impacted. GREAT job guys. You're falling lower than ever. I am paying constantly on time as we agreed but that's not enough. You are thirsty for cash and you don't give a damn about people. Remove every single phrase from your website that says "we help you" because that's a lie. You only help yourself to get richer. Reputation level..wow..

Looking after me always!

I was contacted regarding an outstanding balance on my internet contract (Homeshift were great whilst I was with them, I've just moved back in with parents), and I was confused regarding the balance, but Marichelle was excellent help, very responsive and explained everything to me. I received confirmation of my payment and cleared up all confusion, would definitely use again and be confident asking for help if I needed it!

Post COVID-19 Shakedown

I don't understand what is going on with this company but 3+ years after I terminated service with them, I received an email claiming I owed them for an unpaid internet bill (£28).

There is no proof, no follow-up emails. Nothing.

I am still trying to investigate the legitimacy of this request but it is appalling and unprofessional.

Do not use this company-- it is only a pain.

By far one of the worst companies

By far one of the worst companies, I have had to deal with. Sending me an email more than a year after the closure of my account to tell me that I had an overdue balance! Sending rude emails, bad customers services! I do not recommend this company! You'll waste time!

Marichelle has been extremely helpful to me. I've recently just started my new job and I have been picking up old emails, cleaning up outstanding bills and anything regarding Homeshift she has been dedicated, efficient and proactive in delivering the best service.

Cannot thank her enough!

False debt notice

I received an email from their Debt Collections team over a year after they went out of business saying I owed them £256.
When they were taken over by Shell energy in Nov 2021, I had £104 overpayment owing back to me which I had to fight so hard to get back.
Where this ‘debt’ has come from is beyond me, I have emailed their debt collections team and ‘hello Homeshift’ to get an explanation but no reply.
I will be reporting to FCA as I believe this could be fraudulent practice - see other similar complaints below.
