BANKER GIVES OBJECTIVE REVIEW OF SERVICE
As a Commercial Banker, I deal with thousands of companies and I have almost never seen a worst performance of a company than this one. On my very 1st day of attempting a $700 computer, I had to call in to customer service NINE TIMES just to order and I still didn't place it. From unverified shipping address to arbitrarily being put on hold in the middle of talking, this is one of the WORST companies I have ever experienced. What a piece of s**t outfit!
Best Place to Shop in Town!
I recently have made several purchases at Curacao in Van Nuys and I am impressed with the inventory and helpfulness of their employees. They have everything from sunglasses to camping gear to toys and appliances. I happened to price check an item and found it $24 cheaper using my phone, I was given the $24 off PLUS 10% on the product on-the-spot. No hassel and guarenteed. Impressive.
Do Not Order From Them…
I recently applied for a credit from them and got approved I later used that credit to buy a dryer which in total came out to 900 dollars I put $176 down and waited over a month for the dryer to be delivered I finally received it only to discover that the dryer didn't come with any attachments not even a plug to plug it in the wall. I was told that I needed to purchase those things separately but nowhere in the description did it say that so I requested for them to pick the dryer back up and requested a refund. I have been getting the run around ever since. Every time I call they tell me I have the wrong department and hang up, no one speaks good English so there is a language barrier, it's been two months since they picked up the dryer and I still haven't received my refund.
AVOID
I received a pre approval for one of their credit accounts last summer. Finally after months of having the account, I decided to make a purchase. First, I requested expedited shipping-it didn't happen. When I found out the item would not arrive in time, I called customer service to cancel. I was assured the order was cancelled. Their web portal indicated it was cancelled, yet the item showed up at my front door. I then had to request a return authorisation. There was no self service option for this like Amazon. I had to wait 3 days for a response and a return label. I promptly returned the laptop. Two days after the item was delivered to Curacao by UPS, I received an email that the item was received and my account would be credit. My account with Curacao was credit. However, the copayment of $205 I paid on my credit card was never completed. I emailed Curacao about it. After a week of hearing nothing and no credit, I filed a chargeback with my credit card company. There seems to be no urgency at this company. This company really needs to get it's act together. If the excuse is labor shortage, then they shouldn't be in business. There is a clear way to automate most of this as Amazon has done so. I will not shop again from this company.
It's Not Worth Saving A Few Dollars! Buy Elsewhere.
I would never buy anything from curaçao again. I ordered a watch on Black Friday without doing my homework on the company. It arrived late (2 weeks later), so I needed to return the item.
The Returns Policy on their website clearly states that unworn watches may be returned. I contacted curaçao the day it was delivered to initiate a return, and was told to wait 48-72 hours. After 72 hours I called and was on the phone for 30 minutes, only to be told it takes 7 days because management "needs to do an investigation." I called back *three* more times, each time taking a minimum of 30 minutes on the phone, before a rep finally sent me a return label via email.
I'm a patient person, and I was polite each time I called. It's a busy time of year, and I understand that stores everywhere are short-staffed. But I've never encountered a company that is so dysfunctional and where the customer service is so poor.
What boggles my mind is not just the rude customer service, but that a company could be run this poorly and still be in business. The reps told me a different story each time I called, including "watches cannot be returned," "the website is wrong about our return policy," and "watches are basically jewelry, and, like, jewelry can't be returned, so..." I waited patiently for my turn to speak, and then I'd read the Returns Policy aloud from the website. After explaining that (and providing the URL aloud), one rep said "no, not really, it doesn't say that." What!?
So, after a week of waiting and four long phone calls, I got the return label. That agent was the rudest person I spoke to, but at least he clicked 'send' and I received the return label before he hung up on me. I printed it off and sent back the watch yesterday. Now I'm waiting to see whether curaçao processes the refund promptly and correctly. If not, I'm ready to open a dispute with AmEx and call the BBB.
Finally, I posted this on Facebook, and they replied quickly in the comments, inviting me to contact them. I had already emailed them (at that same email address) but they didn't reply. They are trying to paint over the bad reviews by replying with a generic apology, but they don't follow up to fix their mistakes.

Purchased a coffee maker through them and it was defective. Had a leak which made it unusable. Asked to return and they denied as I was out of the return window.....by a whopping four days!!!!! Purchased it on 2/24 and received 5 days later. It was a birthday gift and opened on 3/15. How would I have known it was defective before then? And based on delivery date - I was still within delivery window. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! I have been a customer for years and apparently that does not matter to them. They ignore you!!!!! WORST OUTFIT EVER!!!!! Spend your money somewhere else. BUT TRUST ME - THEY ARE GETTING THEIR PRODUCT BACK WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT!!!!! RUN FROM THESE FOLKS!!!!!
3/22/21 - Three days later now and one phone call from them - yep, still quoting their return window. And they are rude to boot. Seriously - DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! They do not stand behind their products and will give you the run around but not solve your problem. If you buy something and it is defective, you are stuck with it. Too many other reputable merchants out there to take a risk with Curacao.
