Damaged goods

After initially entering the shop in clacton I was treated as though I had a terrible disease by 5 fully grown men terrified of a common cold, but saw the fridge freezer I liked & paid £475 cash anyway. & waited for it to be delivered, when it turned up the fridge door was dented rite at the front, top of door at side was scrached and also a scratch on the side, the delivery boys got a woman on the phone for me, I complained to her and she had the worst uncaring attitude possible, accidents happen she said but my frigde had been in 3 accidents already! eventually got £150 knocked off but not cash as i had paid she just grunted it goes in ya bank in 5 days! Also fridge needs two tiles under back feet only way to make it stand level, poor service, poor attitude, damaged goods one to advoid...

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service from Jack and the team at Hughes Clacton on Sea store.
Unfortunately my toaster broke after a few months. Hughes were very quick to arrange a replacement without a receipt (as my details were on their system from purchase date)
They didn't have stock but they ordered me one in and replaced it within 24hours.
When arriving at the store to exchange, they were very happy and polite. They apologised for the inconvenience.
Things go wrong, but it's how a company/staff deal with the aftercare. This was excellent and they could not have done more. Well Done Hughes 👏 ✔

I ordered a fridge freezer via the phone

I ordered a fridge freezer via the phone, the operative James was excellent. The product was well priced and the service was second to none. Delivered bang on time and I was kept informed right up to the minute of delivery. The product arrived in perfect condition. Thank you to Hughes for providing such a good service.

Amazon/Hughes Electrical Stink

Bought a washer dryer from these people via Amazon. They lost our first unit in transit. Item very noisy from the start so after a while took out insurance and had technician call. Needed replacement drum and belts. I maintain that the unit would then be reconditioned, not new as purchased. Hughes wont uplift and credit without authorization number from Hoover. Have called Hoover three times and after pressing all the buttons am told that hold time is 45mins plus. Each time I am disconnected by Hoover after twenty odd minutes. Hughes says hold until whenever. I will never deal with Hoover/Candy or Hughes Electrical ever again.

Worse experience ever . Do not buy any electrical from this seller.

This seller posted item as 14 days free return postage would be paid by the seller. I didn't open the item box and contacted them that as I have read some reviews about product and I am not happy to keep it. They asked me to pay the postage and finally I end up paying £15/- for return just after even one day. The customer service very poor and apparently when I rang Electrical Hughes phone number they said I need to contact ebay team and they don't deal with ebay section which surprised me. However, I gave them example of Amazon, argos , currys and they accept electronic back even you open it and don't like it in original packages upto 28 days.
It was very bad experience first time ever with a company like this I dealt with. They just sell and never look after you so if you want to buy electrical stuff I would suggest to buy from a reputable company .

Same good experience buying a booker and washing machine last year.

Nearby competitors not so hot.

My daughter brought me a TV fro

My daughter brought me a TV from Hughes on 5th Nov it was delivered on the 7th Nov she did not realise you. Needed to ask for It to. Be set up but she Has dyslexia and it is very difficult for her she wanted this as a surprise for me as our TV was not very good and I have health issues and don't go out far so wanted to buy this the next day the 8th Nov she went into the store to ask for help as we had a problem abs they said they would send some one out but would cost £29 has already paid for TV should be covered won't be using this company again as getting more money from customers also when she asked the guy in the shop sat 6th he said if it was one of their team they would set it up but said they don't work Sunday so. It may not be them also my daughter asked him about a sky remote he did not seem that interested he said they sell them and didn't explain if we purchased one how to set it up gave her codes we didn't need for TV set up but didn't seem like he cared then when she asked about sorting TV said it would cost just paid for TV so cost the extra money which daughter got off on black Friday deal so it wasn't a deal as hughes got this money back the TV is under warranty and should be sorted free of charge not sure if I will be buying from this company again as I feel that they are not helpful and just want more money will. Possibly be buying from curry's or else where in store we're quite helpful but not at the service centre or sales centre never had a problem before but only purchased a couple of items in store before but local and they still charge delivery as well thought they were a good company but obviously not as they don't seem to worry about their customers all they want is more money

Would never buy again from this…

Would never buy again from this company. Very poor and unhelpfully customer service from Neil Duncan director.. 13 month old washing machine not working and refusing to speak to Hoover sale rep and try and arrange uplift or change or.. I am a key worker and not had a working washing machine for a month... And worst of all i have to find £129 to get repaired and then claim back from hughes when the unit is only 13 months old..
Crap service concidering they will not even speak to Hoover.
Will never buy again from this company

Here is another update on my dishwasher…

Here is another update on my dishwasher which I purchased from Hughes and extended my guarantee with them.
Months now and I still do not have my dishwasher back.
Apparently they are replacing the casing that they dented and scratched.
I have never had an appliance of mine taken out of my house for a repair only by Hughes.
To keep my appliance for months is absolutely unbelievable and disgusting service.
Any other company I have appliances insured with after two weeks would replace it.
I most definitely will now not shop in Hughes again.
And I’m warning people don’t take out their insurance.
No phone calls no update nothing!
Only received a reply after posting my review on here.
I will keep you updated on their service.

GUARANTEE failure

Bought same model combi microwave oven to replace a 15 year old model made by sharp. After a few weeks had a problem with door catch so I rang and spoke to Hughes advisor who told me that sharp cover their own guarantee and gave me a number to ring them. When I spoke to sharp they sent a link for me to send photos of the faulty catch. They rang me back and said that the part in question was not covered by their guarantee and said I needed to contact the seller. Hughes electrical online. So contacted them and told them what sharp had said they told me that they would contact Colin who dealt with the online store through EBay. Colin rang me and said he couldn’t understand why sharp didn’t cover that part under their guarantee and he would ring them himself which he did and I had a further call from hughes-electrical advisor saying that they wouldn’t replace the microwave for a faulty door and they weren’t willing to send an engineer to have a look at it unless I was willing to pay £70. I was gob smacked to say the least and when hughes didn’t get back to me within the 48 hours as they had said I rang them back after a week and was told they would get back to Colin and ask him to sort something out and get back to me. Which they never did I was a bit concerned if I tried to fix the problem myself that I might have caused more damage invalidating the SO CALLED. warranty. As I heard nothing back I was forced to try to sort it out myself. I managed to do a temporary repair and have purchased the plastic door catch that had snapped from an online company at a cost of only £12. But cannot feel a little disgusted at SHARP and also hughes- electrical online store and will not be purchasing anything further from them. But will consider going into hughes electrical shops and speak face to face with sales staff as we have purchased from them in the past and we’re very pleased with our treatment as customers.

Inaccurately described offer

Yesterday I had a Bosch fridge freezer delivered by Hughes. I have never bought anything from them before and will not be doing so again. The reason I chose to go with Hughes was when I went in their store to browse, a suitable fridge was available at not only a fair price but also had a large sticker on its door saying it came with a 5 year guarantee...most of the other Bosch fridges did not have that sticker so as I am a cautious person, I went to the salesman and asked him to check that the particular fridge I liked the look of did include a 5 year guarantee...he checked on the website and confirmed that it did. I reiterated that I had looked at fridges with other retailers and they said the particular model I liked didn't so could he please make doubly sure? Yes, he said...Hughes sometimes have offers that other people don't ( as a 'preferred retailer'!!?)...it defo included a 5 year guarantee and what's more, a free BBQ, happy days-all I would have to do would be to register it online when I had the serial number when it was delivered.
Of course, roll forward a week, not eligible for the 5 yr guarantee says Bosch...free Barbee?-no, not that either. I could however, as a special favour from Bosch, extend my guarantee for the extra 3 yrs for a special price of £79.
So off I go to visit the branch...yes, there it is, 5 yr guarantee sticker still on the model door, same price, BBQ leaflet still inside. Piccie taken on my phone just to prove to myself that I hadn't imagined it. Spoke with a staff member, not terribly interested in the fact that that I only purchased a fridge freezer from them because of that sticker.. really not very interested that I thought I was going to be getting a free BBQ, in fact, really not very bothered at all. Oh hang on, yes the manager as a 'special favour' will offer me an extended warranty at half price...that will be the £79 available to me via the Bosch website, wow, what a favour ..thanks manager. Really? you are expecting me to be happy about being asked to pay an extra £79 to get the deal which you were advertising and I thought I had already bought? very special service indeed, must remember to tell all my friends.
So I am returning my fridge which is now obviously minus its packaging (as this was taken away by the delivery people) and have to be sold at a reduced price as it has been turned on, opened up and now 'used'. Hopefully Hughes will be more reliable about the returns process than they have been about the initial transaction.
Do Hughes really think that it is acceptable to inaccurately describe something and make no attempt to do anything to sort the problem out?Hopefully this was a genuine mistake (? who knows) but nonetheless has seriously inconvenienced me...I have already taken a day off work to receive the delivery and will now have to take another off to have an alternative fridge (with a five year guarantee) delivered from another retailer as I will certainly not be buying anything else from Hughes. I would suggest that anyone thinking of buying anything at all from these people is very very careful.

I wouldn’t buy a 13 amp plug from…

I wouldn’t buy a 13 amp plug from Hughes. I bought a Sony television and home theatre system that I had trouble with from the start. Sony said television was not compatible with home theatre system but wouldn’t confirm it in writing. Sub woofer kept going wrong and sales assistant said they wouldn’t replace it as it was two years old out of a five year guarantee. I think they sell show room models and things that have been rented. They charged me for a 5 year guarantee although Sony gave me a free 5 year guarantee. Don’t get the Hughes guarantee. Staff don’t know what they’re talking about except taking your money.

Don't order a delivery for Saturday

If you want a reliable service don't use the online sales service. You order a dishwasher with connection and the delivery team could not do this as Hughes had not included it in there delivery instructions so you are left with an unpacked dishwasher. You contact the help team on a Saturday but nobody works in the connection team until Monday. No real constructive support

Before you buy a TV from them check out…

Before you buy a TV from them check out the warranty, I found out to my cost that it was only 1 year the TV started to have issue within 9 months and I though it was fixed. I've since had issues after 18 months outside of Hughes warranty and the TV will cost more to repair than replace. Go to a retailer that has a longer warranty.

Yesterday purchased a TV and couldn't get a signal so today went into Hughes in Great Yarmouth (where I purchased the TV) They very kindly checked it and tuned it all in. Now back home and it works!!!. Thank you so much for the great service
