So does the X in IcelandX stand for eXtreme or eXcellent? We think it’s both. Our “Great 4x4 Expedition” far exceeded our expectations. We loved our guide Jon— a very personable, knowledgeable native Icelander who took great care of us - he went above and beyond to be sure we were enjoying our trip and had everything we needed. Jon actually loaned us his personal tripod and helped me with exposure settings. The places we were able to go because of the 4WD brought us up close and personal to off-the-beaten-track geologic wonders of Iceland without the crowds. From waterfalls to glaciers to moss covered lava fields to geysers and fumaroles, we were amazed by it all. We got weary of saying spectacular. The hotels were upscale - Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon is rated 4 stars - as were the restaurants. We had many delicious meals with an opportunity to try fresh fresh fish and local Icelandic foods— we are now hooked on Skyr. We are sorting through the kazillion photos we took and wishing we were still there. Bravo IcelandX and Jon!

Let me start by saying that I hate packaged tours. They do not appeal to me, and in the past, my wife and I have planned our own trips and rented cars etc. and traveled on our own. I have traveled in around 25 countries and across the US. I did some research on Iceland-X and was really intrigued by the attention to detail that went into everything I read about. Calling them and taking on the phone reinforced my impression that these were great people and that they wanted their tour to not be at all like the typical "packaged tour"
Well, when we got to iceland I was really bowled over by everythng. Tour size was small. The coach was luxurious. Accommodations were first rate. I honestly felt like I was traveling with a couple of friends and our guide, Jon, was one of the most interesting people I have ever met. I was initially struck by his knowlege of the area. He was full of stories, the local color that is sometimes hard to find was always coming out. A keen sense of humor coupled with his professionalism as it pertains to safety, creature comforts and knowhow, was always on display. He constantly went above and beyond what I expected. Everything was planned out with precision, but I did not feel any stress and was unbelievably relaxed all of the time. It was simply great! I must say that the trip was almost perfect. Many will argue that nothing in this world is ever perfect. I would agree, and I was disappointed only in the lack of readily available pickled herring.

From the very first email encounter with Dana to establish our luxury signature trip, to the personal pickup to take us to the airport by our (now) friend and guide, Halli, it was an amazing experience. It was such a pleasure to work with G.B., Ivy and Dana over several months to finalize trip itinerary and reservations. They were so kind and gracious to answer any and all of my questions. It was such an enjoyable and stress-free experience to make this dream trip happen.

I have always had Iceland on my bucket list. By having a guide throughout the trip, my husband and I were able to learn so much and ask every question we had about Iceland. Halli is truly the BEST guide!

Please consider using Iceland X for your next trip to Iceland. I will be coming back, because the only thing I did not see were the Northern Lights. A winter trip will be needed to accomplish this goal :)

What made it great? JON!
We loved the schedule that you put together! The trip included so many locations. Waterfalls, volcanos, Nothern Lights, glaciers, volcanic deserts, ocean, whales and let's not forget the Icelandic Ponies! The accommodations and food were top notch! BUT... JON! He made our vacation exceptional. Jon's knowledge, humor, friendliness and his focus on making it perfect can't be matched!

We stayed in great hotels, the driver/guide was excellent and informative, everywhere we went was beautiful. Very happy with the experience and recommending to all our friends.

Iceland alone is stunning. What made this trip (aside from going with my bestie) was the tour guide, Karl. The way he time managed the weather, excursions, etc...was incredible. He made sure we got the whole experience and was very laid back the entire time. Even in some anxiety driven situations.

Buy the plane ticket, travel, but definitely ask for Karl :)

I received word that Dana was no longer working
The new person said the fire &ice tour I was confirmed in July was cancelled Upon checking I found two earlier ones were full.
The replacement lady kept pushing for me to take a tour with snow mobiles it cost more and was 5 days instead of 3
I have not heard anything since.

I can't say enough wonderful things about IcelandX, our 8-day tour, and our amazing guide, Karl. From the beginning, Ivy was knowledgeable, helpful, and flexible (including helping me arrange to arrive and stay a day late). And Karl picked up right where Ivy left off, including deftly navigating an unexpected blizzard. I'm so grateful for the tour and the opportunity to see such an incredibly beautiful place. I usually travel on my own, but this was a fantastic tour experience. Thanks so much, Ivy, Karl, and IcelandX!

This was by far the best vacation EVER!!! While Iceland itself is an amazing destination, IcelandX made it easy to navigate, got us to far off places and took care of us every minute of the day. Our guide was extremely friendly and personable, knew all the places to go, took us to destinations that were perfect for our group. IcelandX was able to cater the trip to our own personal likes. We spoke for weeks leading up to the trip so they were able to plan/personalize it for us. Even as the week went on, they were able to change the agenda based on our daily needs and desires so that all of us went home knowing we each had the best trip of our lives! As soon as we got our luggage, there was someone ready to pick us up and take us away to the lagoon to rinse off the stress, dreariness of plane travel so we were instantly relaxed and ready to begin our adventure! Our mantra from hour one was ‘BEST TRIP EVER!!’ Also, we now feel that the best way to start any trip is to go from the airport directly to a spa/lagoon!

Iceland was stunning! Our group was small enough not to feel like a gang. (11) Our driver was also our guide. Which was worrying when he was trying to answer our questions and keeping focused on some challenging roads after a blizzard. It would have made more sense (and safer) to have had a driver plus aseparate tour guide. But, he was good and did his best.

Iceland is an amazing place! We went thinking the trip would be a failure if we didn’t see the Northern Lights. We did see the Lights but Iceland had so much more to offer. Around every corner was another photo opportunity.
The small group tour was much better than anything the big bus tour could provide. We could go place, fit into spots, and make friends, that the big busses can’t.
Our guide, Kurt, was a wealth of information. He, like all of us, is still in awe of the magic that is Iceland.

Rode 4 days exploring the Highlands of Iceland with IcelandX and Ride With Locals. This partnership between the two tour operators is fantastic and provides a once in a lifetime fantastic experience. These motorcycle tours are not for beginners but the experience is unmatchable when touring the interior of Iceland on a dirt bike. Don't wait - Just go do it, you won't regret it. Everyone is helpful and makes your trip memorable!

We had a great time seeing Iceland with Jón! He was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. If you are going to Iceland I would highly recommend booking a tour with IcelandX!

Really fun trip. We did the 9 day Super truck drive around Iceland. IcelandX was outstanding in every category, from their communication pre-trip, the equipment (super trucks) used, route planning, and the quality and professionalism of our guide. Simply put, this was a fun trip and IcelandX did a fantastic job.

My 22 year old son went on the 5 Day motorcycle ride with Iceland-X and had an awesome experience.

He said the people were great, the food was delicious and the accommodations were nice.

His only complaint is that the trip was too short!

My husband and I had a GREAT experience using IcelandX for our honeymoon! We had some last minute issues with not enough people signing up for the tour we had chosen but they were able to move some things around so we could still go on our original dates. It honestly turned out better than we ever expected and we were already planning another trip while we were there. Hands down my favorite vacation ever!

GB and his team made our trip incredible. The people, the sites, the food, the strongman competitions. Everything was awesome. Could recommend them more.
