Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the platform to be clunky, complicated, and frustrating to use, with numerous menus and settings making even simple tasks difficult. Customers frequently reported issues with the service, including concerns regarding sales practices and a lack of effective solutions from support for problems that impacted productivity and revenue. The pricing structure was a major point of contention, with many describing it as unfavorable, expensive, and unclear, leading to unexpected auto-upgrades and increased rates. The website itself was often criticized for being unwelcoming and hard to navigate, with functions disappearing and integrations not working smoothly. Some people were dissatisfied with the customer service, noting it was often unresponsive, unhelpful, and difficult to reach, with some experiencing long waits and being bounced between different teams without resolution.

A cautionary tale about brand oversight and “off-book” coaching

I engaged a current, Australia-based senior leader in GTM methodology at HubSpot who publicly promotes “no-fluff” sales coaching via a separate dot-com site linked from his professional profile. Because he conducted sessions using company email, company-branded video links, and company training materials, I reasonably believed this was HubSpot-sanctioned coaching.

Across nearly three years and ≈ AUD $6k in payments, I received no contract, no session logs, no performance plan, and no measurable framework—despite repeated requests. When I challenged the mismatch with standard consulting practice, I experienced deflection and pressure to continue paying.

I’ve since filed complaints with U.S. and Australian consumer authorities. Regardless of how any individual’s conduct is classified, HubSpot should monitor and protect its brand and IP so they are not used to imply endorsement of private services. If a single employee can run a parallel coaching business while leaning on corporate channels and content, what does that mean for larger customers who trust HubSpot’s governance?

I’m sharing this as a consumer warning: verify whether any “coaching” marketed alongside a corporate title is genuinely approved, and insist on written scope, metrics, and documentation before paying.

Review of HubSpot Sales Experience

Our experience with HubSpot’s sales process has been frustrating and misaligned with our needs. While HubSpot itself is a capable platform, the way it was sold to us resulted in a contract that does not match our business requirements.

We originally sought a simple CRM to manage leads and streamline communications. During the sales process, we were presented with advanced Marketing Hub Professional and Sales Hub Professional features. Although we made it clear that we would not be using advanced marketing functions, we still ended up with a package that included them. These extra features are not useful to us now, nor will they be through the term of our contract.

It feels as though the sales team prioritized closing a larger deal to benefit their commissions rather than recommending the solution that would best fit our business. The process was focused more on showcasing features and upselling than on understanding our day-to-day needs. As a result, we are now paying for a system that is unnecessarily complex and more expensive than what we actually use.

This experience has left us feeling oversold and locked into a solution that does not deliver value for our organization. Businesses considering HubSpot should be very clear about their must-have requirements and ensure the package being sold truly matches their usage. We would have appreciated a more consultative and customer-focused approach.

HubSpot has become a very disappointing…

HubSpot has become a very disappointing experience for us. Recently our contact tier was increased without clear notice, which pushed our costs up considerably. When we tried to resolve it, the support was unhelpful and no real solution was offered.

It feels like the company has grown so big that they no longer care about smaller customers. There is no dedicated account manager — instead, your account is managed through a group inbox that rarely responds to emails. For such an expensive platform, the lack of proper account management and support is unacceptable. HubSpot seems more focused on forcing upgrades than actually helping their customers succeed.

Real sneaky snake of a company

Real sneaky snake of a company. They use shady methods to lock in you into contracts and triple the price. Not a company willing to work with their users. I would highly suggest looking at an other CRM. We are doing just fine without this sham company

Beware

Hubspot automatically upgraded our contact tier and then locked it in for the remainder of our 2 year fixed term. Then 2 weeks later told us that half our contacts weren't "engaged" and they'd recommend not sending emails to them. But don't worry, we've cc'd your "Growth Manager" who can help you take advantage of all our features that you're overpaying for the remainder of your term.

When we questioned the legality and compliance with local fair trade laws, we had a full legal template response within 7 minutes. Looks like they knew exactly what they were doing, and hid all the appropriate catches deep in their (nearly 100 page) terms. I guess that's how they keep growing in a saturated market. Good for shareholders, mid-range dodgy for their staff and customers.

Extremely Disappointed – Not Fit for Purpose for a Small Business

We signed up to HubSpot with high hopes, having been attracted by their strong reputation and claims of supporting small business growth.

Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing from day one.
Our account manager was changed without any proper handover, leaving us without the onboarding support we needed.
We were locked out of the system for extended periods, during which we couldn’t use the platform at all.
Despite paying for the service, no one on our team was able to use HubSpot effectively.

When we raised these issues and asked to exit the contract, HubSpot insisted on enforcing the full 12-month term, even though the service had clearly not been fit for purpose and delivered no value. For a small, fast-scaling company, this is not just frustrating but damaging.
HubSpot markets itself as a partner to small businesses, but in our case it has been inflexible, unsupportive, and unwilling to recognise the reality of our experience.

I would urge other small businesses to think carefully before committing to HubSpot, especially if you do not have the time or resources to deal with access issues, or a lack of flexibility.

Poor support. Not flexible after one year with them. Moving to a provider with better pricing and flexibility.

Sketchy company

Sketchy company
I signed up for Hubspot thinking they would be flexible but my experience was extremely disappointing. They automatically upgrade you if you go over marketing contacts and don't allow downgrades. I'd recommend Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, or Active Campaign.

Hubspot - A good CRM for standard sales teams

Hubspot is a good CRM that lets you get started for free. For straight forward use cases (i.e. creating and managing accounts, opportunities and tracking activity) it has everything you need on the free tier. Compared to other tools like Salesforce their UI is much much nicer and easy to navigate. We haven't used all of the more premium features, nor created any custom integrations, but for what we need Hubspot does a good job without any major complaints.

Worst Customer service ever

Worst Customer service ever. They make everything in their power to make you pay the subscription.
We purchased a service to send transactional emails, while integrating we realized that it did not meet our requirements. So we asked for a cancellation, but the we had like 10 meetings with customer services so they can prove to us that the service cannot be cancelled.
We did not use the service, and we won't use it. But still we have to pay $500/month.

Be mindful of client relationships

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. I hired HubXpert from upwork.com to help with a project and trusted them with access to one of my clients. Instead of handling the work professionally, they directly approached my client and attempted to take the business for themselves. This was extremely disappointing and showed a lack of honesty and respect for professional boundaries. If you value integrity and trust in business relationships, I would advise caution before working with them.

Finally refunded after a month-long battle

I signed up for HubSpot’s CRM in August 2025, and quickly realized it wouldn’t meet my needs. I asked for a refund on Aug 2. What followed was nearly a full month of being bounced around between teams, ignored, and asked to repeat myself.

S.R initially told me I’d hear back in 2–3 days. Instead, I was passed through V. D, JVO, A.M, and several “contract” and “commerce” teams — all while nothing was resolved. On Aug 21, I was still chasing them. By Aug 26, I wrote: “I feel like I’m being trolled. This is horrible customer service.”

Only after weeks of wasted time and pressure did HubSpot finally process my refund. I did get my money back, but no customer should have to fight this hard for something so simple.

Verdict: Refund received, but the experience was chaotic, slow, and disrespectful. One star.

Our experience with HubSpot has been terrible, don't do it!

Our experience with HubSpot has been frustrating. Large attachments vanish, quotes trigger unsafe site warnings, and most of our emails end up in spam. The “Send Quote” feature is unusable, which also makes e-signatures impossible. Quotes can’t be moved between deals, forcing us to rebuild $100k+ orders from scratch, and integrations like Quickbooks and HelloSign have only caused errors and lost time. These issues have cost us productivity, revenue, and client trust, and support has provided no real solutions. We’re actively seeking to cancel our contract.

Unhelpful

Used HubSpot to build and manage my own pipeline as there was no CRM in place at a business I started working at. When I was made redundant they wouldn’t re-set my email address to my personal email so I could access the info. All the information I put in there is in the public domain.

Great until you need to upgrade

Great until you need to upgrade, dollars add up fast! We used the free version and then needed three licenses. All of our data was already migrated in and integrations setup. Just keep it in mind, other than that a great free solution if you just need a basic CRM.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. I paid in full for a year subscription. HubSpot’s system glitched and locked me out for a month and a half. It kept saying invalid password when the password never changed. Not only was support next to impossible to reach but when I finally did they took 3 weeks to resolve the issue by rebooting my account. I then asked for either a refund or an extension for the time lost and they refused claiming I have to show proof that it wasn’t a user error. They already had emails from me with their support team. Absolutely ridiculous.
