Sergio did a great job of diagnosing the check engine light issue. He arrived on time and very polite and professional. Thank you.

The mechanic came out quickly and did the job in half an hour. He had a great personality and the experience was a lot more convenient than going to the shop.

Sergio was on time. He checked my vehicle and found out that the issue is electrical, he reached out to his boss to get an electrician on site today. Greatly appreciated

Written by the company

Instant Car Fix is a privately held company based in the DMV area. The company provides mobile car repair and maintenance services to car owners at their location (home or office or any other location of choice). The company currently operates in DC, MD and VA and is rapidly expanding to other cities too. We realized that most auto repair shops and dealerships try to upsell their services and recommend services which are not needed. Most of the times, a simple car service trip turns into an estimate worth thousands of dollars. The cheap upsell tactics consistently instills fear into customer’s mind and most people do not like walking into an auto repair shop. A recent survey by AAA shows some staggering statistics. Two out of three auto drivers do not trust auto repair shops. An incredible 76 percent of those surveyed by AAA said they were recommended to buy unnecessary services. 73 percent said they were overcharged, and 63 percent said they had negative past experiences. Nearly half (49 percent) said that they were concerned that work won’t be done correctly. Instant Car Fix was created to solve this problem. Our goal is to provide honest quotes with quality service at the convenience of your doorsteps. We made a company you can trust, that never upsells, and believes customers should decide what services they need for their car. Our certified mechanics have years of experience working at dealerships and repair shops. Best part – we come to you! We repair cars at location of your choice so that you don’t have to walk into an auto repair shop ever again. At Instant Car Fix, we MAKE LIFE SIMPLE!

Very bad experience!!!!

Richard was the mechanic that came out today to determine why there was still leaking after the company had installed a new thermastat housing unit a week aho. Richard was on time and completely competent. He diagnosed the problem the previous mechanic created and provided a complete report. I would use him again and recommend without hesitation. Very competant!!!

That said, the company itself engages in terrible business practices. They tried to ignore what he reported to them; that this was a bad installation job never completed by the previous mechanic. (Note - I submitted a review for that work by the same company a week ago, May 22, 2026 - that review can be read here at TP).

The company told me I had to pay for another diagnostic fee to determine if this was a "part" or labor/service issue that would be covered under their 12 month warranty.

Richard determined the thermastat housing was improperly installed, the o-ring on the vacuum pump needed to be replaced and that the hose to the thermastat housing unit was leaking some, The rep at the company wouldnt listen to Richard when he reported his finding in a phone call I heard. The rep litterally said those were small/minor service issues and kept bringing up that a new vacuum pump was needed. Richard made clear to the rep multiple times that wasnt correct...an o-rung was the only thing needed to stop the leak from the vacuum.pump.

Despite all of that, the rep sends me an quote for a new vacuum pump. Immediately thereafter he sends a second quote in which he adds a new thermastat housing unit to the vacuum pump. The guise of making me pay for the second diagnostic session for the same problem that was performed today was for the compsny to determine if the part/service would be covered by their warranty, Instead, they want to make me purchase a 2nd new thermastat housing unit in the same week.

Bottom line the original job was never completed and all of this should be covered at no cost to me under their 12 month parts and service warrantee. I hope and expect they are going to make this right.
