I'm a first time international traveler, so I was nervous. But the Impactrip representative, Claudia and Rui, were very knowledgeable and helpful the whole way through. I got to meet some cool people... See more

A few minutes’ walk from the beach and train station
Such an amazing vibe with very friendly and helpful staff. They do great with accommodations, cleaning, and consistent meals.
There are people here, literally, from all over the world - it’s an incredible experience and opportunity for networking and human and nature connections.
The location is just minutes from transportation systems and from the beaches - super convenient.
They offer private rooms, but most are shared rooms/open floor plans with others. Floor lockers are provided with options to use locks.
They have a washer and dryer on site as well that can be used easily through an app. Just be sure to check your spam email for the confirmation code to work the app.

This is not only a hostel but an amazing initiative that takes care of every single detail. Eco friendly and responsible with the environment and the people. I never doubt to partner with them for my projects, which aim to promote environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and social inclusion.
I was a forest conservation volunteer…
I was a forest conservation volunteer for Impactrip for two weeks and I really enjoyed my experience. The group was amazing I hope a created lifelong friendships. The team was very supportive and also helped me booking my surf classes. Thank you all
Impactrip to me is totally about people…
Impactrip to me is totally about people I met. My name is Daria. I am doing my internship in the company working in marketing department. That gives me a chance to reach more people in order to share ideas of creating positive change worldwide. Feel happy to be close to different cultures but same values.
Volunteer Projects Coordinator Internship
I did 2 months of internship with ImpacTrip as a Volunteer Projects Coordinator in Impact Beach House; it was really a life changing experience for me. The team was really welcoming and patient. They took their time whenever I had questions, I received constant help and feedback. Even though the internship period was short, I can feel and see the growth it had on me.
The location is really cool, it is 5 minutes' walk to a beach, having the luxury to go to the beach and take a quick dip during lunch break or going straight to beach after work was really fun. Impact Beach House is also really close to Cascais, and it is a 30min train ride to Lisbon downtown area.
Getting to meet many people from all over the world, listening to their unique and cool life stories, becoming friends with them, seeing how we all can contribute to the world we share instead of wasting its limited resources was really nice. I did not stay at Impact Beach House, but I wish I could. It had the sensation of having bunch of cool roommates.
As someone who values circular economy and sustainability, I am grateful for this internship opportunity. It was really eye opening to see, no matter the area is you can have a positive impact to the world we live in if you want to!
Living life backwards
At 58 years young, I decided to live life backwards and live in a youth hostel with 40 plus people. I had my own room and a shared bathroom. I personally loved it. I was there 6 weeks and met 5 interesting people a day from all over the world. The people who come to this place are empathetic and adventurous. They came to give, not take, from a beautiful country.
The house itself is huge. I climbed 6 flights of stairs ( from the street), and there were two more floors and a basement. It was a good workout. The staff were great and constantly cleaning. I liked the small imprint the house made on the environment.
The whole idea of this house and program was beautiful. I was part of the scuba diving program and the older person they had in years. The instructors were great at helping me keep up with all the young people. I dove 22 times. I am from So California, so the water was the same temperature. It is not a tropical dive. It is a gothic feeling. I saw my first octopus.
The area the house is in was fantastic. Close to the train. Cascais was a 25 minute walk on the beach and I spent a lot of time at meet up groups and rock concerts. Portugal rock concerts are amazing.
The few women my age that came in the house I still am in touch with. They were also living their life backwards. It was nice to be in the company of people who I had things in common with.
I teach high school, it was interesting listening to 16- 20 year olds from other countries. Also, it was interesting listening to see the 20 and up crowd interact with the younger generation.
I felt like I went to a class on how young people navigate the world. They had apps for the washing machine.
I did end up with an ear infection and had to go to the hospital my second week in an ambulance. I had great treatment.
The staff were wonderful, kind and they were helpful.
I really could have just lived there. Especially the last week when they gave me my own room with my own bathroom. The view was amazing.
I lost my partner, of 17 yrs in 2020. So, I enjoyed the company and conversation.
Yes, it is a youth hostel, so expect shenanigans. I was a part of those some nights.
I was in my own room, but my friend Carrie was in a 4 person dorm and she pushed her plane ticket back twice to stay longer and take care of the cats. She and I still talk and we both want to crawl back into that house.
I am looking into the IVHQ program in Mozambique for next year for environmental tropical scuba diving. BUT… I will come back to Impact House again. ❤️❤️❤️
I did a two-month volunteer…
I did a two-month volunteer communications internship with Impactrip at their Impact Beach House hostel, and it was amazing! The team at Impactrip is very welcoming, and they have a fun, positive atmosphere. While I didn't stay at the Beach House, I worked from there almost every day, so I got to experience this very hospitable community. We would all eat lunch together every day and talk, or walk 5 minutes to the beach and take a quick dip in the ocean on hot days (which was probably my favorite part). I made so many meaningful connections with my fellow interns, the Impact team, as well as some of the guests. Getting to know so many people from so many different backgrounds and cultures definitely made an impact on me, and I'm sad I could only stay two months. It was truly an amazing summer, and I am walking away with some wonderful memories and valuable skills that I'll have for the rest of my life!
Impact Trip Alonisis
My daughter is currently in Greece on a trip organized through this business, I would advise anyone booking that they go through the logistics with a very fine tooth comb before booking especially given security concerns across Europe at the moment. The trip was supposed to be a conservation diving experience with up to 7 hours a day activities with other like minded individuals. We asked for other volunteer names so that perhaps she could share the two hour ferry trip to the island with company, but was told due to Data Protection that wasn't possible, upon arrival she discovered she was the only volunteer!! The excuse given was there last minute cancellations, any organisation with an alleged humanitarian ethic surely would have got in touch and made us aware so that the trip could be rescheduled. The 7 hours activity, the team briefing and the other volunteers were all non existent, if you want to make this trip do your research and avoid this company at all costs.
The reality is if you are travelling in Europe you will be passed over to Impact Trip check out their Trip Advisor ratings before you book anything these people have no regard for your child's safety purely taking your money for a trip you could arrange yourself for a third of the price.
1 star
the staff did not take my anaphylactic allergy seriously at all, despite knowing about the severity of my allergy well in advance, and being reminded just days prior.
i had to avoid certain rooms in the house for several days and they refused to take measures that i had told them were vital to my safety throughout my two weeks, despite promising me before my arrival that they would.
after leaving the trip i emailed in to alert them about what had been happening to me and how terribly it was dealt with, and i was told that since the local team said they handled it well, i must be wrong. despite providing evidence.
so, this review and alerting the anaphylaxis society is all i can do to make others aware to avoid this place if they have with any health concerns.
Horrible experience
I was placed on the wrong program which was very bad since I came here for a school course and needed experience that I could write about, which I couldn't until I managed to change placement at last. The food and rooms were also not the same as advertised, I had to buy my own food most days to receive enough nutrients. Me and a few others also had to switch rooms due to other guests, which first of all shouldn't happen, and made us feel as though we were not respected. Those guests also made me feel as if we weren't safe in the house, but nothing was done to prevent this.
terrible experience
I spent a week in porto and a week in lisbon with impact trip.
The week in porto was horrendous
paid for 7 days- says on the website 1 week- only received 6- found my stuff in bin bags in the lobby
paid for 3x7 meals a day- only recieved 4 meals in total and only offered a 75 euro refund for this.
The restaurant that they made me go to had a fly in the dinner so i didnt go back. The meals were supposed to be lactose free- the hostel told me that they didn’t serve that so i presumed there had been an error .After i complained they did aranage for me to eat at the restaurant, and offered me a 75 euro refund but i found that unacceptable because i had spent more, the women i spoke to on the phone about this was also very rude.
.Was supposed to receive 24 hour support- i was ill and aksed to be picked up which they declined and it took them half an hour to reply and i was not given a number for 24 hour support. Was supposed to receive guided tour of the city that i did not.
Ride to accommodation was half an hour late
They let me go to the volunteer placement even though they knew the manager had covid, putting me in danger, refused to prove they didnt know the manager had covid did not ask for any dbs checks eventhough i was working with a vulnerable group.
After Putting this in their complaints book, i was offered a 100 euro refund and a week in lisbon.
The week in lisbon was even worse…..
I was promised that i would be able to do the cat project, then i was told there was no room on it.
If i was told this then i would have went to a small claims court about my original complaint in porto, because i wasn’t interested in any other projects.
Expected to travel 12 miles every day to placement which cost a lot of money, these expenses are not mentioned on the website.
already complained about impact trip, i went to porto 6 days and paid for a private room. I have put details of this complaint in the attachments.
After puttingthis complaint in, i was offered a week at a different placement with meals, accommodation and support included.
1. On the first night i was forced to sleep with dirty bed sheets, i was told they could not be changed untill morning, discusting and a covid risk The bedroom was also filthy, not cleaned in months, dust under the bed clearly been there for a long time. Whole house discusting, bowl of mouldy fruit, dirty fridge and bathrooms.
2. I had paid for a private room last time, so i think it is only fair that i got a private room this time, considering the inconvenience and the money that it cost me fixing the companies poor planning, lack of communication and mistakes. I was given a 100 euro refund from the company for the mistakes last time, however this was taken off me for a private room and they expected me to pay another 100. After the dirty bedsheets I refused. I did not think it was fair that i was expected to pay an extra 200 euro for a small dirty room with no air conditioning shared bathroom while another women paid exactly the same for an air conditioned en suite room. I would like an explanation for this.
3. The manager was disrespectful to me while i put this complaint in, laughing at me and yawning.
4. 4 people caught covid while i was at the house, and new people still arrived whilst the infection was spreading throughout the house. People were still going to placemets with vulnerable groups like babies, homeless, children with a risk of covid since they have been living with people with covid.
5. Food was discusting and disgrace quality, food poisoning risk as food just left out for a long time. Meant to be “local style” not rice and mash constantly.
6. Placement was poorly air conditioned and the children were not being looked after properly. Did not ask for dbs checks Again.
Parents please think again before you send your children here, you may be sending them to self isolate in a dirty box room for a week on their own. Projects like these can be brilliant for maturing and having fun but please book with another company. I would not like my 16 year old cousin to stay here. The conditions at this place are terrible, and not worth a penny. I will be persuing this as far as i can so hopefully the conditions will be better for people who foolishly give this company money.
Terrible experience
It was really bad food. The hotel was moldy and a girl got sexually assulted by another guest and the management did not take it serious.
Since i had so little time left before leaving i didnt try to get a refund but i heard from others who have tried that even though you don’t get what you paid for they do not offer refunds.
Very terrible experience and i hope that it dont happen to others aswell
