Amazing scenes and great challenges, but let down by poor quality control

As avid puzzlers, my family and I love a good challenge, which initially drew us to The House of Puzzles (HOP). They offer some truly beautiful, unique scenes and varied piece shapes that make the actual building process highly engaging.

Unfortunately, HOP offers more of a challenge than most puzzle companies—but for all the wrong reasons. We have consistently experienced quality control issues, including pieces arriving damaged, bent, or peeling straight out of the box, and worst of all, entirely missing parts. There is nothing more deflating than getting to the end of an intricate build only to realize you can't finish it.

While the imagery is fantastic, the manufacturing quality simply does not justify the £16 price tag. At this price point, you expect premium, crisp cuts and reliable packaging. Until they sort out their quality control, we will be taking our money to brands like Ravensburger or Gibsons, which offer a similar level of challenge but with a flawless finish. Beautiful designs, but ultimately not worth the frustration or the money.

Damaged box received in monthly subscription

Saw the monthly subscription puzzles on facebook and decided to subscribe for £15.99 a month for the large 500 piece puzzle. Despatch was quick and it was quite exciting to have a mystery puzzle arrive. Unfortunately though, the puzzle seals were both broken although the contents were sealed. After contacting customer services it appears the seals were known to be broken on some puzzle due to a manufacturing defect with the tape. A discount of £3.99 ( prehaps the cost of return postage they would have to pay? ) did not convince me to keep the puzzle which also ( according to their website ) should of been exclusive but the one I received could be bought on Amazon. I was told the standard discount for any damage box is 25% (£3.99 in this case ) which wasn’t acceptable as I’d committed to buy a puzzle every month, and with the lack of exclusivity, I returned it and cancelled the subscription. In my opinion, it was a known manufacturing fault and therefore the puzzle should have never been mailed out. On the plus side customer services were helpful but did have limited scope to resolve the issue as was either a fixed refund or a return.

H.O.P BIG 500 PUZZLES

I have been a fan of the BIG 500 range for quite a while now ever since buying several used ones online.
I thought I'd treat myself to some brand new ones, but after my recent experience with damaged/torn pieces and peeling layers of cardboard I think I will revert back to buying used ones at a fraction of the price.

I emailed H.O.P with an issue that I'd had regarding a damaged piece and got no reply.
I then used their contact form and still haven't received a reply. Fed up with the poor customer service, I have since sent the form again and pointed out their statement.
**We're here to help! Excellent customer service is at the heart of everything we do, and we always strive to deliver the best service possible for our customers**

My recent order of 8 puzzles were shown as being in the new style small box packaging, but the ones that I received were all the old style large boxes and to add yet more disappointment I've just discovered that one of them has a badly damaged box. Not good if you wanted to gift it.
I feel so dissatisfied with the quality of the pieces which often come with either separating layers or bent pieces.

IF YOU ENJOY A CHALLENGING JIGSAW THIS IS FOR YOU

For all jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts:
If you love a challenge I can not recommend The House Of Puzzles jigsaws highly enough. A friend recently gave me 'The Farm'. It has intricate shaped pieces which you have to carefully lay together until you find a locking piece. So much more challenging than the usual style of jigsaws.
Hours of endless challenge & enjoyment
