My mortgage process was completed smoothly. The mortgage advisor was always available and answered my questions promptly. In addition, I was kept informed about all the necessary details regarding my mortgage.

I've started my house search with my wife a little longer than a year and half and at the time we weren't sure about what we wanted. I heard about Stephanie from my estate agent at the time. Before e-meeting her, I contacted with couple of mortgage advisors to finalize our advisor search. As anyone might guess, I heard exactly the same things from different people but Stephanie's approach was warmer than anyone else. We decided to work together and I'm very happy we made that decision.

It took a lot of time for us to find the house we wanted in our budget. In this time(1.5 years), we got married, lost some of our beloved elders and many other things. However, whatever the conditions are, Stephanie was always very understanding, courteous and helpful. I always felt extremely comfortable even asking the most stupid questions(sorry Stephanie).

Honestly I wouldn't expect better advisor than Stephanie. I am extremely happy we worked on our house search with her. Thanks a lot for everything you've done Stephanie!

They made everything easy for me, including both the procedure to get the mortgage, but also the support services, financial advice. They were also not limited to this but provided extra advice on different aspects of the procedure.

My experience with Hypotheekrente.nl was excellent. Our advisor was Ezinne Mgbemena, and she was the absolute best. As expats buying our first home, we were a bit unsure of what the process would involve. This was especially true because we wanted to try to navigate the process without a buying agent. Ezinne made everything perfectly clear and put all of our uncertainties to rest. She was very proactive in explaining what needed to be done, arranging every step, and making the entire process stress free. She was incredibly responsive, even sending documents and taking care of next-steps during the weekends and evening hours whenever documents became available. She definitely goes above and beyond, and I couldn't recommend her enough!

My mortgage process with Hypotheekrente is complete and I have received the funds, but I want to be honest: it was not an easy journey for me.
The biggest challenge throughout was a lack of clarity and proactive communication. Two things stood out:
1. My bonus limit was miscalculated by the mortgage advisor and I was told that my base income fell short, no one suggested exploring my performance bonus as an option. I only discovered this was possible through someone outside the process. For something this important, that guidance should come from your advisor not by chance. (At the end I could get the amount I needed with my base income, so we didn’t have to go through that anyways)
2. The valuation agency was instructed to pause my application by the mortgage advisor without anyone telling me. I spent days chasing them, and had no idea.
A mortgage is one of the biggest financial decisions a person makes. Being kept informed even about small operational steps makes an enormous difference to the client experience.
I appreciate the flexibility shown when things went wrong, and I’m glad we got there in the end. But if communication were more proactive and transparent from the start, this process could have been significantly less stressful.

Positively: my mortgage advisor was extremely well responsive and even helped me with filling in the valuation report!

I am an expat and obviously have some confusions and problems in buying a house. I was first referred to Hypotheekrente from one of the makelaar that I met during house viewing.

Renate Meulensteen as advisor was really helpful since day one. Everything about the mortgage itself has been really clear. She even helped with the price indication that I should bid on the house that I finally bought. There was some post bidding confusion as well as I had no idea on what should be prepared, Renate remains calm and composed which still guided us through until the delivery date.

For me as an expat, I would suggest that as a financial advisor, as part of buying the house, apart from the mortgage application, it would be really helpful if expat buyers can get a timeline and lists of what should be prepared with the house. I.e, the notary, taxatie, I think if I had been given a clearer timeline on what should be done since the bid has been accepted, this would have been really helpful. Although at the end of the day, I still could get a cheap valuator and notary with a great service.
