Avoid.
Although the cakes are nice the customer service is terrible. The order I placed for my birthday arrived with letters missing. When I pointed this out to The Hummingbird Bakery they didn’t apologise nor did they make much of an effort to rectify the situation. I was advised to make a trip to their nearest branch to have it fixed. I was made to feel as though it was my fault the cake had been done incorrectly when it fact it was because of their website. I wouldn’t buy from them again.
Sad that standards have dropped hugely!!
What has happened Hummingbird Bakery!!! I use to love Hummingbird Bakery with monthly trips for cakes and cupcakes for over 5 years. We ordered for delivery the full Chocolate cake, delivery was good, looked beautiful but omg was it dry and sweet, didn't taste of chocolate just cheap and sugary. It tastes like the cake mix you get from the supermarket if not worse. Really sad to see standards drop as I used to highly recommend Hummingbird Bakery.
Honestly DO NOT order the chocolate cake! You are better off getting a prepackaged supermarket chocolate cake.
Lost a 10 year client today.
Ordered the rainbow cake for my daughter’s first birthday. They wrote
Happy Birthday on it which I didn’t ask for and the letters aren’t even proper!!! Also the side of the cake was ruined in box. The trouble is they don’t even give you a phone number or email address to complain. Never using them ever again.
Got 4 cupcakes from the shop
Got 4 cupcakes from the shop, despite texture being ok, range was more limited, they were much smaller, flavours were lacking, and all for £3 each. For a place that used to be superb, it seems to be trading on its name now. I won't be going back.

Absolutely terrible ordering experience! Tried to place an order for the past 3 hours!!! Still struggling, only doing it because my daughter asked it for her birthday! Needed to refill my basket 3 times, then struggled to add the delivery address, which kept dropping off! After order was finally accepted, post code has been rejected, needed to do it all over again!! Finally when all done AND PAYMENT COMPLETE.... I got the email with information that order can not be processed!!! Really, what’s wrong with you??!!! Helpless - never do it again!
Lovely delivery person
Ordered a birthday cake online for my daughter’s 16th birthday (ordered Thursday to be delivered Sunday) it was so easy to order I was convinced something would go wrong and I wouldn’t receive it on the day. I was wrong, the cake arrived on Sunday afternoon and was delivered by a lovely professional man (he was a real gentleman) and also they included a free gift of 3 tea towels which was such a nice surprise. Cake was just as I had ordered. Very happy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Vegan options are great, but could reduce the price.
I love the vegan options! As a food reviewer who is vegetarian, I am mostly vegan when possible, and Hummingbird bakery caters to my needs. I love love love their Red Velvet cupcakes, but they are definitely pricey. Are they worth the price? No. But they are good for the occasional treat.

Still waiting for the velvet cake…
Still waiting for the velvet cake ordered. It is the second time this happens; the first 3 hours delay was the day of my birthday. Today it has been already an hour ... based on the fact they are meant to deliver until 6pm (this means one would expect before that). This is a very poor service and payable delivery for what exactly ?
Nice cakes if you have tons of time
Nice cakes. Disaster business. I’ve now waited for a prepaid order pickup for >30 mins in the same line as everyone else.
Please don't waste your money - stale and inedible
I ordered a selection of cupcakes and a piñata cake for Christmas. The cupcakes were all icing and barely any sponge but the piñata cake was inedible. The cake was supposed to contain lots of smartie-like chocolates which would come spilling out when you cut into the cake, but the barely dozen smarties were stuck to the side of the soggy and damp cake. It was clear the cake had not been baked fresh that day, or the day before. The icing was breaking down making the sponge damp, yet it was clearly stale.
I spent almost £70 and we threw almost all of the piñata cake in the bin and several cupcakes. They were inedible. Please do not waste your money. Marks and Spencer's rainbow cake for £15 is delicious; Hummingbird on the other hand is ridiculously overpriced and on this occasion, inedible.

Worse than average and overly sweet and dry
I purchased 2 large red velvet cakes for a special birthday to give out to friends and family as birthday celebrations changed due to Covid lockdown. I spoke with customer services who were brilliant and managed to organise these cakes for the following day. I can not tell you after spending £100 the cakes were dry , flavourless other than sugar which was all you could taste. I was assured they were baked that day. I can’t understand how they have such a good reputation. Never ever again would I purchase from this bakery. A very expensive lesson. I am too embarrassed to give any of this cake away to anybody.
There is no option for ZERO stars☹️.

Absolutely rubbish product.Too sweet and very plain.
30 pounds for small tasteless cake-joke!
Actually sugar taste cake!
How on earth HB is still on the market???????????????
Overpriced and decidedly Average
Ordered a large Red Velvet number cake and a box of Vegen Red Velvet cupcakes for a company event. Easy enough to order but they don’t give delivery time slots so could arrive anytime of the day. I emailed them to ask if I could have an early time slot and if they could put a small design on the cake. They didn’t even reply to the email let alone do what I asked.
When the cake arrived it had been dropped, wasn’t the couriers fault as I could see the carrier bag handle had snapped on one side this meant where was a dent in the side of the cake.
The cake itself was decidedly average, incredibly sweet and quite mushy.
Based on my experience I don’t feel their reputation is justified especially at the high price.
I wouldn’t use them again.
Not such a great quality and overpriced.
Rigid and Inflexible
I called up to find out if I could have the Halloween cupcakes after Halloween. They said no. This is a BAKERY!!, surely they can 'create' the same cupcakes a week after Halloween! So inflexible...I will never order from this company. They should learn that customer service is key...American company, yeah, right
Very nice cakes
