Van ateliers in de roze stad Jaipur in India naar onze winkel in Delft; onze producten worden met veel liefde gemaakt van stoffen die met de hand worden bestempeld. De precisie, het geduld, de patronen... zo magisch! House of NILAY is een collectie (woon)accessoires en kleding gemaakt van katoen wat wordt bestempeld door middel van houten blokken. Blockprint is een oude Indiase ambacht waarbij patronen met houten blokken op stof en papier worden gestempeld. Ik maakte kennis met deze ambacht tijdens mijn vele reizen door India. Blockprint textiel is veel meer dan een stukje bestempelde stof. De ambacht wordt van generatie op generatie doorgegeven en als je een stuk stof van dichtbij bekijkt zie je hoe ingewikkeld het proces is. Geen stukje stof is hetzelfde en het is nooit helemaal perfect. Maar die imperfectie is juist wat het uniek maakt. Ik heb mij er altijd toe aangetrokken gevoeld, tot de kleuren en de designs die vaak zijn geïnspireerd op de natuur.

I am buying from House of nilay for… everything textile

I am buying from House of nilay for years now. I have my favourite patterns, styles and colours.
In their physical shop in delft, and online, I never ever disappointed, not even for a second. Everything about those brand makes me happy.
We own three winter quilts and two blankets, all of our bath robes (kimonos) are from there, and most of our pyjamas.
Even when they forgot a pyjama in the last order (I ordered two of the same, so I guess it was a very honest mistake) they were so so friendly and shipped another right away!
I highly recommend both the shop in delft and their website!
