Extremely disappointed with this firm

Extremely disappointed with this firm, wanted to purchase a property and have waited a year for a viewing to be told it's now got a offer.
A year ago offered a cash purchase and was given two appointments for viewings on the property both cancelled and the property taken off then relisted 6 months later asked for another viewing numerous times to be ignored and fobbed off. Finally after months for another viewing appointment to be cancelled again and told it's sold. It's been a year completely unprofessional, long time a year to be on the market especially when it could of sold a year ago.
Would not recommend very slow at getting back in touch.

DON,T BUY A PROPERTY IN HUNTERS, ITS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING FISHY

My name is Darshan, and I’m writing to share a genuine review of Hunters Estate Agents and Letting Agents in Chatham. I recently called to inquire about a property on Palmerstone Road, which is currently listed at £275,000.

When I spoke to the agents, they informed me that they had stopped viewing the property and had received an offer. This seemed unusual to me, as it’s not uncommon for properties to be listed and then receive offers within a few minutes. Additionally, it raised concerns about the potential for unethical practices, as the agents were reluctant to allow other people to view the property.

I think that the agents may be trying to sell the property to their family or friends internally and then purchase it from a backdoor deal. This is not only unethical, but it also prevents potential buyers from having a fair opportunity to assess the property. I think everybody needs to aware this things and we don’t need to this Hunters agency.

Horrible Company, Do not use them.

They are very lazy with their work and don't try as much compared to other firms we've interacted with. They made multiple basic spelling mistakes in the detailing of certain properties, such as 'life support' instead of 'lift support' and somehow misspelling 'appliances'. They also have poor communications between potential tenants and letting people, telling us 15 minutes AFTER the designated time that the tenants would not be coming, even though the arrival was booked a week in advance.

Poor staff

One of the girls working at the Lichfield branch, Nikita Barker, shared information about me that she obtained through work with my ex-boyfriend that I wouldn’t have wanted him knowing.

Luckily I found out about this and complained to the branch manager, Chloe Warner, and explained why this could have put me in danger. I wanted this flagging and Nikita to be educated as I didn’t want anything similar happening in the future. However after apparently looking into it, Chloe advised that because Nikita hadn’t breached GDPR they were closing the matter. She wasn’t even going to investigate it in the first place, stating that Nikita shouldn’t have had access to the information I advised she had, she only looked into it because I had screenshots proving that she must have done.

I didn’t even get an apology or a promise that they would ensure nothing similar happened again.

Very disappointing, be very careful with the information you trust this branch with. I really hope someone else within the company sees this and provides training that is very clearly needed

5 years renting with no issues at all

I rented an apartment through Hunters (Otley & Ilkley) for five years and honestly had a great experience the whole time. They were always quick to reply, super easy to deal with, and sorted any issues straight away - no chasing needed. Communication with the landlord was also really smooth thanks to them. Big thanks to Donna, Libby, and Leister for being so helpful and friendly over the years. Would definitely recommend Hunters if you're looking for a letting agent you can rely on.

Simply the best

Simply the best

I cannot praise the team at Hunters Estate Agents, Sutton Coldfield highly enough. I am now settled and happy in my new home because of their dedication, determination and professionalism.
David, Emily and Christie were at my side throughout the entire process in an exceptionally challenging period in the market and in the challenging circumstances of my buyer’s sale falling through twice. Others were quick to suggest reducing my asking price but Emily and Christie were calm, highly professional and determined to help me to attain the best possible outcome and calmly steered me through to my sale despite the challenging market conditions. Their communication was outstanding, even checking in with me out of hours on one occasion. Both Emily and Christie were resilient when dealing with awkward agents lower in the chain and drove the entire chain through the sale process in their dedication and determination to ensure it was finally successful. They both went above and beyond what could possibly be expected.
It is true, exceptional estate agents are rare, Emily and Christie are exceptional and I am now living my dream because of them and their exceptional professionalism and passion.
Thank you simply isn’t enough. If you wish to sell, use the true professionals at Hunters, Sutton Coldfield, David, Emily and Christie simply get the job done.

I had Terrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this estate agent. I paid a deposit for a flat, expecting everything to go ahead as agreed. Not only did they fail to give me the flat, but they also refused to return my deposit. Completely unprofessional and dishonest behaviour. I would strongly advise others to stay away – this is not how business should be done.

First-time Renter Experience and Feedback on Renting Process

As a first-time renter, I sought a property in Barnet through your website and was assisted by Gemma. Unfortunately, frequent annual leave made it challenging for her to manage her responsibilities, causing delays in resolving issues promptly.

I want to stress the importance of providing adequate coverage during a tenant’s absence to ensure smooth operations. In my situation, the resolution process was prolonged due to the lack of responsiveness from your agency.

Upon visiting the property, I met with the landlord or their partner, who mentioned that renovations were carried out, maintaining the quality as per the original listing. The property was well-kept and in excellent condition. My offer was accepted, and I paid the deposit.

Hunters Review utilised a third-party inventory company to inspect the property. The inventory report, while seemingly accurate, included photographs labeled as “Professional” or “Hotel Clean.”

I scheduled a date to collect the keys and sign the necessary paperwork. As a first-timer, I was not familiar with all the procedures. I later learned that I could have viewed the property before signing the lease, a step I regret not taking.

Despite this experience, I would not expect such a lack of attention to detail from a well-established estate agency. I hope this feedback will be considered to improve future interactions.

January 13, 2025

I visited the estate agent to sign the lease agreement and collect the keys. Upon arrival at the property, it became apparent that professional cleaning had not been conducted. I provided photographs to support this claim, shared with the estate agent, including the inventory report. The report omitted crucial issues, which is concerning, as it could affect my deposit if I decide to vacate the property. However, the estate agent informed me of a seven-day window after move-in to address any issues.

I requested information about parking availability included with the rent, and will supplement this with photographs of the parking area.

In the bedroom, I discovered mould on the windows and poorly applied anti-mould paint. I will furnish photographs to highlight these issues, though an in-person inspection would be more revealing.

I raised these concerns with the estate agent, as they manage the property. Despite providing photographic evidence, the agent did not conduct a pre-move-in inspection, relying instead on the third-party inventory report’s description as "Professional or Hotel Clean.”

I requested to terminate the tenancy to avoid payment of fees, but it was too late. Mould and damp are serious issues, especially in a bedroom where my child frequently visits.

Upon reviewing UK rental laws:

2. Did You Sign the Contract?
Yes. Signing the contract typically binds you to the agreement, including paying rent. However, if:
The landlord misrepresented the property's condition (e.g., concealing dampness), you may argue the contract is invalid.
The property is uninhabitable due to dampness, releasing you from liability.

The landlord released the 12-month contract but insisted I pay rent until a new tenant was found. I disputed this on legal grounds, citing misrepresentation. The assertion was rejected, and I reluctantly accepted their stance, forcing me to find alternative accommodation while they retained my deposit and intended to collect one month's rent.

The estate agency claimed I had not provided enough opportunity to resolve the issue, prompting me to send the following email:
New inventory was completed during my stay.
The bedroom dampness was assessed and addressed.
End-of-tenancy cleaning was performed, supported by photographs.

The landlord declined all rectifications, opting to proceed with a new tenant. I presented photographic evidence to illustrate the property’s condition upon departure.

This experience has been educational, albeit financially costly. It serves as a cautionary tale for prospective renters with this agency. Conducting thorough checks before signing a lease is crucial, as the agency appears lax in its duties. Improvements in proactivity could enhance their service significantly.

Photographs substantiating my claims were submitted to the estate agency on the same day.

I recently sold my London flat through Hunters of West Hampstead and was impressed with the support and professionalism from first contact through to completion. Reuben John and his team helped to make this stressful period bearable leaving me to concentrate on everything else. A better agent in the area would be hard to find and would not hesitate to use Hunters again if the need arises.

Tamworth branch

Would not recommend this estate agents to anyone, they're unprofessional, Some of the staff are quite rude. Not proactive, they take agesss to reply to whatsapp messages which resulted in losing viewers. They also lied- told me the photographer was on the way 3 times (i chased as he didn't turn up) to which the branch manager turned up 30/40mins later.

Very poor

Hunters Bradford recently sold our house and we found them to offer very poor services. Communication was poor they did not deliver on their promises from the initial sales pitch. Our sales negotiator never once rang us. Robert was the only person to ever return our calls, the app was never up to date and they did no work at all in assisting with the actual sale. We had no viewers as we found a cash buyer before it was even marketed. Should have pulled out of the sale before the marketing was done but was advised to continue. Ended up paying a huge amount for only a very small part of the service that of vetting the cash buyer. Marketing was poor standard communication poor standard and support non existant I would never use again and recommend to stay clear.
