I rarely leave negative reviews

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience.

I received my engagement ring from Ian Gallagher Jewellers in July, and within a month one of the diamonds became loose. I took it back to be repaired, but the exact same thing happened again. It was repaired for a second time, only for another diamond to become loose yet again. Three times in less than a year is simply unacceptable for a brand-new engagement ring.

To make matters worse, we were charged for a replacement diamond, despite the ring repeatedly failing due to what I believe is a fault with the setting. A ring of this quality and price should not be losing stones, especially within weeks of being purchased.

After losing confidence, I sought a second opinion from another jeweller, who agreed that an engagement ring should not be experiencing these problems. They have offered to clean the ring and change it to a bezel setting to properly secure the diamonds—something I wish had been suggested from the start.

What has disappointed me most is the lack of customer care. There was no real attempt to resolve the underlying problem by replacing the ring or offering a more suitable setting. Instead, we were left paying for another diamond while the same issue continued to happen.

The saddest part is that I absolutely love my ring. It’s beautiful, and I never wanted to be writing a review like this. However, when you spend a significant amount of money on such an important piece of jewellery, you expect it to be durable and for the aftercare to match the quality you’re paying for.

Sadly, because of this experience, we will not be buying our wedding rings from Ian Gallagher Jewellers. We may simply have been unlucky, but after three identical issues in less than a year and the way the situation was handled, I cannot recommend them.

DISAPPOINTING and RUDE

Visited the Ian Gallacher last year (belated review)to see about a repair to a diamond necklace and also to buy a matching diamond ring and earrings.

I felt we were treated like suspects when we entered the (dingy) premises and we received some very strange and uppity looks from the staff in the secure office area, which overlooks the shop entrance - we obviously didn't look rich enough for them!

The young lady who served us just couldn't be bothered with us. We were about to spend over £3000 on a ring and earrings and we had travelled all the way from KIlmarnock after seeing their ads on STV, but after the poor attitude we endured, we took our business elsewhere.

I found Ian Gallacher jewellers unfriendly and very disappointing and I would not waste my time using them.

Delighted!

I recently had my eternity ring enlarged and the stones reset due to claw damage. I used a piece of jewellery for enlarging the ring which was of huge sentimental value to me as it belonged to my late mother.
I was given a timescale of 2-3 weeks for completion of the work.
You can imagine my delight when I received a call two days later to say my ring was ready.
The finished product is stunning. I’m so happy with it and delighted to wear it again after many years of not being able to.
Thanks to the staff at Ian Gallacher for a job very well done!
