Paid £39 for peace of mind - BEWARE of hidden automatic scheduling
UPDATE: I paid the disputed charge to avoid debt collection, but I'm writing this to warn others.
The Problem: Housekeep's setup process is deliberately misleading.
During signup, they ask "How often would you like cleaning?" with options like "every two weeks" or "monthly." The wording makes it sound like you're setting a preference or recommendation - not that you're authorizing them to automatically schedule and charge for recurring appointments without your confirmation.
What happened to me:
I selected "bi-monthly" thinking I was indicating my general preference. I then travelled abroad and checked the app to cancel any upcoming appointments. Despite this, a cleaner was sent to my property on 26 June while I was out of the country.
Their response:
Claimed "no evidence" I cancelled (won't provide app logs to prove it)
Charged me £39 for a service I never received
Sent debt collection threats within weeks
Refused to investigate or show any flexibility
I paid to make it stop. Not because I owed it, but because fighting a £39 debt collection isn't worth the stress or potential credit damage.
WARNING TO OTHERS:
That innocent-sounding "how often do you want cleaning?" question AUTOMATICALLY SCHEDULES RECURRING APPOINTMENTS
Screenshot everything in the app - they claim they have no record of cancellations
Read every word of their T&Cs about cancellation deadlines (6pm day before)
They will charge you even if you're physically in another country
They jump to debt collection immediately - no investigation, no good faith
The deceptive signup process combined with aggressive debt collection over disputed charges is unacceptable. There are better cleaning services in London that are transparent about recurring bookings.

Housekeep took payment for an expensive…
Housekeep took payment for an expensive job that was time-sensitive (I turned down other companies in the meantime because Housekeep said they could do it the soonest). Then they cancelled late, saying they didn't have anyone who could do the work in my area (even though all details were supplied before they booked the job and took payment).
